Strict is too hard because you have to be basically tiny or extremely thin but well proportioned to do them. If you are not proportioned or carry just a little too much weight, it is too difficult. There is nothing wrong with doing the swing.
universatile - the same reason it is good to train both strict and kipping pullups. one addresses strength, and the other power. additional strength certainly helps increase power.
What is the purpose of making movements 'strict' and slowing down the velocity? There is no situation in real life where one would purposefully slow down a rep like that.
@universatile no but then it gives you much more explosive power in "real-life" when you need to use it. slower = better faster = momentum and not muscles alone but the mass being lifted having velocity.

Great man ! Good motivation to see someone finally master that son of an exersice..! Feels like I've practising it forever, and I still can't do it!

@universatile They're harder so the purpose is seeing if you can do it. He's not training here. He's testing.

@anhisking actually i would get into cat position and do a climb up which is easier than a muscle up.

check out my muscle up videos! they arent quite as strict as this however :)

Nice job man, you can still use speed even if you don't kip. On the succesful attempt you finished the pull-up in a much more determined way.

I think the reason it didn't work the first time is you didn't get your wrists above the bar. Compare with second time when you succeeded.
This is one of my goals at the moment, to do this! How many pullups can you do in one shot?

Its always alot harder after youve done it once
