i srsly cant stand people like that woman. constantly blabbering and interrupting oh my god!! just stfu!! 21:50 good example. props to jacques for having te restraint to not clock her.
I think the reason Claudine seems slightly clueless is to have an excuse for Chef to "teach." She plays the role of asking questions viewers may have so Chef isn't constantly lecturing to a television camera. At the same time, as long as she's cooking on his show, I'm sure she wants to do things the way he wants.
I love watching Jacques cook however, I'm not so fond of him cooking with his daugther or Julia. I just want to see him they seem to slow him down and be in the way.
His daughter is ok but looks clueless as to what to do with the receipes, don't the producers coach her or tell her anything about what will be cooked on that show ? It's like the first time she has been in the kitchen, didn't she grow up with the guy ? I know chefs do 14-16 hour days but come-on.
I'm definitely not a fan of Claudine, and I love Jacques, but it does occur to me that she may have been pushed to meet very high expectations. She seems to be very eager to please, and he seems to be somewhat critical of what she tries to do. It's always awkward walking on eggshells.
wished i had a dad like jacques pepin . . . how i would love to follow in his footsteps and be a chef as well as a culinary explorer around the world with great food great people and even best , excellent wines.
I can't get enough of the bit at 13:07 where Claudine fails to stir after adding flour and Jacques sounds the Lump Alarm. Her expression is priceless. "No lumps!"
the interaction between Jacques and his daughter isn't too fluid, but i think it's just something you have to adjust to. tv shows that are produced commercially are usually so polished that you don't see the imperfections that exist between family members and the way they interact. whether or not it works for the show or not is questionable.
Jacques is great to watch, but I can't stand his daughter butting in. She's just annoying! He can hardly talk from her always commenting or talking. I have kids and love them dearly, but good grief. Sorry, but true....
@hote216girl Yes, she is quite the opposite of Jacques, sorry to say. I've often wonder what the Mother is like, and if the daughter takes more after her, or if she just has that personality independently.
Lets try an experiment. Watch an episode with Jacques...then what one with Claudine...
I have nothing against her, it's just that I have watched so many of Jacques shows and each one is totally amazing...just watching him use a knife is pure poetry.
And then Claudine turns up and I just can't watch as is so painful.
As a father I guess he has unconditional love for her so I forgive him.
@MegaLuke01 - Let's try a different experiment- You keep your good for nothing, negative comments to yourself and we'll see if anyone notices the difference.
I've never seen anyone who's mastered knife skills the way he has. His technique is just awesome to watch. I'd also highly recommend his autobiography to anyone who hasn't read it.
I absolutely adore Jacques' cooking shows, and I'm glad to see you uploading these in their entirety. I've done a number of his recipes, and they're as elegant, and as easy, as he makes them look.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Jacques is indeed the epitomy of a culinary master. His technique has come from a life time of classic training and it shows...effortless and poetic.
So why does he have is stupid, cheesy, daughter.
She ruins an otherwise beautiful programe...shame really.

I think Jacques is probably my favorite chef. I like watching all of his shows even when I was a kid. He seems really warm and is very experienced.
