@ChaosJokerXtreme Actually, Mario jumped into a volcano in Super Mario 64's Lethal Lava Land, back in 1996. In addition, the reason he jumps comically high is in order to allow the player to make their way back to safe ground; unlike Sonic, who takes a seat and drops his rings.

Final point: Sonic '06 was one of the worst games of all time. All of Mario's platformers have been excellent. *shrug*

Fanboys definitely had a part (the same people responsible are the ones acting aloof, saying "sonic's been goin' down a suck spiral since Sonic Adventure) but they weren't the only factor.

@TourettesSomething Very true. That's the problem when you have such severe deadlines with something like this, especially around Christmas where you do some major promotions. Microsoft made a big mistake in forcing the Sega time to make that kind of a deadline. I agree that this game could have been much much better had Sega and Sonic Team had more time.

@xSorrowfulAngelx yeah, the game isn't that bad, and some of the Sonic levels really kick back to Sonic Adventure. The only thing you should be warned is that some of the levels, especially the ones with the 'mach speed' areas, are pretty cheep, and require some practice (hint: hold down foward to make more precise turns). Also, installing the game (on the Xbox 360, anyway) will reduce the load times from 10-15 seconds to roughly 5-7. Hope this helps!
