Indeed much is lost in that translation, not only the first 2 verses but also the true meaning and beautiful construction of some others are lost.

If you really want to feel this song fully you will need to learn Portuguese. Fado, pretty much like poetry can't truly be translated.

A true understanding that comes from the original language, it's grace and depth of sentiment (especially from the romance languages) can rarely be translated lyrically into English.

Ah, now I see how you found me. I've no idea how you knew I love Joni, nor your inspiration to send Cristina's "Case of You," not unlike Joni's, but, truly owned by Cristinia's sensitivity to the material, both lyrically & musically.

I recently listened again to Joni's latest rendition of "Both Sides Now" and was reduced to a tearful blob for several days.

That song has been my soundtrack and means so much to me. Hearing her sing it now from the vantage age, made it all the more poignant.
