A GREAT man!! An absolute ICON for Australian music pioneers. Yes....his life never really worked out for him but...he will always be remembered for the impact he had...and has...to the music industry. I wish him all the best!
I absolutely ADORE Stevie Wright. He is the best man to have fronted a band in any country, any era in the history of rock. In the 60s he was a unique combination of a cheeky Robbie Williams and a sexy Mick Jaggar in one, way ahead of his time. What an amazing career this man has had. So proud that he is "ours", so proud that the Easybeats are "ours". Look at this man, in all he's been through he is still here, rocking on. I love you Stevie, you are the best <3
@TheSwisslad I really enjoy his "Friday On My Mind" tune. Yeah, he is a far cry from what he used to look like when he was eighteen, singing that jolly ole tune. You're right..... aging happens to all of us. I'm glad to be a part of a generation that grew up with and listened to the most highest, talented performers. Right on Stevie Wright!
@gweijai YARP! You would think that he would always look the same as he did back in the day. We all grow up / older. I love his musical talents. Generation of the 1960's / 1970s was second to none.
It's great to see Stevie still passionate about his craft! We all live a life, meaningfull or otherwise. Not many people can look back and honestly say they have enriched other peoples lives, Stevie Wright is such a person. To see Him perform in the early days with the band must have been great! Good luck Stevie, Stay safe and thank you for enriching our lives.....kevin in Perth.
I get very emotional (in a positive way) whenever I see Stevie or listen to Easybeats CDs. If I could only explain with words what their music has meant to me all these years! Let's just say that Stevie, his voice, his style and that awesome band are the only connection I have left of the best times of my life. Stevie you've always been like a big brother for me. Please hang in there!
Sorry. Can't seem to get the link to post. But that early "Friday on My Mind" performance in France - iconic. I watch it over and over. Lol. Take care.
Great to see the wonderful Stevie is doing well & still performing. My mom played the'Hard Road' LP constantly thru my teens, now I've got her original album in my collection. LOVE IT.
Good on you Stevie for kicking the drugs & alcohol. Your music still affects me.
I always liked Stevie and I screamed right along with all the girls in the audience..,of course I was at home here in the states.Stevie had the smile and the eyes that would melt a girls heart and he still does.Love you Stevie from a fan in the states.
time 4 sleeping - what happened to stevie wright is not totally self inflicted. Stevie was a victim of psychiatrist Harry Bailey at Chelmsford Hospial.
@rospetal -well said & totally correct. Bailey was a psychopath and over 40 "patients/victims" actually died after deep sleep & electro-convulsive so called "treatment" ! @chelmsford under that bastard & by the time an enquiry was established (took the authorities 7 years to get round to it) Bailey had committed suicide.
So many people were damaged mentally & physically from their stay @ Chelmsford, including a few musos & celebrities from that era,Stevie was a notable one. Respect 4 Stevie !
Evie - By Stevie Wright is the best rock'n'roll song in the world - yes, that's right! Not in Australia, but the world! Stevie Wright is a true legend and history will remember him as one of the beat artists of all time!!
He was such a cutie when he was young, would love to see This Is Your Life again, cry through it again, love him again. Good on you Stevie for warning the young against trying drugs-what a legend. xx
Yes, I'd like him to cut his hair short & more around his face again, might take years off him. Although self inflicted I really feel for him, he wasn't horrible but just a very troubled man. He seems to hold much respect in the music industry these days and deservedly so. xxx
Ahh Stevie, remember what you said to me about what you were thinking as you slid down that drainpipe? You said you were thinking 'What the hell is going to happen at the end of this?!!' But we were in the house, we just didnt hear you.
What a gorgeous human being and one of the best front men of all time in Australian Rock and Roll...can't wait for the Easybeats doco..comes out this week I think...
You're right about one thing- lying certainly wouldn't put a penny in your pockets. Telling the truth, however, certainly would- if you had anything interesting and truthful to say..Especially if it weresomething perhaps his sister Rosemary and possibly the rest of the band would allow to be published.
"Marx began writing reviews and articles for the free Sydney music press and was soon employed by the Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian edition of Rolling Stone as a freelance music correspondent. He became notable for reviewing albums while openly admitting he had not listened to them, choosing instead to search the packaging and liner notes for "the tell-tale signs that you're in for an hour of crap".-Wikipedia

Faye, thank you for this marvelous statement. Stevie will always be much loved because he is a dinky di legend. Much love and best wishes to you both.
Good on you Fay..I don't know the man..but Stevie was part of my life growing up in Sydney. He seems like a very funny, gentle and lovely man. A stand out performance for me was "concert of the decade" back in 1979...what a brilliant human being and performer...
@messups Hi Faye and Stevie. I did feel that Marx's book was more about him dealing with his own demons rather than a biography about Stevie. Bless Stevie for still going well. He is natural and unpretentious-treats everyone the same.
