  • Troubled times? More enlightented, I think

  • I found it to be torture to have to watch this movie, HA!

  • what exactley is he doing to him? like i mean, what torture is this?

  • @redwingtrekie24 he is hang in a way that his arms are about to pop out of there sockets, in some cases they even do, resulting in a bucket load of pain... to put it in plain terms..

  • As he proved in No Country for Old Men and the great flick, nobody plays the embodiment of evil better than Javier Bardem. In No Country, all his evil character got for his crimes was a broken arm. But in this flick, the evil bastard portrayed here definitely got a real taste of his own medicine. This scene left me cheering!

  • Goya's Ghosts is one of the absolutely MOST UNDERRATED movies of all time! I saw it a couple of hours ago and I am still stunned. This movie should get an oscar! Not a 29% rating on rotten tomatoes!!!!! Really sad when you consider that a BS film like Titanic got 81% and 11 oscars... Gawd!

  • @foxxbattt What's wrong with Titanic?

  • @foxxbattt

    The movie is decent.

It isn't great because it's so incoherent! There's no prevalent storyline, no central theme... It's just stuff happening around Goya and in the end his situation remain unresolved.

  • This is one of the best scenes I've ever seen.

I read the comments some people wrote here, and may I say, these crimes were committed by men and not by God. I believe in God, but that's it. I have no religion but... I do believe in God.

A man said once, God has no religion.

The Inquisition was truly a big mistake.

  • to bad these are the guys that wrote gods book

  • If I belonged to an organization and knew they were doing this, I would withdraw my membership and not give them any more money.

Then they'd disappear, as would their abhorrent behaviors.

  • Yous speak as if this was some kind of fan club or college fraternity. Religious beliefs are something at is at the root of people's hearts. I will not abandon my beliefs because some people of the same faith have commit crimes.

  • This isn't a case of someone of the same faith committing a crime.

This is the LEADERSHIP OF THE MAN-MADE ORGANIZATION committing crimes against, many, many people.

The Inquisition and The Crusades were Crimes Against Humanity.

I suppose you can minimize and rationalize it, if it makes you feel better.

Most religious belief is a result of indoctrination, not a matter of the heart.

Man-made organizations have nothing to do with gods. They make money and keep others in check.

  • And now back to the heart of the matter. You don't believe in religion so you condemn me and my church to further you're own beliefs.

  • That is not the heart of the matter Do not attempt to deflect.

I have no beliefs. Atheism is merely a lack of belief in gods.

FACT: The Catholic church has spent over $600 MILLION in paying (or paying off) child molestation victims.

FACT: The Inquisition and The Crusades were real.

    FACT: You're financially supporting them.

I have no need to further Atheism, for it's not a religion. I don't care what you believe. However, I do care when people give money to the Catholic church.

  • FACT: You don't know that if I put money in the collection plate at Mass.

FACT: I am a broke college student that barely has money enough to pay for tuition, much less donate to my parish.

You're arguments are about as sound and labeling all Muslims as terrorists.

  • Not donating? Bad Catholic. I'll bet you go only on Easter and Christmas. Maybe one of those, "I'm Catholic, but I don't know why" people.

If I stated that all Muslims were terrorists, then I would have to have proof of this. I cannot make that claim, for I have no proof.

There is proof that the Catholic church is doing what is mentioned.

Do you support Catho-pedos with your presence?

The Moderates do prop up the Fundamentalists. Bet you don't know how.

  • Proof? Do you have proof that all Catholics support everything the Vatican decrees? Did you conduct an international survey?

Never the less I am done defending my faith to bigot.

  • I'm bigoted because I'm against pedophile priests. Okay.

A person who is truly Catholic is complicit. This cannot be denied. You can SAY you don't support it, but your actions speak more loudly than words.

Amazing how you want facts in one aspect, but then function on mere faith in the other.

I didn't do a survey of the KKK to ask if they all hate people other races. It is implied via membership.

Even if you donate one dime, you're supporting molesters.

    You've learned nothing.

  • your the bigot. it was obvious when you called atheism a belief.

  • so your admitting that you are to broke to donate money to the church not that you wouldn't want to give money to a church that pays child molestation victims.

  • I do not go to church, and I believe that Catholic beliefs are a joke, priests are just a bunch of hypocritical people that get money for doing nothing!

  • I am Catholic, but I would have done the same if that man had tortured my daughter.

  • Most people don't realize that being Catholic means supporting things like The Inquisition.

Today, every penny put in their baskets goes toward things like protecting and relocating pedophile priests or their war chest.

Financing crime and being a member of the group makes one complicit.

Religion is man-made and corrupt. Always has been. Always will be.

  • We are both entitled to our beliefs, but there's no reason to be insulting.

  • I did not say it to be insulting. This is not about belief in a god.

    This is the social truth.

For example, we belong to a social group. A few people in our group confess to shoplifting. We don't condemn them AND continue to hang out with them.

This action or inaction is an admission that this type of behavior is acceptable.

It seems there are many who find The Crusades, The Inquisition, and priest pedophilia acceptable, by their actions alone.

  • You're also generalizing. Is it not a social truth that society is made up of individuals? Many people in the church have condemned these atrocities you speak of, but you are following the belief that one bad apple spoils the barrel. Judgments should be based on individual character, rather then a social, religious or life style they belong to.

  • It's not on apple. There are many. It's in the news.

Sure, we judge others on their individual merit. But we also judge others by the company they keep.

I'll have a video response to this in the next hour, explaining my stance. AGAIN, this is not an attack on belief in a god.

The problem is that you are a MEMBER of a group; the very group that did what is depicted in this video. Your membership is endorsement of the behavior.

    The point is being missed.

  • Then why stop at my religion, you would also like to accuse me of being a drunken sot because I'm Irish? Or ill-tempered because I'm a redhead?

  • I don't say you're a drunk cuz you're Irish, for that is racist stereotyping.

A judgment a redhead would be as stupid as a judgment based on Zodiac sign.

You did not create Catholicism, yet you are STILL taking this personally.

When ANY GROUP, religious or otherwise, commits HORRORS against humanity, I will take the moral high ground and place judgment upon them.

Can you explain WHY you support the Catholic church and their protection of pedophile priests?

  • You've also missed my point completely. I may be Catholic, but it does not mean I support everything the Vatican decrees.

In you're comment about not saying I'm a drunk because I'm Irish because of racist stereotyping, but what you have been doing is religious stereotyping, because I individually belong a certain religion, you have seen fit to personally condemn me as supporting of crimes against humanity. I can't help but take it personally when you personally condemn me as such.

  • Obviously, you're still taking it personally.

    This still stands true:

Membership in an organization means that you are in general support of the organization.

At least we know that you're okay with pedophile priests. Personally, I think it's wrong to molest little boys.

Any person with an internal compass would see what is going on, recognize it, and then STEP AWAY from it.

Instead, you are a direct contributor to their power and actions. You don't see this.

There is no reasoning with you.

  • My video response is up on my channel, and posted as a response to this video. Debate in comments is ridiculous.

Again, just so you might understand, this is NOT a personal attack on your ethnicity, hair color, or belief in a god.

    No slippery slopes or conspiracies.

    Facts will suffice.

  • I hope all of those christian motherfuckers who were killing people "in the name of god" are already burning in hell!

  • I love this scene!

  • This is what should happen to Dick Cheney...

  • payback is a bitch jaja..... poor girl didnt even know about the jewish religion

  • This brings into terrible reality what we've been doing to often innocent prisoners at black sites, Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Guantánamo, and who knows were else. Lots were guilty but lots were also innocent and torture forced them to confess.

  • That and what celebs go through because of paparazzi.

  • the truth about what the spanish inquisition did....i can't believe this really happened

  • Standard practice for pretty much all law courts of the time. England had a nice dicey relationship with the rack and the Tower of London when they wanted to get something out of somebody, certainly not just the Inquisition. Granted, this was...1793 if I'm correct? And even here, they needed someone like Lorenzo to convince them to bring it back. A damn shame.

  • Never mind how much worse secular courts all over Europe in their punishment. A lot of this feeds into the Spanish Black Legend, if I may be so bold.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this scene! That's absolutely what my family would do if someone ever hurt one of my father's relatives.
