@Digthatcat60 For goodness sake, it shouldn't be that difficult to figure out the title of this song, Karin, if you just listen to the repetive text!! And, for all of you that obviously have never seen Rompin' Ronnie before, this was his normal stage antics and certainly nothing unusual (as 'oatstao' so rightfully points out!). Add to that that this is a PLAYBACK version and no LIVE one! Jimmy Luke Paulman on guitar & naturally the original Hawks member, Levon Helm, on drums!
@TheTheoldgit I remember seeing Michael on an Oprah special at Neverland in the early '90's, and at one point he dances a bit and Oprah's asks about the moonwalk and he credited it to young african dancers he'd seen as a kid.
Harvey, no way this is "Beak" Manuel, he was still in high school in Stratford ON. 'ti 1961. This is a studio recording from 1959. It is Willard "Pop" Jones on piano.
@jimmyobop Sounds like you're into the band history even deeper than me so I'll take your word for it. Got to meet Richard about half a year before he died. Told him how much I loved his version of "Share Your Love" which I'm happy I did considering what followed.
@harvey1954 I knew Richard and his brother Don (Filbert) from the time we were in Cub Scouts. Later he along with Jimmy Winkler , Kenny Kalmusky (bass player) and John Till (guitar: later with Janis Joplin's "Full Tilt Boogie") formed The Revols. Kenny and John each had more than one term a members of Ronnie Hawkins bands. The video, I believe is located in a studio in New York in 1959 not Le Coq D'Or. Loved that place!
yes, it was 'the moonwalk', the same one which jacko stole or who his choreographer claims to have invented...and as for those who claim cab calloway invented in in the 30's..that was just a 'duck waddle'.. this indeed is the move which jacko made famous
Ronnie is a real showman-I almost spilled my Red Bull when he started moonwalking!
