My ignition system is a homemade time with display, set up so the timer, upon reaching zero, will trigger an SCR to activate the ignitor. I really like this ignition system because I'm working with a lot of flash powder. I have a vid and schematic for the countdown timer on my channel. I've only ever used it with the igniters in your vid, never failed.
I was going to post a how to for the same igniter, but mine was ~7 minutes. I think that's just too long for me to upload. (My connection is REALLY slow.)
Hmmm.... why not use one cellphone as a transmitter and another "cheap" trac one phone as a receiver? You can light that thing from almost anywhere :-)
Attach the leads from the positive and negative terminals near the motor area of the the cellphone you are using as the receiver?
You can easily find 10$ cheap arse trac phones at wal-mart.

Hello All. You can get a disposable camera from the dolloar store usualy $5 -$10. If you open the case and remove the flash bulb (USE CAUTION THIS IS VERY HIGH VOLTAGE YOUVE BEEN WARNED) Add your length of wire to the terminals where the flash bulb was i soldered it but im sure you can use hot glue of somthing now you have a very high voltage detonator and trust me it sets off things bigger than a cristmas light. simply press the flash on botton and then snap a pictire

This is all good & well, but there is no indication what voltage the christmas light is....is this the 12-volt version or 110volt A/C version? I don't think a bulb designed to run on 110ac would light-up with a 9-volt battery, so I'm guessing it's a 12-volt light?
@BikeSwimLaugh based on that male plug end on the string of christmas lights, I would say 110 volt. they work on a lower voltage because they are wired in series and use only a portion of the (110) voltage
@BikeSwimLaugh based on that male plug end on the string of christmas lights, I would say 110 volt. they work on a lower voltage because they are wired in series and use only a portion of the (110) voltage
they are in series.... eg. say there are 20 of them.. then it would be 110 V / 20 = 5.5V each.
To summarise: X # of bulbs in series , total voltage / X = V per bulb.
A special thing about cmas lights is when they go out , the whole thing would go off, so they are often designed either by having a special bulb being a 'fuse bulb' and/or when they blow, they automatically short circuit (so that the whole circuit still is unbroken).

This is all good & well, but there is no indication what voltage the christmas light is....is this the 12-volt version or 110volt A/C version? I don't think a bulb designed to run on 110ac would light-up with a 9-volt battery, so I'm guessing it's a 12-volt light?

@BikeSwimLaugh Evidently.

@BikeSwimLaugh based on that male plug end on the string of christmas lights, I would say 110 volt. they work on a lower voltage because they are wired in series and use only a portion of the (110) voltage

@BikeSwimLaugh
they are in series.... eg. say there are 20 of them.. then it would be 110 V / 20 = 5.5V each.

@BikeSwimLaugh The light doesnt give a rat's ass about voltage.
The important here is amps.
