The difference between Paul and other late night talk show side-kicks is that Paul is NEVER REMOTELY FUNNY. He's just pointless side ramblings and reiterations of what Dave just fucking said. So many people could do a better job than him.
I don't watch David Letterman becasue I don't find him very funny. So I happen to come across this video today. I got to say that was an aweful idea. 2 hosts like Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien wouldn't mesh very well together. It just sounds like bad TV. I bet Letterman would have loved his idea to really happpen so that NBC would would lose viewers to his show. That's what it seems like to me.
Paul Shaffer repeats Dave's jokes right after he says them. That's been his shtick for 30 years. If Paul's ever talking too much, Dave will be the first to say something.

Why argue about adverts? They ain't gonna take them away. Just get Firefox and add the Adblock Plus plug-in, activate the Easylist filter and they are gone. You get a better browser than IE and no adverts (well, very few and certainly none of the youtube ones) on ANY website.

@MisterAkJonny Well there's gotta be a way to encourage content providers to put their content online, if CBS puts their content without ads on youtube they won't see a dime, but this way they show their ads, and the content is legal and not pirated and youtube don't have to worry about lawsuits because of bootlegged content. @MisterAkJonny With all due respect, deal with it. Having worked in broadcasting for 15 years, I can tell you that advertising pays my bills. Advertising allows me to be able to pay for internet access so I can log in to YouTube. Advertising clearly is helping YouTube "stay on the air" -- just like it does for TV and radio. A 15 second ad isn't going to kill you.
1st.) I dont feel entitled about how I feel that the Internet(as well as Terrestrial Radio & Basic Television) should be free. As was ORIGINALLY INTENDED BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT.
2nd.)My complaint is that Youtube has ads that play on virtually every video you now watch that is in some way affiliated by a network. The counter-argument is that the ads pay for the site's upkeep. Why dont the Networks pay Youtube for the free advertising they are now receiving?
1) I'm totally behind you if you wanna start up a free, reliable, quality ISP. Or convince a currently-existing ISP to do without that whole "paying their employees" thing. You can HAVE your free, antenna-based TV though. Those days were great, weren't they? Smacking the TV all the time for a better picture, etc.
2) Sounds like a fair trade to me. YouTube is granted the use of CBS's copyrighted material, and CBS has another media outlet to offer their advertisers. Me, I don't like the ads anymore than I like commercials, but they definitely don't put me into "revolutionary" mode. 30 seconds of advertising every now & then on a FREE media supermarket is not what I'd call a "big deal".
You do have a very valid point. However, I dont feel that we should have to pay for the right of communication. Essentially, thats what Youtube(or any other form of media) is. Should people get paid for the services that they provide? Yes, however those paychecks should be coming from either
a.) charging for subscriptions(i.e.; cable television)
or b.) charging advertisers more money for ads.
Initially thats what this comes down to, their lack of money. & thats unfortunate.
...i wonder what Carson Daly thinks about this. haha.

@joshuaandrews59 it can be an attempt at comedically mocking dave like he's the straight man and dave's the goof or just underlining what he is saying to solidify how smart he is to the audience who might not get it the first time.....oddly enough, dave also has a thing for repeating jokes endlessly if you tune into his show consecutively for a week or two which can get annoying despite my admiration for him.....

@MisterAkJonny Well there's gotta be a way to encourage content providers to put their content online, if CBS puts their content without ads on youtube they won't see a dime, but this way they show their ads, and the content is legal and not pirated and youtube don't have to worry about lawsuits because of bootlegged content. I actually support this model it's not a bad solution to the problem.

Getting back to the commercials on YouTube, I feel I have a right to bitch... We pay for cable, so there shouldnt be commercials, yet there are; so we turned to the Internet for out TV shows & movies, yet still have the same problems(i.e.; more commercials)...

Advertising allows me to be able to pay for internet access so I can log in to YouTube. Advertising clearly is helping YouTube "stay on the air" -- just like it does for TV and radio. A 15 second ad isn't going to kill you.

2) Sounds like a fair trade to me. YouTube is granted the use of CBS's copyrighted material, and CBS has another media outlet to offer their advertisers. Me, I don't like the ads anymore than I like commercials, but they definitely don't put me into "revolutionary" mode. 30 seconds of advertising every now & then on a FREE media supermarket is not what I'd call a "big deal".

You do have a very valid point. However, I dont feel that we should have to pay for the right of communication. Essentially, thats what Youtube(or any other form of media) is. Should people get paid for the services that they provide? Yes, however those paychecks should be coming from either
a.) charging for subscriptions(i.e.; cable television)
or b.) charging advertisers more money for ads.
Initially thats what this comes down to, their lack of money. & thats unfortunate.
