I have heard health officials tell us that it is the same strain of flu circulating this year as last year. Then why does anyone who had the vaccine last year need to get an "annual" flu shot when the strain has not changed. This makes no heath sense to me.

Because your immunity to the vaccine wanes . So you need to get immunized again with the same vaccine this year.
