@liwymi I'm not confused by conflicting advice, the only advice you need to take is your own. I posted my comment a while ago now and now my son is 1 years old. I used the cry it out technique and he settles himself for every nap and at bedtime. He's still not a clingy child! He gets attention love and affection when he's awake so I personally feel parents are pressured by these types of videos. There is nothing wrong with letting a baby cry it out. My son is a well balanced little boy!
Sorry but this has f**cked me off. There is so much pressure on parents and then someone like her comes out and talks crap about not letting babies cry. It pisses me off so bad.
Sorry to hear you've had such a negative reaction to this video and these ideas. If you don't mind I'd like to ask you some questions to understand how you are feeling and what you are needing.
Are you feeling confused because there is so much conflicting advice about child rearing?
Do you worry that even though you try your best you could be doing something 'wrong' or 'not the best way'?
Do you need confidence in and support for your efforts?
And furthermore you a patronising babies - they are more intelligent then you are giving them credit for. My son is a perfectly well, happy, NOT CLINGY baby! He is able to convey what he wants from us so never gets distressed that he's not getting what he needs or wants. So letting him cry it out has been nothing but beneficial and I know plenty of parents who do it with great results and have raised children who are NOT CLINGY!!! Please stop telling parents how to raise their children.
This is absolute rubbish. Yes a baby from birth to 6 months should not be left to cry as they do not understand that you are only next door but from 6 months onwards there is nothing wrong with leaving them to cry if they won't go to sleep. My son will NOT sleep if we are standing in the room, we could be there for hours. Is that constructive for anyone? No! So we leave the room and to begin with he would cry loads but now he moans for about a minute then drops off to sleep.
