this tune was sampled several times in drum & bass tracks, if youre interested check out "rocking you" by loz contreras, "rockin you eternally bootleg" by b-pro or circa 89 by utah jazz
From a smoky studio in the 1970s to the samplers and MPCs of hip hop producers decades later, this is magic. I wonder, though, if today's audiences will ever have the patience to allow a great composer and songwriter like Leon Ware to assemble music like this with real voices, real instruments and real soul.
We lose a piece of that with every auto-tune blip and every poorly crafted pop song. Keep funk and soul alive!
@GozerTheGozerian -You're right. Everybody wants the quick fix. The quick dollar. 60 mins of fame. Music like this is priceless and timeless. Genius at work here with Mr. Ware.
Music from what was just a really great era. An era of grown folks' music. An era of musical sensuality, which is intellectual, versus the sexuality of today, which is anything BUT intellectual in any shape, fashion, or form.
Classic which always gives me goosebumps and lump to throat. Reminds me of the year I left school in '79. Robbie Vincent used to drop this tune. Innocent days.......
I feel in love with this song when I first heard it 30 years ago. And I still am feeling this song today. The music is beautiful and leons vocals are mesmerizing. I wish he had recorded more. This takes me to another place. Just keep rockin!
@Nasydi1, oooooooooooooooo baby back in the day,. This is how we rolled. You had to write about love and real love making, It had to be love making with a plan and a reason not just sex. Until we get back to basics it will continue to be ,WTF spread it give me a ho and so on. Oh by the way this new thing they call music is getting worse. Please some-one learn to read and write music.
I love this song. It floors me at what people call music now. Leon Ware wrote music not rifs.I wish we could get back to basic music, but you would have to be able to read and write first.
Makes my eyes water as I miss my lady. The clarinet speak of love's autumnal maturity, the flute, of lightness and Spring, and his voice? He means it. An eternal classic. This song REALLY UPSETS me, which is great, in a way! True soul music.
can't nobody sample this tune. this is a classic. i've played this tune more this year on you tube than when i had the album back in 1981. this tune and the one he wrote for minnie riperton come inside my love are true classics. i can make love all night long while listening to both songs over and over. don't need no viagara when i hear this cut
Yeh, don't need no viagara when we have soul like this to keep us up all night, and make the lady happy! Soul heads make the bests lovers, ask all my ex girlfriends, lol!
man, i just get chills through this whole song! this joint has such an ethereal vibe to it. love how his vocals dont overpower the whole song and just kinda breeze in/out with it. dope as fuck!
id appreciate that alot. I checked out your channel.Seems like you write. If so, you sound original and driven by your own artistic impulses.Glad to see people appreciating these ethereal groove styles as i call them.
u probably got jazzanova's version of it. their version is good, but its just something about the original. its like u can feel the soul that was put into the song.
Where do they KEEP these gems??!! I haven't even heard this on the radio in eons! Thanks for posting! I actually have this album, but it costs so much to have stuff put on CD. I wish iTunes had it. Thank God for YouTube.
this is available on cd. Its on a compolation called Natural high..theres vols 1-4 cant remeber which one its on. Its a compo of warner bros soul music between 73-83 or something.
@dyterrell I'm surprised the US Supreme Court hasn't ruled on' 'YouTube' yet tho'.. after all they were pretty pissed at Napster and p2p tecghnology when it first hit the web .. maybe they're getting their pound of flesh in some not obvious kinda way!
God Almighty!!!! I have not heard this timeless, classic joint since 1981 (I was 13 at that time). I thought I would never hear it again... until now. Much love & many thanks for putting this up, Hamishblues. YouTube is truly a time machine.
Beautiful track. Check out the cover of this by Woody Cunningham (ex lead singer of Kleeer) from his solo album 'Universal Love' from 2000 or thereabouts. Another beautiful version
