He was an original and I loved every song he recorded. What a range! Awesome really. R.I.P. Dear sweet balladeer. You made our lives sweeter for your presents.
Regardless of how old you are, or your musical tastes may be, Roy Orison had an inate and indescribale talent for putting simple words with simple chords into very powerfull feeling emotions. My loss is that I did not understand them until just lately. Bless you Roy for what you given.
Thank you so much for uploading this. Orbison is one of my favorites. I first heard of him in New Mexico years ago when I was young--so this song brings back all those memories. Thank you.
Thumbs up if you have the album "In Dreams" I do. Song way before that film. Got a point? It's Roy Orbison, Bono never heard of Roy until this soundtrack. Enough said.
I hate to tell you folks, but this NOT Roy Orbison's voice singing this song. There are at least 10 high points and several lower range lyrics that absolutely do not match up with other versions of this song. This is not Roy's "original". Whoever posted it and claims it is original is full of crap.
@scottjackson67 I still disagree. This is either NOT roy orbison, or if it is, he certainly was under the weather when he sang it. His face is too puffy and does not LOOK like the photos of him from this period in time.
there will never be one as good there will never be a singer better... especially not a smoking singer better like he was (a smoking singer).....there will never be a more heartfelt and humble nice man, there will NEVER be another Roy Orbison
Must admit I was an ignorant git and presumed Roy Orbison would be pretty naff. This, however, is really beautiful. His voice was amazing and a classic song.
Was absolutely ground-breaking in its day. Broke the mould of the pop song - no verses, no bridge, no chorus, just splendid narrative. The work of a pop genius.
Nope. Look it up. The Beatles were Roy's opening act. So much info you can look up, all we had way back then was what was told to us. You know so much, g'head. do tell.
@nula07 Beatlemania had not even begun at that point, but yes, they were scheduled to be his opening act but Roy chose to go on first.... so Roy did in fact open for the beatles.

He was one of the best blind musicians of his day.
Ray Charles was not the entertainer this pompodored, poodle haired Orbison was.
He forged the way for Stevie Wonder, Ronnie Millsaps, and Jose' Feliciano.
Kudos to this blind guy.

What I love about this song it builds the music as it go towards the end.
Adding to it is the orchestration, which adds a dimensional value. Unfortunately, today's musician don't seem to realize it makes the music
more elated and exciting.
Another of my favorite - is BLUE ANGEL - you can't help but to realize the violin section is heard and builds up to a special ending.. LOVE IT!

Roy said he sang like he did because nobody told him it was impossible. There's a lesson in that somewhere.
