The way to use nydus is spawn it in the back of your army when you are about to engage the opponents base. Your opponent will be out of position scouting for the nydus while your bust his wall and you can rally reinfocements trough your nydus. :)

First, why did you kill it off ? Second, that was funny as hell to watch (needed Benny Hill music). Third, that's why Zerglings shouldn't go through Nydus. Not sure if it's common knowledge, but you can just hit 'S' to stop units from coming out.
