  • LMAO. Campaign ads imitate SNL parodies.

  • It seems to me the last time "Soldiers with guns" were walking the streets in Canadian cities, it was a Trudeau who put them there.

Martial Law: It's OK when Liberals do it.

  • You'd think this were a spoof.

  • *scary music* Boo, boo, ebiiiil leader, boo, hiss ! *triumphant music* Vote for us, our soldiers will only be armed with pistols ! It's not political tribalism and arrogance when we do it ! *sparkling sound*

  • I'm a Liberal, but this is a really shitty ad.

  • Soldiers with guns. In YOUR country? It's more likely than you'd think.

  • There was military presence in Quebec cities such as Montreal and QC during the FLQ crisis in October 1970.

  • Ban all protest, shoot everybody

  • @StupidGoose so...you want canada to become nazi germany?

  • This is great....doesn't even start to make up for all the crap that Harper has twisted into attack ads...

  • Soldiers in our villages. With spears. Soldiers with spears. Canadian villages. We hath not concocted thus.

  • Well, as a resident of Atlantic Canada, I'm rather happy they were there when the Saint John River flooded; and when the hurricane hit Halifax; and when another struck Newfoundland.

I'm sure people in Winnipeg, Slave Lake and the BC interior agree.

  • Wasn't Saint Trudeau the last prime minister to have "Soldiers with guns in our cities?"

  • Soldiers....WITH GUNS

  • G-20 RUBBER BULLETS, ITS A DICTATORSHIP WAAAAAH

    VOTE TORY!!!

  • At least Harper kept one promise, because I'm pretty sure G20 wasn't a dream.

  • Remember how we all laughed at this? but then G20 happened

  • I lol'd. Hard.

  • I just noticed the Librals need to specify when they aren't making something up. What if they don't say they aren't making it up?

  • :'D Oh fuck, why do we take Liberals seriously? Their OUR soldiers for christs sake, not Chinks, not Yanks, Canadians. What's the problem?

  • @canuckleful Ask the people of Libya what they think of their country's soldiers.

Did you miss the G20 last Summer?

  • @emperorinsaino This isn't Libya, it's Canada, our army are great guys.

  • @canuckleful

Is it because your soldiers have guns

    in your cities

    in canada?

I did not make that up.

  • this is disgusting

  • Wow, hope the Liberals fired that ad agency. Terrible work, Harper must have been laughing.

  • Stephen harper actually announced he wanted to increase military presence in our cities. Candian Cities. Soldiers with guns. In our cities. In Canada. We did not make this up. Choose your Canada.

lolol yeah we know their our cities was in CADANA, and daaa soldiers have guns

  • Good.

  • So who else thinks the Canadian Forces are badass? Fuck all of the socialist pieces of shit and left-wing assholes.

  • Bwa ha ha ha ha, this ad will go down in infamy.

  • GASP! Soldiers in OUR CITIES, IN CANADA, DEFENDING OUR COUNTRY!!! what has this country come to when we actually defend our selves gosh darn conservatives trying to protect canada.

  • The only time this happened was under teh order of Pierre Edjit Trudeau, a wealsly liberal.

  • @DirtyDirtyFecker why did that happen again? oh wait, was it because there were terrorists in our country? damn, what a bad reason.

  • @Konstiin I believe in giving credit to your political opponents for what they do right. It's not about being nice in politics, it's about having honor. We can be honest and have a war of words, but in the end, we owe it to ourselves to acknowledge what is true in others.

  • @mendelbot I don't understand exactly what this has to do with my comment.

Unless, that is, you missed my sarcasm...

  • @Konstiin I think I read your comment quite accurately. I agree that that Trudeau acted rightly.

  • @Konstiin it was to crack down a snow removal (no serriously Canada uses its armed forces from the never ending onslought of snow flakes)

  • @Greginda11 why do you guys keep missing my sarcasm. No it wasn't. It was because a politician was kidnapped and executed.

  • @Konstiin i did see the sarcasm, i was making a joke...

  • @DirtyDirtyFecker Distributed network warfare is the future of warfare. It happened in the past and now recurs. Among us there are people who are sending money to terrorists. There are people trying to suppress criticism of our opponents. There is no escaping the fact that our present and future enemies will attempt to bring their fights to us. In Canada. Even, and I would argue especially, if we make every effort to accommodate those hostile to our ways of lives.

  • Man that just makes the Liberals look absolutely pathetic.

  • @hafabee Telling the truth is pathetic?

  • @BoredomCorner Don't be thick. This commercial is nothing more than a pathetic attempt at scare tactics that I doubt anyone in Canada is stupid enough to fall for, it's idiotic and it's insulting.

  • @BoredomCorner Your spin on the truth is pathetic, grow up.

  • MORE FUCKING FEAR MONGERING FROM THE LIBTARDS!

  • @dexterworks Um, Harper was responsible for turning Toronto into a police state at G20, shuts down Parliament on a whim just to save his own ass, is hiding torture documents, and giving us the largest deficit in Canadian history. You call this fearmongering?

  • Steven Harper > Mitchael Iggy.

    Better Safe Then Sorry

  • @b99b12 Anyone but Harper would be an improvement (though ideally both should get lost).

  • Comment removed

  • More soldiers in our cities.....to shovel snow for the liberal elites....

  • @00Billy Um, you do know that the Tories play to the upper class as much as anyone else, right?

  • @BoredomCorner

I know the Liberal elites have fled the liberals and joined the tories rather than be un led by Ignatieff.

oh ...and you say: "...giving us the largest deficit..." ...It has to be the largest to pay off the Liberal national DEBT (not deficit)

and before you raise Paul Martins record....he added 250 billion to it. and its only 550 now.

Liberals can't accept this, don't expect you will.

  • fucking liberal retards.

  • @nakawick Oh of course, nakawick, it's totally stupid to stand up for our rights and freedoms, when your hero has been violating them for the last three years.

If any of your grandparents are veterans, they must be ashamed of how you treat their sacrifice.

  • @BoredomCorner

What the hell are you talking about?

  • I laugh when I hear liberals complaining about how nasty Harper is in his attack adds. Martin ran a dirty, ugly and hateful campaign against Stephen Harper's personal beliefs. They are no better.

  • @ZakBrownrigg123 Then rise above the hate, if you're so bothered about it.

  • At the time this ad was launched, I thought it was over the top.

After the G-20 Summit in Toronto and all the police, military personnel and heavily armed law enforment threatning people with arrest without

and Canadian courts not providing lawyers to accussed suspects.

I am slightly more inclined to believe this ad.

  • @gundamWWW Those were police, not soldiers.

Also, the controversial laws were all contained within the Public Works Act, which was provincial legislation passed by our provincial Liberals.

The ad was ridiculous hyperbole back in '06 and it's ridiculous hyperbole today. The fact that something kind of, but not really similar happened a few years later due largely to actions of the very party making the ridiculous claims to begin with, doesn't change that.

  • @KevinDolin And all of this was a FEDERAL operation -- plus Harper approved of our rights being violated, and we still don't know who told the FEDERAL security force to ignore the only genuine riot.

  • ok people saying that G 20 (an event whose controversies also have links in a Liberal provincial gov and NDP municipal gov) somehow proves the ad right seriously need to talk to people from El Salvador, Eastern Europe, South East Asia, or any place that has experienced REAL totalitarianism

  • I'm more of a centrist, but this ad just pisses me off. The reason Harper wanted to increase military presence in Canadian cities was for disaster relief

  • Prescient.

  • ..and it turned out to be spot on at the G20 summit. Toronto has become a police state... in Canada. We did not make this up.

  • @fringelife Give me a break.

  • @fringelife you're a moron. Did it not turn out to be justified by a massive and violent protest? Turned out to be a spot on move by the gov't. They smashed random shop windows. We did not make this up.

  • @fringelife Yeah...and where were the soldiers there? As far as I can recall, it was police. You know, the police that are in Toronto every day, trying to make sure people don't break storefronts, trash public property...

Oh wait, protestors did that anyway.

  • @fringelife Only because world leaders were there.

Look at the riots that took place. The extra security was needed.

I did not make this up.

Toronto has, since then, calmed down, and the police presence has returned to normal levels.

  • @LivesForJihad You obviously weren't there or saw the videos where police were telling people to leave the area, yet blocked all the exits. People were pissed off, felt like prisoners in their own city and sometimes abused by overbearing police. This is exactly why Canada could become a police state, people like you will believe that's what we need to keep us under control. Meanwhile ignoring the fact that we've caught undercover cops stirring up trouble in the past.

  • Pathetic.

  • Gee he looks angry !

  • @Carlislehanson Mr. Harper is not the only one angry with this lie-beral distortion!

    Thanks for the opening!!!

(I, and many Canadians, did not make this up!)

  • Wow and it happened.

  • This ad seems to have been spot on, if a few years too early. Harper is spending $2,000,000,000.00 on a G8 party for his ego. The biggest part of the tab is for security - Soldiers, RCMP, Police, Security Guards - some with automatic weapons. There will be tens of thousands of them - on our streets - armed to the teeth.

  • lol.

  • Ok, I'm a liberal and yeah I still support 'em today.

But...this was fucking ridiculous. I felt so damned ashamed they'd make up this crap and still have the guts to say "we did not make this up".

    Fucking hell

  • @chd2193 : You obviously didn't pay attention to the $2,000,000,000.00 Harper is paying to throw a party in his honour at our expense. And, oh, yes, the biggest portion of that tab is for soldiers - armed with automatic weapons - on our streets.

  • @FreddyFrogger Yes, yes, silly fogger....for a summit that, Mr. Paul Martin, believes should occur in Toronto.

Oh well, as they say, "a very inconvenient truth"!

    Hope I helped you!

  • Oh my god! Soldiers! Guns! Citi...(head explodes)

  • HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH sooo stupid

  • Is this supposed to make me tremble in my boots if I were a Canadian?

    Right...

  • Um. Uh.

Look, I don't like conservatism in the least, but...WTF?!

  • Pathetic.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, if you listen carefully you'll hear this:

Stephen Harper says he wants to try and save the economy.

    Save the economy.

    Politicians doing their jobs right

    With our taxes.

    Like in the US.

  • Someone need's a larger vocabulary. >.>

  • I think the point of this ad is to comment on the immense waste of tax payer money (ironically very anti-conservative) that would accompany increasing ground forces in Canadian cities. If an attack does take place in a civilian city, such as a terrorist attack, then the most efficient and most successful preventative measures typically originate with national intelligence (in the U.S., the CIA) followed by a federal military rebuttal...

  • @thefluffyshrimp ohhh I thought the liberals were saying hed put Canada ina military dictatorship

  • ...Ground forces can typically only function "after an attack" rather than being preventative, since hand guns, for instance, don't have much effect against airplanes or terrorist bombs. It's just not an efficient manner of protection against the type of dangers a Canadian city might face. Just a waste of money.

  • An overdue increase in much needed military funding and supplies, in Canada, we aren't shitting you!

  • ...in North America... on Earth... in this solar system... in the Milky Way... in this universe...

  • Don't like the Conservatives in the slightest, but no one can deny this ad is stupid. Yeah, some people don't want more military presence in our cities. I would probably count myself among those people, depending on the way they mean it. But come on. How about content?

  • Am I missing something here? What's the problem with increasing military presence in your cities?

  • "Am I missing something here? What's the problem with increasing military presence in your cities?"

    We might offend the Muslims!

    Hahaha!

  • "We might offend the Muslims!

    Hahaha!"

Wow...are you a waste of a human being. lmao

  • Another epic fail for the liberals!

  • SOLDIERS. WIT' GUNZ. IN R CITIES.

    they're making themselves sound stupid..

  • I burst out laughing no matter how hard I tried :P

  • if there were no soldiers in canadian cities, then where would all the soldiers live? would that mean we'd have a military composed entirely of hermits from the woods?

  • hahahah, wow liberals. i remember this one, how distasteful... hopefully they learn, eventually, that they really do make consistent terrible decisions. Better shape up before they hope to be voted in again by the electorate

  • well played, canada...well played. canada. you played well. well played. canada.

  • Ah, Canada. Can we Californians secede to you?

  • Yes, but be prepared for the terror of having gays marry.

  • I was afraid this ad would never end. I thought it would continue: "In Canada. Where Canadians live. Soldiers. You know, people who work for the military. In places like Toronto, which is in Canada. He wanted to more soldiers in Canada. In our cities. Soldiers have guns. Now they belong in our cities? The dictionary definition of city is a large settlement. Not just any settlement. These are Canadian settlements. And this guy wants to put soldiers, military people armed with guns . . .

  • I LOL'ed. Incidentally, the conservative attack ads from this year's campaign are even worse.

  • what, you mean those blue sweater vest ads. ya, very scary indeed.

  • Soldiers WITH GUNS! Oh. My. God. I wanted soldiers with kitties.

  • @Siroq lol

  • oh no, not soldiers

  • Lol...I love how they take what he said totally out of context.... "Haper said he likes Germany, Hitler liked Germany, Harper shares views with Hitler....We are not making this up."

  • we did not make this up LOL

  • The Liberal Party is always in support of democracy until it loses grip of power. The Liberal Party believes that there is only a democracy in Canada when they are in power and imposing thier leftwing values and policies. The Liberals believe that the only values in Canada should be Liberal ones. If you are Conservative oriented, "you really don't have a say in government". The Liberal Party like all other dictatorships around the world, believe that their ideas are the only ones that matter.

  • This ad needs a comeback in order to keep Harper out of office.

  • Soldiers with guns. Canadian cities. Canada. AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

  • "Oh geez! How intense!"

  • He said that he would put disaster relief units in select cities. The liberals were over exaggerating.

  • I love it:)

  • This was the low point for the liberals, but fuck harper. Fuck the right wing thought. Liberals and NDP as the two main opposition parties, thats what I'd like to see.

  • I like the Rick Mercer rant about this ad:

"I can guarantee you, whoever created this ad has never met anyone in the Canadian forces. I have--hundreds of them--all carrying guns--and I have never felt so safe in my life. Cripes, there's twenty-four thousand soldiers in Atlantic Canada alone. The last time I bumped into three soldiers, in the middle of the night, in Halifax, do you know what they did to me? They pushed my car out of a snowbank."

  • I never said the Liberal Party was a dictatorship. I'm just saying this campaign ad wasn't a good idea.

  • We've had soldiers in our cities since before we had cities. The soldiers in our cities right now are mostly reservists. This ad aims low!

  • What the hell, he has been in office for almost 3 years and has not put the soldiers in the streets! You mean the liberals DID make it up!

  • Well i hate both so oh well.

  • Yes he did actually. They were select cities, and, as you might know the canadian military is currently in Afghanistan. Deployed there by a liberal government. It wasnt a huge amount of soldiers anyways, more so for a safe guard.

  • GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

  • ok we all know that we have armarys and an active millitary perasents in canadian cites for obveace reasons. As i recall in the last federal election that this ad was sean as an ofencive and contraverceal ad and it realy did not help the liberals as i recal. But this ad is quite a stupid attack ad.

  • what the hell, the libs said this would happen by now! I mean damn he is almost in his 3rd year in power and has failed to do this yet LOL!!!!!

  • Pathetic. No wonder they lost.

  • thats the worst attack ad ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahahahahhaha

    wow pathetic

  • Haha, hilarious.

  • Run for your lives!! Abandon all hope, and ruuun!

  • I just wanted to say I actually did not like this campaign ad on YouTube. I thought it was terrible. This campaign ad. Terrible. On Youtube.

  • ahahhaa, well played

  • SOLDIERS? With GUNS? You guys let your SOLDIERS have GUNS?!

  • I KNOW! I CANT BELEIVE IT!

  • hahaha I am no Harper fan, but come on! oh the propaganda
