This is interesting. It's inspired by the same psalm as 'By the Rivers of Babylon' which was a massive hit for Boney M in the 70s: Psalms 137, which has a horrific last verse about killing the children of their enemies.
I will never understand why Don cheated on Betty. It's not like she didn't sleep with him and he loved her so much. He was a good husband to her in every other why. Was he a sex addict? Or was this his way of just taking a break from being Don Draper?
@XxMyLameUserNamexX Don is and has always been a very insecure person, so when he feels low (when he's being reminded he's actually Dick Whitman) he cheats to feel good about himself again. He was a good husband?? When? When he called the psychiatrist to know what Betty was telling him? When he forbade her to wear a bikini? Don is a complex human being obviously and sometimes I love him, sometimes I hate him but I would never say he was the husband of the year to Betty.
@Sciencespipo He was a good husband in a way where he listened to her and gave her random gifts and took her out. I agree with you on why he had affairs. I also think it was because he couldn't open up to Betty like he did with his mistresses. I also noticed that he only went to the other women when he was stressed but every time he was happy all he wanted to do was spend time with his family. Did you notice that as well?
@XxMyLameUserNamexX I don't think that makes him a good husband though. I mean giving her presents and taking her out is pretty minimal. Also I don't think he ever loved Betty that much, he was fond of her and she was the absolute opposite of his mom but that's it. I don't think her loved her as a person more as a representation. Not to say that Betty doesn't have flaws because she does. Don loves his children but he's never there for them, he always prefers his work and sleeping with women.
@Sciencespipo That is true, but he did give her a shoulder to cry on. Remember when she was fired from the modeling job and he knew even though she lied to him and told him she quit, he let her have her dignity. I honestly believe that Don loved Betty more than Betty loved Don. And he knew that and that"s why he kept his identity and problems away from her.
people shouldnt watch random scenes of the show just like that, it has no meaning it not near as powerful as it is watching them for the first time in context. if u wanna watch the show and get the most out of it dont watch random scenes, this is for ppl who have already seen it

It's sad to see this scene out of context. Still great, but not the perfection it was.
