There is no such thing as Coronado Island, the city of Coronado is located on a peninsula, and has a common city boundary with Imperial Beach. Some people think it is an Island. North Island is a Naval Air Station, that once was located on an Island. It was separated from Coronado by a creek or sluice that was later filled in so the whole area is connected, and one continuous land mass.
@Jobratedman Although technically you are right, most San Diego and Coronado locals at the time I lived in San Diego ALWAYS referred to it as CORONADO ISLAND. All Navy personnel referred to it as NORTH ISLAND. SO..........maybe you should correct and inform all the locals and Navy personnel of this. :-) I'd be curious what kind of response you'd get. :-)
air craft carriers can not clear da bridge they r anchored b4 da bridge & they removed the toll to they removed it after supposely paying da bridge ,but they still wewre ripping us off for several years. we currently live on the island. good vid buddy.
@sandiegosycho Now that you mention that I realize you are right. How obvious. Why would they go under the bridge? To or from where? The Strand? :-) They have to come up the east side of Point Loma around the northwest edge of Coronado Island. Thats the only way. One of the locals from the area gave me some bogus information. He said the carriers had to wait for low tide to clear the bottom of the bridge. Thats why that BS tidbit stuck with me. Well..think they ever went under the bridge?
@sandiaman1 YEAH DAT IS SOME BOGUS IMFO LOL IT SOUNDS FUNNY THOUGH...LOL BUT YEAH THE ONLY 1'S DAT R IN THE BAY R THE SMALL SHIPS. I WORKED ON THE RUSHMORE & THE USS PELELIU 7 THE NAVAL BASE ..REPAIRS FOR THE SHIPYARD. WELL ITS FUNNI CUZ I REPAIRED THE JAIL CELL FOR THE PELEIU & A COUPLE YEARS LATER THEY HAD THAT TERRORISTS HELD IN THEIR FROM THE TALIBAN.

This area is San Diego, about 8 miles north of Mexico, and the charge to cross Coronado Bridge has been dropped and it's now free to cross the bridge as of July 2002. I've been living in San Diego since 1998.
Thanks for the info guy. That day I drove across on my video was New Years Day. I just assumed the toll was dropped for that day. I always miss San Diego. Maybe I'll move back again someday.
