  • its played like a funeral dirge......too plodding and funereal

  • The other guy playing has to be Dougie's father or his brother.

They really look alot a like dont they? Love this tune.

  • I stumble upon this video whilst looking for another one of his great songs "Caledonia" it makes me proud to be scottish when such a simple tune can pull at your heart strings and long to return to Scotland.

  • This video is a gem! The musicians are great, the violin player sublime! One to treasure.

  • Lovely. I was watching a film about Estonian composer Arvo Part recently and he said someone told him a composer must love every note. The first thing that struck me about this version of Fear a Bhata is the great love with which the fiddle player plays the muisc. It is as if she cherishes and truly loves every note. Thank you.

  • Absolutely stunning. Brought a tear to my eye.

  • Wow!!

  • Added to my favorites, but I think this is my very favorite of all time...

  • Absolutely beautiful, a tin whistle would have made it just perfect.

  • I think the man playing the accordian MUST be Dougie's father. The resemblence is uncanny. Looks just like him, only older. Beautiful music. I came across Dougie's music by accident and listen to nothing else now.

  • @teluvinas No, that'd be me! :)

  • @teluvinas No, that'd be me! :) Love this video, though. All three musicians are so lost in the music, it's like they're never coming back. Absolute magic.

  • Exquisite! A song that haunts the bones!

  • It's Maire Breathnach on viola.

  • Just lovely!

  • Thanks for uploading this lovely, relaxing piece. I am heading up to Pitlochry and Perth for Dougie MacLean's "Perthshire Amber Festival" this October/November with two of my sons who can play guitar, so I'm hoping they get to jam with Dougie at some stage.

  • It's a viola ....

  • Most beautiful rendition. Violin spectacular.

  • nice one. who was playing with Dougie. went to Dunkeld years ago for a holiday. lovely place to visit. thanks for posting. Ray

  • Hi Ray. Glad you liked it, a lovely tune. We dont know who the other musicians were, if we find out we'll let you know. See you!

  • @fireflyxl5 They are Andy Thorburn on accordion and Irish fiddler Máire Breatnach.

  • Yes, I'd live in Dunkeld If i had half a million quid!

  • @killiekentman
