Not true. Without dominance of the air (and with the British having the most powerful Navy) Hitler would of had a very hard time invading Britain.

Britain defended herself in the Battle of Britain.America did not save Britain in the war, it was pretty much won by that stage especially as Russia were already marching on Berlin. America only entered WW2 in the first place because of pearl harbour.

Americans tend to forget who fought for the majority of WW2. The Usa HAD to get involved.

1. Germans got 12km away from Moscows centre.

2. Hitler wasn't stupid. Hitler didn't split his forces, but mixed them too much. Especially the decission to attack Caucasus at 1942 was good choice, as it limited movement in Volga, and bothered Soviet oilfields at the area. Soviets just defended the place too well, and only 5% of German army was combateffective.

3. Operation Barbarossa started at summer 1941, so Soviets fought for way longer than USA.

Germans had to attack at summer -43. Kursk just cried "Attack here!" with its location, and strategic situation. Sadly Zhukov also understood this, and prepared for attack in there. Again Hitler had no part on this.

This was a siege. Not a battle. Also Germans did just the reasonable thing to do. Leningrad had 5 million people on it. How you fight against that. Siege was a good choice.
