" If the children are untaught, their ignorance and vices will in future life cost us much dearer in their consequences than it would have done in their correction by a good education.-Thomas Jefferson
This was Reagan at his best. And I do believe Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Reagan would of been the best of friends.
Funny how you can see, by the posts, who is too young to remember the late 70's into the 80's...and who were most likely students in college classes taught by liberal professors. Virtually everyone during the Reagan years had an opportunity for a good lifestyle...maybe not rich, but good. It's the welfare cases and the lazy wastes of life that had no desire TO WORK for their living, instead of taking money from tax payers!
@kmf65 People also forget Reagan's incredible bravery in putting us through the horrible recession of 1981-1982, in order to fix inflation and set the table for the greatest postwar expansion in history. Those who think Clinton was a great president don't realize how much of Reagan's playbook Clinton took. Reagan was handed an economy as bad as the one Obama got, with inflation at 13 percent, eroding the wealth of everyone who saved. Three years in, Reagan had 8-9 percent growth. Obama?
@channeloftherepubic there was NOT uniterrupted growrh throughout the 80s and 90s... The econonomy was in a recession in the early 90s when Bush senior was president... The economy inproved when Clinton was president... And Reagan was only for the rich... The rich grew richer, and the poor gre poorer...
Even though I know Ronny was exaggerating about his age thereby making the joke funny, I would like to say something similar even though I was born in the late 70s (tail end of the Generation X generation).
Barack Obama, knew Ronald Reagan by growing up during his presidency and watching as he saved this country from Jimmy Carter and saved the world from the Soviet Union. And Mr. President (Obama),... YOU ARE NO RONALD REAGAN!
Ron Paul is Thomas Jefferson.
