Bebem

  • Extremely sad in my point of view , but great nevertheless.

  • Bela muziko por ĉiu okazaĵo, ne nur por Kristnasko!

  • 25 people will never know what music is....

  • i think i just found my 2nd most favorite classical song. <3<3

  • this kind of music is transcendental

makes me weep and feel good

unable to share our deepest feelings with anyone else

music is a universal power that touches anybody

  • so beautiful

  • 泣けてくる

  • beautiful sounds on this ong. :) just relax, close you eyes, open your mind and fly :)

  • On 24 December 1906, Reginald Fessenden of Brant Rock, Mass. broadcast the very first radio transmission for an audience featuring a human voice. A record of this very same piece of music played on a gramophone was included in the broadcast, making this composition the first recorded music ever played on radio.

  • Now I just remember that I played it at age of 8 or something on a simplified music sheets. Now I realize it was a popular song. I like it still!!

  • christy brown..sol ayağımdan okudum buni ordan öğrendim.

  • @Turcaeu Ah! Sol ayağım... 9 yaşımda ben de okumuştum. Ancak neredeyse tamamen unuttum.

  • Wonderful words to song: Holy art thou x2 Lord God almighty Blessing and glory In heaven art thine Earth lowly bending Swells the full harmony Blessing and glory To the lamb Forever more For worthy art thou Worthy art thou Let all nations and kindreds and peoples Give thanks to thee Forever more GIve thanks for everymore… Let all nations and kindreds and peoples Give thanks to thee Forever more
  • ESTA ES UNA MELODIA QUE LLEVA MI PERSONALIDAD AL EXTASIS AL PERCIBIR MI ALMA, LA FUENTE DE MI EXISTENCIA.

  • I will tell you what it is that makes you feel these feelings when you hear these beautiful arrangement of notes. You see music is more than sounds produced by instruments .There is a spirit within the arrangements like poetry with musical notes instead of words. And the emotions these arpeggios evoke can touch the deepest reaches of the soul. Because music is vibrations too and these pierce your body like a sword and alter your soul. This is the beauty of music. Food for the soul.

  • Wonderful! I played this on piano at X-mas concert. I enjoyed it.

  • for piano version - rsteinberg100 channel

  • This is so civilized!

  • I can't understand why you would dislike this.

  • I am looking for the lyrics to this song. Does anyone have the lyrics to this song?

  • Beautiful Melodie that brings the deepest sentiments to men...and women.

Yes, this song has words. The lyrics are about the shadow of a tree: "Ombra mai fu". Who cares! this song does not need lyrics. It is beautiful!

  • Truly Beautiful. I have a piano forte transcription of it. Bring's tears to to the eyes.

  • And it came to pass that " I said that there is no God no one better than me defended the side of an universe empty with no God, I am ashamed I couldn't have never thought that could happend to me, There is a most high, bright and eternal God"........

  • Georg Freidrich Händel

  • Handel, sei lá o motivo, "adaptou" o seu Largo de outro, anterior, feito pelo compositor Bononcini.

  • Why is there a argument over whether God exists or not here? It is a beautiful piece, and yes, Handel undoubtedly believed he did (just an obvious observation from "The Messiah" and my look into his life, ahha). But, there are no words to this song, meaning there should be no words of discrimination or hate on this page. I am certain you did not go to this video by searching, "Does God Exist?" No you searched this song, now get over it, and listen. (but while were at, I believe, ahhaa)

  • Shut up

  • This song touches something deep within me. I can't explain it. Every time I hear this song I strive to become something more than I already am. Hearing these beautiful notes changes me.. I feel as though I had to share that with someone. Unfortunately, it's to faceless people I'll never meet, because I can't explain to those around me what I feel inside. There is something truly amazing inside the human mind to make me feel this way. Whatever that may be..

  • @X3CE I completely understand what you mean

  • @X3CE That is a beautiful commentary. There is something about great music that pierces our isolation and loneliness, isn't there?

  • @X3CE So glad you shared your feelings! I love that you "strive to become something more than I already am" every time you hear this piece! You honor GF Handel and inspire me and surely countless others who read your post. Thank you.

  • @X3CE A fantastic paragraph of raw natural human emotion to read expressed into words.

  • @X3CE I think I feel that way whenever I read a really good book or hear an amazing piece of music. It really does make you want to become something greater than you've ever imagined yourself becoming. It makes it all the better to know that someone out there created this beautiful thing your listening to and it makes you wonder what kind of thoughts were going through their minds at the time when they were creating whichever thing they had created.

  • @X3CE I completely agree with your response. I too feel the same way. One elaboration I might add: "I don't believe there is something truly amazing inside the human mind! However, I am convinced there is a spirit, that I call God, who is inside the human mind that gives us these sacred moments if only we corresond to his invitation.

  • @X3CE the reason you're crying is because handel is creating wonderful music reminding us how beautiful the human being can be and yet in this modern age financiers are destroying the principle. we cry because we are strong yet helpless :( :)

  • @X3CE This music moves my SOUL-it evokes emotions of gratitude and thanksgiving in me-there are t no words that can express the heart rending ache of joy and gratitude that I feel when I hear it. I do think there are those of us who are MOVED by sounds and feel the music of emotion-perhaps you are one of those people, I am too. God bless!

  • Real athiests are 'over it." It's always the ones who have mistakently adoped 'Atheism" as a substitute for the religious 'ism' they are reacting against.

I wholly second whomever said the place for that person's therapy session is NOT in in the comments columns of classical music on YouTube.

  • Thank you as you have added true laws 6 and 7 to mine. There is also the question of creating left handed amino acids in the right order, and right handed sugars. Nature cannot do that by itself.

Back to this piece, one of the greatest sustained melodies ever!!

  • Atheism is illogical. Many atheists equate evolution with science. This is not an observable fact, but a logical fallacy. The arguments for design are countless, however there is no point in arguing with "willfully ignorant" individuals. Starts cannot create themselves. Boyle's gas law would prohibit a star from forming. The law of the conservation of angular momentum states all objects will spin the same direction if from the same source. Yet spacial objects spin in opposite directions.

  • @goodshorts *stars not starts :)

  • All God-related arguments aside, this piece is beautiful. At the right time it could bring tears to my eyes.

  • @jen975318642 well said

  • The true Science Laws: 1... What is designed has a designer; 2... Everything is in entropy, not evolving at all - the more time, the more decay;3... Explosions do not create, they destroy, so the Big Bang is ludicrous; 4... DNA cannot add new information to make another kind; 5... Life can only come from preexisting life.

Some scientists know this and are correct.

  • There was a point on TV that the Stars evolved their light, and man evolved to see the light. C'mon that's gibberish. The abstract universe can see that far ahead, or by trial and error it managed to get there? The most scientific statement that can be said is an intelligent Being wanted us to see the light!!

  • I've been sifting through some of the comments here, and I think people are confused. When xcode394 said, "its always atheists on youtube videos that start talking trash," he doesn't mean ALL atheists talk trash on youtube. He means ALL trash-talking people are atheists. Obviously this is not true (ALWAYS), but in this case, I have to agree. A religious person commenting, "God is so good in this music," does not want to invoke a fight, but an atheist usually comes along to argue against him.

  • @KardOfHeart I'm not sure about religious wars on youtube, and you make a well-pointed and written argument, perhaps not one I necessarily agree with, but one must ask oneself how often wars in the real world are started because somebody didn't believe in a god...

  • @twentythreepointfive kardofheart is exactly what i mean. the trash talking ppl are mostly atheists. when someone says " wow this music shows God's love" the atheist that has to say " it also shows that you believe in lollipop land", and about the wars, world war 2 had some of the most casualities in human history. hitler, stalin, Mao were all antireligious and atheists. the difference is christians realize that war started in the name of God was wrong but no atheist has done so in the same way.

  • What has religion got to do with this beautiful music? NOTHING! You can enjoy this beauty, regardless of what inspired it. This music is for all ears, what you relate it to, is your own choosing. The meaning of the melody is up to the individual.

  • Even though I'm not a religious person, I do enjoy listening to Bach, Mozart and Handel's sacred/church music for their beauty and often touching melody. Even non-religious people can listen to religious music, all it takes is tolerance and an open-mind!

  • Even though I'm not a religious person, I do enjoy listening to Bach, Mozart and Handel's sacred/church music for their beauty and often touching melody.

  • How about we stick to comments relating to the music that is playing?

  • super !

  • no need for explanations or dissertation............listen....feel.....beautiful.......thats enough for me.............gets me every time

  • Fine piece of music from a fine composer.... The GREAT MR HANDEL.

  • I HATE MUSTARD ON MY CHEESEBURGER!!!!

  • Beautiful song, This song reminds me the nature, the lakes, the mountains, the woods, the birds, the ocean, the flowers, the animals, and the rain, is absolutely beautiful this song, it makes me cry of happiness!!! :-)

  • Jesus Christ, how in the hell does a shitstorm religious debate like this start in the comment section of a beautiful piece that needs absolutely no commentary?

  • Your arguments essentially boil down to a belief that a world without religion would be MORE violent, oppressive and egotistic than a world where everyone belonged to a religious group. Look at the demographics: they clearly show that all of the world's most tolerant and peaceful countries also happen to be among the LEAST religious, with no exception. The Scandinavian countries and New Zealand generally top the list - in all of these countries more than half the population are not Christians.

  • Comment removed

  • If you can't prove that god exists though, then how can you justify, for example, tax exemption of for religious organizations? I'm sure you will now say that Christian groups are especially generous and do a lot of good. But I have a number of objections to this. Firstly, there are many non-religious organizations who are charitable, and secondly, Christianity has and continues to be a dangerous and divisive force and promotes (and sometimes starts) conflict in many parts of the world.

  • i live in istanbul, and my id says that im a muslim and i love this piece. So stop littering this wonderful piece with politic religious shit

  • I really like this melody, it's very relaxing and peaceful. I was reading the comments, and I saw xcodes394's comment on religion and I didn't like how prejudiced his view of atheists was. I am undecided whether there is or isn't a god, but I think it's fair to say that since every major world religion claims every other world religion is "wrong", "false" or "sinful", that all major world religions are not the true religion since the majority of the world see each particular religion as incorect

  • @Sp33dyish no i am not prejudiced. in alot of videos, a christian simply says stuff like " thank you jesus" or " wow god is good" who minds their own business and then comes an atheist who replies like " theres no evidence for jesus" or " this shit doesnt prove that God is real". i mean come on, the christian person wasnt even talking to you. he was simply expressing his opinion in a neutral way that was not meant to be offensive to any1. yet the atheists comes forward in an offensive manner.

  • @xcode394 Yes you are prejudiced, "prejudice is a prejudgment, an assumption made about someone or something before having adequate knowledge to be able to do so with GUARANTEED accuracy". And you said "its ALWAYS atheists on youtube videos that start talking trash". The fact is it isn't ALWAYS atheists that trash talk, and the prejudice comments you made prove that. Please stop been so ignorant and let people watch the video without making so many prejudice comments.

  • @Sp33dyish okay fine if you want me to be politically correct, atheists does it MOST of the time cuz from what ive seen in many many videos and even real life, 95% of the time, its the atheist that starts talking trash. like for physicalsimforever, that kinda comment is somewhat offensive to us christians. he may be an atheist, but ppl on here didnt say " oh look you stupid atheists, this is proof of God". no they merely said " wow i think this shows God" in a neutral way.

  • @xcode394 Well from what I'v seen, it's people like you who do it most of the time. You made 100% prejudice comments against all atheists. Maybe the reason you think it's always atheists that start arguments is because you start them and don't realize. So you just blame it on the person your arguing with. And physicalsimforever didn't make offensive comments. If you found them offensive, maybe it's because your faith isn't so strong and you can't bare loose to only proof of god you have. =S

  • @Sp33dyish no thats actually not how it is cuz the comments im talking about are about other ppl. i flip through comments and its the atheists that usually starts talking shit to the christian who simply writes something like " oh thank you jesus for your sacrifice"..... and btw, im lmfao . my faith isnt strong enough and i cant bare to loose the only proof of God i got??? hahahahaha. wait, let me say that again. hahahahaha. trust me, i got more evidence for His existence than you can imagine.

  • @xcode394 lol im a christian and so are you. But you are a highly ignorant christian, you say all atheists start fights, when you are the one who starts them with your ignorant comments. Ofcourse we don't have any proof of god... that is why we should have faith. You give all christians a bad name and cause atheists to wonder if all christians are as ignorant as you. Please get a brain or get lost.

  • @xcode394 The only sort of evidence that is real evidence for anything is done using the scientific method, which is as close to an objective way to find things out as we have. If a mountain of evidence obtained that way comes to light in support of the supernatural, then I will become a Christian. The irony of all this is that many scientists have been (and still are) Christians, but none of their discoveries have supported Christianity.

  • @PhysicalsimForever the time of when i argue with atheists like yourself have passed. you have no idea how many times ive done so. ive offered plenty of evidences to support my view and yet they still stayed ignorant& stubborn. now im just likeyou believe what you choose to believe & ill do the same for me. in the end, only time will tell whos right. if we die and nothing happens, then congrats to you atheists. if there is a God, then i will be happy to see Him when i die. only time will tell.

  • @xcode394

Whoa, y'all are still at it after, ah, three months, is it?

Why not simply show him why he's so "obviously" wrong instead of writing a big fat paragraph of meaningless rhetoric? His assertion on a correlation between secularism and quality-of-living still stands. If you want to argue, why not do it in a way that is followable, without jumping away from any point that threatens your stance?

  • Religion aside. This melody is full of love and thats one thing we all seek. Lovely melody

  • Gentle grandeur.

  • Nobiscum Deus.

  • I think it's kind of ironic how people are talking about this song being played at weddings and funerals. If you research it a bit, in this aria, Xerxes is praising his favorite tree as "Never was there a shadow of branches, sweeter, more refreshing or more gentile." He is talking about life; the bitter sweetness of it; all our meetings and partings, in life and death. You have all experienced this song, without even knowing it. Your loved ones smile upon us in heaven with Handel.

  • Georg Friedrich Händel

  • Thank you for all the kind words on the loss of my mother. It is greatly appreciated.

  • Beautiful. Reminds me of my daughter's wedding. The bridesmaids came down the aisle to this. It was so lovely.

  • Just enjoy this serene moving beautiful piece of music. I certainly believe that Handel is seated very close to God, whatever you perceive him or her to be. that make sense? No arguments, no hurts, just enjoy.

    steffierig

  • @steffierig That makes sense ! I love Handel's compositions !!

  • It is amazing piece, and apparently very popular; therefore, I cannot believe the controversy it has caused on here (YT). This song has nothing to do with race, age, gender, or religion.

  • It makes me feel sad but I still love it enormously....

  • A Great piece by the Greatest composer who ever lived, Handel to him we bow the knees

  • M mum got married to this song haha

  • I imagine people dropping their weapons and stop killing each other to listen to such a beautiful piece.

This music can heal the world! So beautiful.

  • I also had this played at a friends funeral, this is haunting enough, but listen to it played well on an Organ-(sadly not available (played well )that is ) on youTube.

  • your a dumbass

  • I immediately went O_o when I heard the similarities of this song to "ombra mai fu" at around the 1:10 mark. Very eerie. Good piece though.

  • 20 People are smart as a rock.

  • Savršenstvo.

  • C'est quand même mieux que " back in the sun" mais dans une boum c'est pas le top...

  • Mio Dio.Divino.

  • Nice! In fact, very nice! I sometimes wonder if Handl couldn't be played a bit less nicely. That'd be nice. There's some gusto and flamboyancy in Handl that doesn't always surface in modern reproductions.

  • For example, I could say: Handel was exposed to the works of many composers during his time in london. He, analyzing the works of earlier Baroque masters and by his own personal endeavors, found a theme somewhere, expanded and modified it into what we now know to be his largo from Xerxes. A far more plausible explanation, and it makes the music greater as it is his and only his acheivement.

  • Simply because Handel's music is gorgeous does not mean God exists. You just spat out the aging, rusty 'argument' from Design: 'it [insert thing here] is so amazing it could not possibly be here save by design' and the 'argument' from personal incredulity: 'I believe it [insert] was due to God, therefore God exists'. It really is no better than that. Saying something is due to God is simply a convenient excuse for not finding a proper explanation.

  • @PhysicalsimForever dude come on man. i dont care if youre an atheist but do we really need to start a religious argument on a video like this??? if youre an atheist, thats fine, just please dont start saying that people are dumb or that you cant find anything to say when they relate something to God. its always atheists on youtube videos that start talking trash.

  • @xcode394 No it's not always aetheists, such as that comment

  • @HylianSwordsmanTy ummm no it really is... it is usually atheists that starts saying insulting things about religion, such as that...

  • @xcode394 I agree, on any video be it Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and such I assure you that there is a "does God exist" argument. I hate to discriminate, but yes it is usually the Atheist that starts it.

  • @LewisFawley agree with you!

  • @LewisFawley well thank you...

  • @LewisFawley Ok, proof it then. Proof that all athiests start fights. Reality, there is nothing that unites us.

  • @LewisFawley

That may be true, but it's an important argument to have is it not?

  • @LewisFawley "but yes it is usually the Atheist that starts it".

    You are wrong.

    I am an Atheist.

  • @xcode394 This video proves that Handel did exist, not sure about any Gods though ! You may be right in your critique of atheism, by saying that atheist always start talking trash is an untruth equivalent to to the lie that all religious people are dumb. Please follow your own high standards of Socratic discussion all the time. Thank you!

  • @xcode394

Come on you, as well. "its always atheists on youtube videos that start talking trash."

    Really?

  • @717i yes really. christians most of the time simply state their opinions in a neutral non-offensive way until the atheist comes with a reply that insults him. i would even talk to my friend about God and then my atheist room would be like " oh yea didnt jesus rise from the dead as a zombie and ate ppl's brains?" comments like that is just as common on youtube. christians mind their businesses while the atheists comes with the comment of trying to be a douche the christian.

  • @717i roommate* not room

  • @xcode394 I'm an athiest, and I think its beautiful. There are things in the Universe that are beautiful. There are people that are kind and good. Sometimes beauty happens. I'll settle for that.

  • @normanefox We are all beautiful; the lowest to the highest; that which we think and believe is our beauty. Created in his image, we are God. Through our experiences God creates the leading edge of this Universe.

  • @xcode394 you are quite wrong. You yourself are an example.

  • @xcode394 hey dont discriminate against atheists!! its not all of us! I am strongly atheist but I still love baroque music (which most often times encompass religious aspects)!!!

  • @ModellMeister i am not discriminating against atheist. and you know, being "strongly atheist" doesnt make sense. an atheist is one who does not believe in or have faith in a deity or in a religion. religion requires faith and loyalty. how much sense would it be if i said i was strongly anti- santa claus? you either have faith or dont believe at all. so by saying that youre a strong atheist means that you have faith in atheism and is referring to it in a religous way, which i find ironic.

  • @xcode394 First, strongly atheist makes sense. Atheist is just not believing in religion. STRONGLY atheist (or antitheist) is when you dont believe in religion and religion should be eradicated. Second, its not ironic at all. Its OK to obsess over something if its correct, religious people obsess over fairy tales

  • @ModellMeister That's just it, though. You have no way of proving one way or the other correct. Absolutely no way. I believe in scientific facts as well, but they can't explain everything. You probably think religion is bad because religious people are intolerant, but look at yourself. Why can't you just live and let live?

  • @Jaxin30993 Ok, I admit freely that I am intolerant. Of mature adults believing in fairy tales, that is. Sure theres no way to prove 100%, but theres all the evidence for science and none for religion except one book written thousands of years ago where rivers turn to blood, a supernatural being invents plants before sunlight, created humans from dirt dolls, where "He" is all knowing and loves everyone, but for some reason killed more people than the devil and caused tragedies in human history

  • @ModellMeister Well, believe what you want. I don't care. Neither of us will know who's right until it's too late to have this argument anyway.

  • @Jaxin30993 exactly... also known as the pascal wager....

  • @ModellMeister you know, i would really hate to start a religious argument on a video like this tho i would destroy you in one if i did get in it cuz i have debated with numerous atheists and have left them thinking while my faith was still strong. you can call atheism " the absolute correct thing and that religion is all fairy tales". i could care less, really. religion is not just a belief system or stories, its a cultural thing. destroying religion is destroying culture.

  • @xcode394 I dont know, I as well have crushed many an ignorant religious person, even converting a few to believe in science. I merely woke them up. But let us not argue whats right for people to believe or not, people can believe/do whatever the heck they want to, just enjoy the music :)

  • @ModellMeister oh dont get me wrong. I believe in science. In fact, I love science, but that does not keep me from believing in or having faith in God. And yes youre right, its up to ppl to decide what they want to believe in so lets just enjoy the music.

  • My father used to play this masterpiece on his violin...moving.

  • I went to a Christian kindergarten and grade school. One of our teachers, a regular classroom teacher, had minored in music and was an aficionado of classical music. In our little school, you graduated three times. From kindergarten to grade school; from sixth grade to the seventh; and from the eighth grade. Instead of Pomp and Circumstance, the teacher chose this as our graduation march music. Large from Xerxes brings great memories of some great people to me.

  • Thank you. Late at night, while all alone in my quiet office, I discover a way to express my feelings and my thoughts that suit me. The thought of God whispering to me in ways other than what my ears hear become more and more evident as I grow older. I am beginning to accept the idea that God does reveal himself to us over and over every day. We think that for God to reveal himself we must be able to see him with our eyes and hear him with our ears. Now I see him and I hear him. Have faith.

  • do not give in to sin,for it shall consume you into a world of darkness.

    enjoy your life

  • this was the first record to ever be played on the radio! look up reginald fessenden

  • With words...

  • For Tara Simone RIP

    Love, mum xx

  • Barock..... Musik für die Seele, traumhaft schön!

  • Also known as Ombra Mia Fu

  • @ivabobic auf einem weissen Pferd und der fliegt grade vorbei........................

  • I am choosing this piece for a Velvet Knights drum corps audition on the baritone horn; currently, I think it may get me into a nice and high chair. It is such an amazing piece to listen to.

  • This is incredible. I heard the london symphony orchestra version of this first. Both versions are beautiful.

  • I chose this song for the Prelude to our wedding ceremony.

We celebrated our 48th anniversary yesterday. I really enjoyed listening to it again on YouTube.

  • Why do everybody write about justin bieber in all topic ?

  • @Omega9935 What is "justin bieber"? And why should someone care about it when listening to something what was sent to us directly from Heaven and written down by G. F. Handel?

  • Thank heavens Handel is no Justin Bieber !~

  • @justinbieberforking you idiot

  • @justinbieberforking i will kill you for sure

  • @justinbieberforking Obvious Troll is Obvious.

  • @justinbieberforking grrkadrrka, theres a troll under the bridge!!

  • Wunderbar

  • @TheTexn That's not a verse from the scripture. Beautiful, but not from the bible.

  • Amazing!

  • WONDERFUL!

  • I like the vocal version the best, but I can't find it. This orchestra version is great! The tone of the violins is sometimes so pure and sonorous that it sounds for all the world like a human voice. And unlike some recordings, the quarter notes underneath in the violas and 2nd violins aren't plodding at all.

  • @straussgirl96

hey, you have to look for ombra mai fu ;)..

    ww.youtube.com/watch?v=h0PcHEdSpnA&feature=related

    enjoy it!

  • Excellent!!! Perfect!!!

  • What a wonderful piece of music......makes me think....

And, what a wonderful composer Handel was...an inspiration for all.

He is by far my favorite classical composer.....i could listen all day :)

  • Damn it! I want a wig like Handel!

  • My mom died 200/09/05 and this beautiful song played while we carried her coffin in and out the church. My heart will break everytime I hear it. RIP Hildegard Piek, you were a remarkable person.
