  • Damn that was my family's summer house... so many great memories. so sad

  • Aloha!

We at Fair Wind plan to join the clean up efforts in Kealakekua Bay as early as tomorrow. We will bring the boat down to help. We really hoped to be there sooner, but our office in Keauhou Bay was also hit hard and needed to be cleared. If there is anyone organizing the clean up they can contact me at Fair Wind 322-2788. Otherwise we will just see you down there. Mahalo! Marleen

    Mahalo Nui Loa Marleen!

About a dozen of us were in the water today pulling up debris.

We had a few small boats which was a HUGE help.

So, having you all there will be FANTASTIC! 'trb103's note below indicates professional help is on the way!

So far, it has just been a few locals meeting out there and doing what we can.

You are welcome to call me with your ETA and I'll meet you out there tomorrow.

If I don't answer, I'm already in the water. 769-4406

  • Aloha for your malama! We are non-stop on this end arranging for the removal of the house and have a team of professional divers to collect debris. We wouldn't recommend anyone walking along the pali however, that is very dangerous. Thank you so much for your aloha!

    Mahalo Nui Loa!

I'M SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS!!!

I've been out there all day today free-diving and collecting TONS of debris with a small group of locals.

For sure everyone helping right now knows that they do so at our own risk.

But having the toxic things sit there for even another day is too hard to bare the though of.

Great to know that someone(s) coming SOON with the equipment to get the big stuff.

So glad to hear you are on it!!

  • Thanks for the update! Amazing the dolphins were there so quickly after the Tsunami. We are looking forward to our stay.

  • We are coming for our vacation on the 21-30 and thought we would have amazing snorkeling at the bay. Does not sound like it will be cleaned up by then, instead of being disappointed, we will join in the efforts to clean up too. See you soon

  • @wmathias1 Mahalo Nui Loa for your Aloha Spirit! Hopefully we will have most of the cleanup done by then.

The dolphins were here playing the morning after the tsunami. Mother Nature is so amazing.

  • Great work Alex,

    Mahalo-
