@nestorcadario better late than never, and don't worry about age - it's just a myth that you had to discover/play/learn everything when you where in kindergarten to be good and awesome.
@nestorcadario i started cello at 17, i am now 19 and playing the same voice as people who played all their life.. all you need is passion and effort and you will learn faster than you can imagine.. also im playing with a 40 year old who started 3-4 years ago ;)
@sofuckyouyeah You must be very happy....I could learn to play any instrument except some of piano, but instinctive...not reading the music. Now, in my last years, I regret my
I just saw the movie about her & now I love her music. I've now listened to almost all the recordings I could find here. It is so great that we have these recordings.KC

Whatever happened to the cello pieces Jackie's mother composed for her? Do you know? And the part I think was about the baby polar bear at the zoo? Does anybody know?
I do wish this was the recording of the first movement of Brahms' Sonata No. I. Du Pre is one of my favorite cellist, and I'm playing that solo this year.
anyway, this is not the Brahms cello sonata in E minor is it? I think the right one is the one played by Rostropovich and Serkins, if you type Brahms cello sonata it'll be one of the firsts to appear
This is definitely the Brahms cello sonata in E minor No. 1, its the 3rd mvmt. This is just Du Pre's recording, it actually sounds a lot different from Rostropovich.
Pity, the Brahms cello-sonatas are probably the best chambermusic pieces ever written; and among the very, very few du Pré never understood and subsequently couldn't play. It's not honouring her and her talent to put this recording up anywhere.
what a talent. it's so sad she couldn't play more. and died so early :(

@nestorcadario Don't apologize- you have better writing than a lot of native English speakers . . . and yes, Brahms is awesome!

So, there's Barenboim banging away in his crass, ego-driven way again. Shame she hooked up with him.

@boetie82 My thoughts exactly. I really can't stand that guy, his music, his attitude, or anything about him.

Sur cette oeuvre, il convient d'écouter Catherine Collard et Suzanne Ramon. Difficile ensuite d'apprécier une autre version.

I love this piece and of course her playing as she is an idol of mine, but a video would have been better!
