It is a nicely done video, but I would not show it to my child with wrong language used. Why don't you make a version using proper russian alphabet not a romanized translation? Kids are not stupid.
I am trying to find ways to increase my children's exposure to Russian language while living in the US. This is an awesome program, but I will NOT buy it because it does not show the correct language. As an experienced kindergarten teacher, part of learning the language is learning the alphabet and phonetic prinicpals. I do hope you update this. Also, I like how Pim asks questions, but wishes that there was adequite wait time for kids to formulate the answers themselves. - Amanda
we made a deliberate decision to use a phonetic, romanized translation of the Russian script for our DVDs, so even non-native speaking parents would be able to understand and help their children learn with Little Pim. Unfortunately, we will not release a version with the Cyrillic. But we have found great success with children learning the language this way. It is the sound they're paying attention to. Let us know if you have any further questions.
I got very excited until I noticed that weird words showing up on a screen. This is a very cool idea, but I will NEVER allow my kid to watch it - YOU WILL NEVER LEARN language correctly by using non-Cyrillic characters to identify words for kids on a screen for words in Russian. Kids learning by utilizing visual memory. Sad, very good idea, but poor representation. I wish I could turn it off.
@goomtroop: I think your idea of learning a language is to far outside the square for a child.
I learnt Russian all by MYSELF as a child Approx (8 years) and I never went to Collage/University. I learnt the alphabet in my own time "just before I visited Chernobyl". And to think none of my family know Russian (Or any other bloody language). I Know the alphabet and I am teaching my wee 7 month old this beautiful language.
She can love this language or break my heart and hate it.
This is the coolest thing ever! I'm learning russian right now and I wish that my parents showed me this!!! I am so going to use this for my kids haha
