Try to train for union with one another and not to fight against. Leave past in the past and do not revive it. It is upon you to build all that is good. How can you do it? Stop fighting and continue with your training. Search for the secrets of the martial arts and leave things that are no longer important. Art was given to you with a reason. And you should care for its evolution.
Hy to everyone. I saw that after 2 years, there are still debates running about Tae Kwon - Do. Debates are running about who is the creator and "this is better than that". Students of TKD, you should seek this what is called the Heart of martial art and not how you can beat or harm. You fight for who is right and who is wrong and even what TKD is right and yet history is changing from dojo to dojo. These are acts of ego. And Art should teach you to abandon it.
it is a sad day when people only want to learn a martial art so they can destroy others. oh general, as long as i live and breath, i swear i will uphold all the good of the art, and ensure my students learn it for the well being of humanity, not for abuse or destruction.
i dont know why people are saying that it is ineffective in street situations. my instructor had lessons under the general himself, and he taught us many self defence movements for street use - you dont need to mess up or even kill your opponent you just need to do enough to get away from your attacker - if you look through korea history, korea always defended, never attacked - hence taekwondo being a defensive martial art. real takewondo practioners know this well.
i like tae kwon do and did it for many years, ITF. but at the end of the day, Bruce Lee had the right idea. These rigidised systems are inefficient in real life combat. simple as that. good for your health, flexibility, integrity, discipline, etc. but as for real life combat without referees or rules...better look elsewhere.
I practice this style of Tae kwon-do minus the sine-wave which he added much later to the art. I think that he made a big mistake when he did that. Traditional Tae kwon-do (the art that Jhoon Rhee introduced to America and was taught to the Korean Military) is probably the best art on the planet.
@Karma42347017 hey dumb fuck I love ITF I love WTF u eat shit!!! grandmaster general choi hong hi invented TaeKwon-Do!!! therefore he invented all the techniques u practice. WTF came from the TaeKwondo students that general Choi taught reintroducing the art back into korea. Its great theres not that much difference between the itf and wtf styles except for fucks like u
Consider this, someone has spent year acquiring skills in ITF TKD, probally reaching Master status. Now General Choi says we are going to sine wave. That is problematic. He studied Shotokan, and the forms are almost identical to Shotokan forms (Heians). I got a serious question for any advanced TKD person why the contradictions in the art all the time spent sport sparring less time with applying the forms? Also, how does the power generation of sine wave help with defense, is the sine wave used?
It does matter!!!! The truth need to be told. Dont act like this guy was a true or real martial artist like Mas Oyama or Ki Whang Kim. Cause he wasnt.
Of course the tooth past cant be put back in the tube but be real about the history.
@Kinghercules Fucking douche what the fuck do you know, did you train with or under Gen. @Kinghercules Bruce Lee was a highly skilled martial artist, you on the other hand are unknown, you need to shut the fuck up and check yourself, I bet you can not even do a side kick, and if you can it probably looks like shit, dipshit.

Anyone who learns ITF taekwon do will have a very strong foundation and able to be adapted to any other art if he or she wisher to do so. WTF has excellent sparring opponent. Gen. Choi was hoping to reunit ITF & WTF.
The sine wave is slow and makes techniques unbalanaced. People have been doing damage with standard hip twisted punches long before the sine wave. I believe the sine wave in part is something to differentiate Tae Kwon Do from karate. This giving Tae Kwon Do a Korean identity, when in fact it is Shotokan.
I can't believe there is still the ITF and WTF bullshit going on. Neither one is better than the other. People who are in ITF get this mentality that they are greater than everyone else. I know, I was in it for 8 years. I quit that garbage and thank god I did.
@cyber649 not all ITF people think that way, i know i dont - i have a few friends who study WTF and they are good community minded people. i just wish we could all get along - i just wish all people of all disiplines would just get along and be proud they are doing a martial art they love :)
Although yourself might be an ITF participant but I hope you could respect others and what they love. Training martial art is both mind and body, disrespecting already shows your lack of training in the mind. I myself train WTF taekwondo yet I respect both ITF and WTF as well, they have their ups and downs, admitting ITF has kept the traditions while WTF moved on. I think they are both worth to be trained. So please please, don't say bad things about wtf
@ktang2k8 I totally agree with you. My best friend started ITF the same moment as me, but he switched to WTF because he wanted to specialise in sparring and sparringcompetition. I didn't follow him because i really enjoy tul (or poomsae in WTF-terminology). So everytime i hear someone from ITF offend WTF i feel upset. I think they both have their advantages, and even if there is a better martial art, one can only judge for oneself which is better by practising both.
People often believed that TKD is based on Taekyeon, the "ancient form" of TKD. But, it's not true. It is to be noted that TKD "started" as a Korean version of Shotokan Karate, though TKD is now a very different matial art from other forms of Karate in many ways. By the way, Taekyeon has nothing to do with those Karate and TKD.
@jkandsd idd, yet general choi hong hi was trained in both taekyon and karate. He used some techniques from both to create taekwondo, but scientific laws were a greater influence then either, especially the theory of power, of which the sine wave, hip twist and kneespring were derived. The main link between taekyon and taekwondo is the fact that the general felt the need of a new national martial art, after taekyon was mainly abolished during the japanese occupation of korea.
How do i match a good video like this? I must create a tribute video to the Creator of Taekwon-Do, our founder General Choi Hong Hi for the Hawkes Bay ITF TKD school...
Feel very forunate that I had the chance to train with Gen Choi but he did not create Taekwondo he gave it it's name. He was lower ranking than GM Lee of chung do kwan and GM Yoon byoung in of chang moo kwan his real power lie in the military most instructors were ready to use taesoodo

Gen Choi pulled ITF outta his ass. Lets be real. Read the history. He only created it because he wanted to be a grandmaster and to get rid of the Japanese elements out of the Korean martial arts. The stories about TKD being connected to the ancient Korean arts is BS. Some of the Koreans that was there during that time had came out and said Choi made up the stuff. He HAD A 1ST DAN IN SHOTOKAN! How does that give you the right to create an art??
@Kinghercules You really are an idiot, my grandfather has a 1st dan in Shotokan, I do ITF TKD, there really is a big fucking difference, retard. Read Gen. Choi's Memoirs, there's more to it than him only creating it for the basic reasons you just gave, by the way, where do you get you fucked information from, a fucking website.
@Kinghercules DUDE STFU ALL MARTIAL ARTS IS RELATED SHAOLIN KUNG FU AND DID YOU KNOW YOUR STUPID SHOTOKAN KARATE IS ORIGINATED FROM INDIA? YEAH IT AINT EVEN JAPANESE THEY STOLE IT LIKE THEY STOLE ERRYTHING CAR DESIGNS IDEAS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ETC STFU
@WorldOfIvillis i must agree.. japanese is a freaken dumb ass fuckers... they try to dteal everything and if they succeed they say things like whatever they stole is jspanese and its from japan. did u know they even stola land from russia and when they lost the war they gave it back but they said it were theres and the russians took the land from them. and they stole bunch a things from korea too and say its theres starting from way back in time bec they were to poor.
@Kinghercules From what I understand Gen. Choi wanted to design a progressive martial art that used science in place of tradition and would constantly improve over time. The main influence was Karate (that was taught in the Japanese occupation of Korea) mixed with the kicking of Taekyyon as Korea wanted to stamp its own identity on the art. However, biggest influence is it's scientific approach with emphasis on evolution of techniques.
@Evolutionrunbackward the funniest shit I heard....let alone 20 years later after the TKD boom of the lat 80's and early 90's it is a broken martial arts full of sheeps and lemmings who have not moved past its telegraphic moves and single one steps that teach you no individualism. haha you just spewed out a lot of bullshit. Rigid footwork? haha ITF is the exact way man your a fool.
@Evolutionrunbackward WTF --> ITF, i quess that ITF is like more developed form of Taekwon-Do. And the movements are not "incorrect" or "correct" its own way of Taekwondo and ITF is it own's.
@hukkelipukkeli u couldnt be more wrong. . . itf taekwon-do is the traditional form of taekwon-do. it was created the founder of taekwon-do, general choi.
I read in a martial arts' book called From Lee to Li that the general was released from prison just a few days before the Japanese were going to execute him.
are u sure! wtf is not even good for srlf defense? they still can kick, they practice the same, just a different regulation. becasue itf wear shoe, u alway wear shoe on the street. and wtf is nothing, is just a big competition
Taekwon-Do oath: 1. I shall observe the tenets of Taekwon-Do. 2. I shall respect the instructor and seniors.3. I shall never misuse Taekwon-Do.4. I shall be a champion of freedom and justice.5. I shall build a more peaceful world. Taekwon-Do tenets: Courtesy (Ye Ui) Integrity (Yeom Chi) Perseverance (In Nae) Self-control (Geuk Gi) Indomitable spirit (Baekjeol Bulgul) Attention! (Charyot!) Grand Master (Saseong Nim) Bow (Kyong Ye) Taekwon! rest in peace master
WTF is now olimpic sport, using only legs, kind of making a show.
ITF is classic.. was meant to use many different hand techniques, sometimes even grappling. And it had some kind of spirit, making it a way of life, but I can barely describe it. :)
Thanks to General Choi for tha taekwondo ITF!!!we are going to remember him always as the father of this amazin martial art and the honorable man that he was!
If someone were to sit down and tell you the story of General Choi Hong Hi...I think you would be quite impressed with all of his life's accomplishments and bravery. There isn't space here to do so or I most certainly would. He was quite a man and I enjoyed his schools very much. I had the honor of meeting the hightest ranking officials in the world in I.T.F.-U.S.T.F. Taekwondo. Best wishes.
Yes. This is true. Did you know that general Choi and Mas Oyama were best friends? Oyama was great in Karate. And Choi invited him in Korea once. There he visited his family and friends. Before Oyama went back in Japan, he said: "I am a simple man. I do not believe that I would survive in such environment." And then he left Korea. Choi said that their ways separated but they became brothers.
that would be amazing, Iam sure crowds of people would come to see the film, IF its well done. Butit would be horrible if this film is crap in the end because the bad producer or not enough money or stuff.

But too bad, on May 28, 1973, a bastard organization was illegitimately founded in his country and a bastard art was created subsequently. It was sad that they called the bastard art "Taekwondo". Nowadays, many people think that the bastard art should be called "Tae Tae Do". Some even suggest that the bastard art should be called "Hands Down Do". I personally call the bastard art "SUCKSKWONDO", and I truly think that the bastard art (Suckskwondo) is a disgrace to all martial arts in the world.
What a true martial arts legend! What a great Korean war hero! He created Taekwondo and founded International Taekwondo Federation to promote Taekwondo internationally. He loved his country. He loved his race. He loved his art - Taekwondo.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

ITF > WTF
WTF has no signwave, no correct tranistional movements, rigid footwork, incorrect stances, and wrong breathing techniques.
General Choi founded TaeKwon Do and ITF.
Evolutionrunbackward 2 years ago 37
soooooo true!
ocromiun 2 years ago 2
@Evolutionrunbackward
Get Real!!!!
Kinghercules 1 year ago
@Kinghercules You really are an idiot, my grandfather has a 1st dan in Shotokan, I do ITF TKD, there really is a big fucking difference, retard. Read Gen. Choi's Memoirs, there's more to it than him only creating it for the basic reasons you just gave, by the way, where do you get you fucked information from, a fucking website.
TheRejectshit 1 year ago
@Kinghercules DUDE STFU ALL MARTIAL ARTS IS RELATED SHAOLIN KUNG FU AND DID YOU KNOW YOUR STUPID SHOTOKAN KARATE IS ORIGINATED FROM INDIA? YEAH IT AINT EVEN JAPANESE THEY STOLE IT LIKE THEY STOLE ERRYTHING CAR DESIGNS IDEAS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ETC STFU
WorldOfIvillis 1 year ago
@WorldOfIvillis i must agree.. japanese is a freaken dumb ass fuckers... they try to dteal everything and if they succeed they say things like whatever they stole is jspanese and its from japan. did u know they even stola land from russia and when they lost the war they gave it back but they said it were theres and the russians took the land from them. and they stole bunch a things from korea too and say its theres starting from way back in time bec they were to poor.
1edefs3 1 year ago
@Kinghercules From what I understand Gen. Choi wanted to design a progressive martial art that used science in place of tradition and would constantly improve over time. The main influence was Karate (that was taught in the Japanese occupation of Korea) mixed with the kicking of Taekyyon as Korea wanted to stamp its own identity on the art. However, biggest influence is it's scientific approach with emphasis on evolution of techniques.

@Evolutionrunbackward I know this post was a year ago, but dude...all martial arts depend on the person, not the type.

@Evolutionrunbackward you have no respect for other (WTF) practiosiners..
ITF... or WTF... both came from korea and are very fun

I read in a martial arts' book called From Lee to Li that the general was released from prison just a few days before the Japanese were going to execute him.
SallyMyers1991 2 years ago 2
WTF is faster than ITF in kicks and moving.
But, ITF would easly win a sparring match, because of the hands we use in ITF.
But, if we only could kick, then WTF would easly win.
lolomfgroflmao 2 years ago
are u sure! wtf is not even good for srlf defense? they still can kick, they practice the same, just a different regulation. becasue itf wear shoe, u alway wear shoe on the street. and wtf is nothing, is just a big competition

WTF is now olimpic sport, using only legs, kind of making a show.
ITF is classic.. was meant to use many different hand techniques, sometimes even grappling. And it had some kind of spirit, making it a way of life, but I can barely describe it. :)

Taekwondo. Best wishes.

thj1234 2 years ago

A Film about him, and about taekwondo, Wow!!
that would be amazing, Iam sure crowds of people would come to see the film, IF its well done.

Empanada666 3 years ago
Picachu1 3 years ago 2
isaimoreno666 3 years ago

dopentatonico 2 years ago
ellilo06 2 years ago 5
