@13kawasaki13 I don't know if they still make them, can't find them at tower hobbies or any of the usual places anymore. These days I'd just use the castle one, castle has a manufactured heatsink and fan unit that fits it better than this.
160 deg is perfectly safe temp for these motors people. The high end quality magnets in these motors don't suffer demagnetization like the more inexpensive units.
OMG what a fucking rats nest ! DUDE- you do not need all that shit to protect from overheating. Carefully selected gear ratio & tire selection & you can run at no higher than 160 deg after real hard bashing . I run a 58 spur & 24 pinion with 40 mph runs (plenty fast) on a 4 s setup at around 25 min runtimes & the ESC never thermals.
I just converted my revo 3.3 to the 2200kv mamba moster system and I am debating on getting a 5s or 6s lipo. I have been told that 6s is barely controllable. What do you suggest? And should I use one large 5s/6s or two batteries to make a 5s/6s lipo? (one giant 5s or 6s battery alone will fit since it will be strapped down with the conversion. Thank you very much.
Well even 6s is controllable if you know how to drive it right. It's more a matter of how large an area you have, what kind of terrain, and so on. And with 6s you need to watch your gearing and motor temperature, 4s tends to be much more forgiving and runtimes will also be longer.
Awesome fan. That's the largest fan I've ever seen on any RC. Great job- Well done indeed. This is a bulletproof system you have. Check out the XTM Rail Buggy- I just learned about it and it's crazy on one 4cell lipo.
This is a 5V fan so it's powered by the ESC's BEC. Any open slot in the receiver basically, cut up a servo extension cable and use the red (+) and black (-) wires to power the fan.
VXL even. anyway done on this channel recomended channels BLOW u end up coming to a channel and seeing some kid strapping a bazilion fans and heatsinks top his revo lol so sad :)
0 heatsinks and 0 fans on my vwl run it at 68 mph no heat issues. maybe vxl better then the 400 dollar mamba lol dont see heatsinks and fans on my vxl so that says it all even my rustler desnt need heatsink and that runs 78+ mph..... anyways GO GO MAMBA LOL! HAHAHAHAHAH
@levianthan28 you are an idiot for this statement. Compare the eficiency of the VXL and the Neu/Castle motors. Then compare wattag. Continuous, and peak. You are on drugs if you think your VXL compares. The cooler you can keep your electronics, the more efficiently they will work. More fans equals more efficiency. A POS rustler weighs nothing, and it's 2 wheel drive. Your VXL is a 540s-540L size brushless motor.36mmx56mm long at most. Prob around 700 watts continuous. Not even close bud.
3 seconden geleden ps running my vxl at 70 mph this is 1/16 and let me tell u i have 0 fans 0 heatsinks and no heat issues maybe vxl doesnt run as hot as mamba huh.............. heheheheheh
everyone is lost everyone is asking if it actualy cools ur motor or if it waste bat lol that should wake u up kiddo but it doesnt why dont u get those bigg fans from a pc case and put like 4 of those on it im sure it will run another 20f less warm LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAHAHAHAH god dude thats funny ur car looks a mess HEHEH so lol to see people be stupid :) i love it
im sure that will make it run better......... not at all all the fans and shit doesnt work u dumbshit its funny to see people fuck around and do daft shit lol same for pc cases people put fans on everything lol the way u straped a bazilion fans to that lil mamba motor lol thats lol let me gues u 17 ? and u tought that would help ur car? hahahahah
Looks like a 12 volt fan, similar to computer PC fans, you will find it at fryse electronics or any computer hardware store. as for the heatsink, I dont know where you got it. Where did you buy your heatsink?. Thanks
It is a sunon 50mm fan from digikey. The heatsink is a number of TC4 half-motor heatsinks with some aluminum sheet metal grafted on to hold everything and the fan in place.
The problem I recall is that it was not entirely flat, I had to make a cutout seperator with layers of servo tape and paper in order to create a flat enough surface, you could also dremel away the protrusions if you know you aren't going to want to ever put the old ESC back on.
i think that t reason they got so high in the first place is becuase you run on grass most of thge time, i run a medusa 80 2200kv motor in my converted revo and it is geared for about 50 mph and the max temp i got was 120 on road and hard packed stuff
Yeah, people have gone 60+ on pavement or flat dirt without any real temperature concerns. I already had to gear it down once from an 18 pinion to 16.
Does anyone know where you can find that blue hestsink for the mamba monster at

No, but the rears are offset wheels so they rear is wider than the front by maybe an inch on each side.
