mvc3 wud b the easiest out of those 3 but id say try soul calibur V its not very complicated unless you want it to be. mvc3 is pretty goofy and easy though

@williesctt5 A casual player? Get Mortal Kombat. It's not really that good of a fighting game, but it'll probably hold your interest the longest in terms of single-player content. Seriously though, you need other people (offline) if you want to get the most out of any fighting game. For the best quality FG, KOF XIII is definitely the best FG out right now, but you'll need to put in some work. The feeling you get when you pull a 100% combo on your friend though, that makes it all worth it.

I believe IGN is only looking at the game the way the average gamer would and not the way a fighting game player would. They said it has solid mechanics and great graphics but no story. What person plays fighting games expecting great story? Not a single one.
After purchasing and playing this game I had to come back to this video and harshly disagree. More accurately this game is a love note for all those KOF fans who have waited years for fresh sprites and online gameplay. To those unfamiliar with KOF what you will find here is a great entry into the current fighting game market but to truly appreciate the game you have to have played most other KOF games. This is this games greatness and its obvious this reviewer is not a KOF player. 8.5!

I played this game and was blown away(i had never played a kof game before). I can honestly say this game has made me a fan. I wondered why i had never heard of this franchise before. without voice acting, the animations do look weird. But it's a fighting game, that's a minor tweak. 8 out 10 will be decent. pretty much a rushdown fighting game. lacks somehow deep thinking though.
Can anyone tell me if the characters have more than 1 special attack? I've bee a fan of the series since KOF '99 and in my opinion thats he best fighting game ever. I bought KOF Xii wasn't really impressed with 1 special attack per character.
King of Fighters XIII is sooooo good. Definently better than the 12th in the series. More importantly, it's even better than Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
This game actually requires SKILL and not relying on cheap tactics.
FYI, I am NOT bad at umvc3. I'm just tired of seeing people using the same characters over and over again. The game becomes more like "Sentinel Vs. Everyone" or something like that.

I haven't tried this game myself, but since I've been playing KOF since 1994, nothing has changed much really (still 3v3 in a 2D enviroment with not much else to do) I'd give this an 8, it would be a 10 if it had a larger rooster and more animated videos with voice acting, at least something to bring the characters more to life now that we have the technology to do so!!! FFS SNK do it now!!! for KOF XIV maybe?

Just bought this game a couple days ago and its great... beautiful, well animated 2D graphics, fast and deep gameplay, a kickass soundtrack and tons of features... way better than KOF XII and I'd even go so far as to say its the best KOF ever made. HUGE improvement over KOF XII and SNK should be commended. Definately pick this up if you're even remotely a fan of 2D fighting games.
im not really gonna bitch about the cheap bosses but i think 3:19 is a pretty accurate review, for me it would have been at least an 8, or an 8.5, but not any higher, (because the whole reason i get fighting games is to play them online) but all in all its a pretty solid game.

@Pap3rMoon From what I've played, UMvC3 plays smoothly online, it even plays smoothly when you're spectating matches. I'd go UMvC3, since, in my opinion, is way more fun than KOFXIII in it's own way. Not to say its a bad game. I just enjoy playing UMvC3 a lot more, even over SSF4AE.
I have this game for the 360, I must say it's incredibly good, the graphics, the fights, feels more intense and epic than other fighting games, for KoF fans, you must get this. Cheap bosses? No, they are incredibly easy even on the hardest difficulty, seems IGN people either suck or did not even gave a second chance to try and beat them. Online play I haven't played yet, so I can't comment on that. KoF XIII is a very good game and it deserves a 9 (max) or 8.5. The rest of the game is great.
people just need to realize that without the ridiculously cheap and frustrating bosses, it is not kof; just be glad it is isn't like xii where there was no boss whatsover; and the story is always confusing, just revisit the NEST storyline from '99, 2000, & 2001

I played this game and was blown away(i had never played a kof game before). I can honestly say this game has made me a fan. I wondered why i had never heard of this franchise before. But then i remembered that i live in America where everyone loves realistic graphics. This games deserves a much better rating than a 7. I would at least give it a 9/10. Very good game, fuck ign.

without voice acting, the animations do look weird. But it's a fighting game, that's a minor tweak. 8 out 10 will be decent. pretty much a rushdown fighting game. lacks somehow deep thinking though.

Can anyone tell me if the characters have more than 1 special attack? I've bee a fan of the series since KOF '99 and in my opinion thats he best fighting game ever. I bought KOF Xii wasn't really impressed with 1 special attack per character.

King of Fighters XIII is sooooo good. Definently better than the 12th in the series. More importantly, it's even better than Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
This game actually requires SKILL and not relying on cheap tactics.

I haven't tried this game myself, but since I've been playing KOF since 1994, nothing has changed much really (still 3v3 in a 2D enviroment with not much else to do) I'd give this an 8, it would be a 10 if it had a larger rooster and more animated videos with voice acting, at least something to bring the characters more to life now that we have the technology to do so!!! FFS SNK do it now!!! for KOF XIV maybe?

Ok so ... the cons are:
Confusing storyline: Yeah ... it's called 13 because is the 13th game... and they obviously never player KOF before.
Lagghy online play: Ok .. good point
Cheap bosses: WOW a cheap boss in an SNK game... never heard about SNK boss Syndrome? They are supposed to be like that..
And ..don't get me wrong I love Blazblue but it plays in a complete different way from KOF, and sometimes I want to fight without doing a 283 hits areal combo with weird drive modes

Just bought this game a couple days ago and its great... beautiful, well animated 2D graphics, fast and deep gameplay, a kickass soundtrack and tons of features... way better than KOF XII and I'd even go so far as to say its the best KOF ever made. HUGE improvement over KOF XII and SNK should be commended. Definately pick this up if you're even remotely a fan of 2D fighting games.

@Pap3rMoon From what I've played, UMvC3 plays smoothly online, it even plays smoothly when you're spectating matches. I'd go UMvC3, since, in my opinion, is way more fun than KOFXIII in it's own way. Not to say its a bad game. I just enjoy playing UMvC3 a lot more, even over SSF4AE.

I have this game for the 360, I must say it's incredibly good, the graphics, the fights, feels more intense and epic than other fighting games, for KoF fans, you must get this. Cheap bosses? No, they are incredibly easy even on the hardest difficulty, seems IGN people either suck or did not even gave a second chance to try and beat them. Online play I haven't played yet, so I can't comment on that. KoF XIII is a very good game and it deserves a 9 (max) or 8.5. The rest of the game is great.
