@gibb1991 Maine Eastern averages 150 people per run during their normal Summer season. About 350 passengers a day on average during the peak season, & during Fall foliage season it averages 450-500 passengers per day. Thanks for stopping by.
@GP9railfan That's awesome. I think it's great! I meant that some people say that all passenger rail operations are subsidized, and it's far from true. The Maine Eastern Railroad is an excellent passenger rail success story in modern America.
@rockinrollfan37 Yeah, no prob man. I'll load the F3A video on here tomorrow. I've been busy getting us ready for a major safety inspection at work the last few days, so not much time for YT as of late. Sorry for the delay man.
just noticed did the ("E") engines originally come equiped with three note horn's? I know any ("F") units i ever seen had single note horns,as did BL2's
@rockinrollfan37 No, the E's all had single note "Blat" horns on them, just like the early F3's did. This engine in this video still has her 1970's Amtrak issue K5LA 5 chime on it, along with her sister #488. Both horns are in dire need of a re-tune soon. As you can probably tell. They still sound really good from a distance though.
Hi, there's no station yet but the new station is going to be right next to the Hannaford on Union St. in the empty lot. The train stops in Brunswick junction which is another 300' south, beyond the Union St. crossing. My "New Maine Eastern new coach car" video shows the Junction where the Wye is, where they turn the train around & embark/disembark the passengers Hi, there's no station yet but the new station is going to be right next to the Hannaford on Union St. in the empty lot.

Do you know about the construction of the Main St. Station n Brunswick? It will be the station for two passenger rail services, The Downeaster [Amtrack] and Maine Eastern. It will be the first time someone will switch trains in Maine since 1960.
Yep. It'll probably be busy with the college there, & people going to & from school. Thanks for watching. I'll have another FL9 cab ride video up soon.
I went on Microsoft Live Search and found the crossing! Is their a station stop somewhere in town? The only buildings that come close are the ones at Main Street,Pleasant Street, and maybe Cumberland. But none have the "trackside look" of stations!?
She can still hit those kind of speeds, just not on the Rockland branch. The limit is somewhere around 40 MPH at most on this line. It wouldn't be much of an excursion/scenic train if it went any faster than it does now. LOL. Thanks for watching!
I'm SO glad to see him running!! I got to go into the #488's cab and engine compartment when it was being rebuilt at the Morritown & Erie Shops about 3 months ago, The still look great inside too
#488? Isn't she still down there? 489 is up here, & the only one I've seen of the 2 so far this year. GP9 #764 is filling in for now every so often on the busier days, & also doing the local freight runs. 489's sister (488) was having a rebuilt 567 stuffed in her (due to rough running) last I heard just like you mentioned though. Yes, you're right, they are really neat inside. I got to see inside 488 last summer when she was still up here. Thanks for watching!
I thought it was a great video. I didn't care for the music, when I watch a train video I just like to hear the train sounds, that's just me. Other then that I thought it was great.
Thanks. Oh-well, the music addition was just a fun idea, but the comments left so far don't seem to like it very much though...(?) I'll probably make another vid soon with just a bunch of ME footage bundled together W/O any music.
Thanks Len! It was my first time using Movie maker, & it was a test(sort of) to see how it worked. I wanted to put something else on there for the 1st song, but couldn't find the rest of my train music at the time. Oh-well... The next one will be better I think.
It sounded good to hear Box Car Willy, but you need to find a song that fits your video better. Steam whistle/ diesel doesn't mix to well. Video was nice and clear.
And people say private passenger operations can't work...

@gibb1991 When the Amtrak "Downeaster" trains arrive, & runs service to/from Brunswick, Maine Eastern will have even more ridership!

And to think... This locomotive used to haul commuters at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour... Good to see her still operating though. Nice video!
