@SiMoNsKy22 different gearing and flywheel weight... My YZF gets up and goes a bit faster than my dads WRF and his is 5 years newer... I think the YZF with the standard gearing is a lot closer to the power of a 2 smoke 125... yes they still are both 250s though

This track is too short to show the full potential of these karts, is a sprint track and those do not look like 250 to me more like 125, but then again karting engines changes like the wind, I might be wrong !?

In fact, Yamaha makes a verry limited production of this excelent motor, 100 units per year aprox for all countries , here in mexico we have an omologated category with at least 26 karts with this engine,in must of the cases we overhaul the engine every 3 years with out loosing power in this period, it has electric starter and digital ignition, any 2 stroke motor is far away on technolgy and reliability, this motor produces 43HP stock using street fuel.

in karting, rotax 125cc ( 2 stoke ) have to be rebuilt every 50 hours max. my 250cc biland (4stroke and same speed as rotax) every 300 hours.... 6 hours with a normal 2stroke icc and this will be 600 hours before rebuild?

In most of karting the 250cc 4-strokes are allowed to compete against the 125cc 2-strokes. They are fairly evenly matched.

personaly i like the sound of the 4 strokes way better than 2 strokes ,and 2 stokes need to be rebuilt after 50 hours of racing 4 strokes can go longer, unless of couse your building them like some of the builders for huge motocross teams.

Yeah but if a piston in a 4stroke blows to pieces it would most cerainly cost you 788450 billion dollars to repair the valves and alot of other stuff, in a 2 stroke you often get lucky enough to just need to replace the piston itself.

Actually I have delt with 2 & 4 stroke motors. With 2 strokes, after a certain amount of use ( miles) you have to break down and check the internals, something you don't have to do as offen with 4 strokes. Also on cold starts, 2 strokes are harder to start....

Yeah they are... atleast on the motocross bikes. The 250f's are putting out almost as much horsepower as the 250 2-strokes now a days. I think the crf250 is something like 6 horsepower off from the cr250

a top 125 two stroke tuned to the max wont give you much over 50. if you want a 4stroke on the cheap you won't get anywhere near that.

Yes, they do make a paddle-shift conversion kit for shifter karts. I can't really see too much advantate to it other than looking really trick, and it IS legal as far as I know in all shifter classes. Look at the video. You can see very little hand movement with the standard shifters.

I dont think you can get a four stroke kart, but you could probably get a gearbox chassis and then put a 250 four stroke engine on there, but a 250 two stroke is much faster.
