"I dont see whats wrong with it to tell you the truth, If its good for both the child and mother why not do it. I understand some people are raised to see breastfeeding as nasty but its not. I think as long as you can you should. Just my opinion.
I see this as perfectly natural. The "eww" factor some people have to this is illogical and simply a result of societal programming. Breast milk is healthy. As long as both mother and child still enjoy it, why the hell not?
I think some of these mothers have other issues and they don't do it for their kid's health.the benefits of breast milk are grand up to a certain age but if you ask a doctor they will tell you it's healthier for the child to wean both for physical and emotional reasons.a child shouldn't see it's mother as a milk dispenser and have a "passion" for her breasts and breastfeeding shouldn't be her only way of comforting or putting the kid to sleep.but it's not gross or something to be ashamed of.
@littleladytomboy I think you're absolutely correct. If you look at other mammals, they don't keep feeding their children once they have the ability to feed themselves.
only thing i find weird is still breast feeding an 8 year old... but its not my choice and i get it. at that point is about comfort and bonding more than a man food source
im sry but 2 and up is to old. i thought breast milk was only for an infant without teeth to get their nutrition, since they have no teeth them selfs. i have nothing against breast feeders but just cover up no one wants to see ur goodies besides perves and ur spouse.
I think this is an attachment issue.....on the part of the mother. She's neglecting her husband. Only been out twice in 2 and a half years! That can't be a happy home! I also plan to breast feed but for only the first year.
Ridiculous. In our origins in the forest, we had no negativity regarding breast-feeding. It was naturally expected. It was how offspring survived those first crucial months: we didn't get to have "sour feelings" because a woman exposed her breast. If we did, I believe it would have harmed us in the long run (less frequent nutrition etc.) And for women to have a "conservative" opinion of no public feeding is adding insult to injury. Especially in restaurants-the baby also wants dinner :)
Good for these women! My son is 15 months, and I get shit constantly for breastfeeding, and I cover up, no matter where I am. :// That just shows how ignorant our society is now. Sad for our children. I will never choose what is best for my child based on what society dictates. End of story.
It grosses me out when women breast feed in public. I mean, it's okay if they have a blanket over the baby and her breast.. but just whipping out your boobs is innapropriate.
how is it ok for people to drink milk from a cow their whole life, but when it comes to milk made for our own species there is an age limit? when my babies are older i will pump, but my milk will still be available to all of my children, i would love to donate etc. i believe that we were meant to breast feed up until milk teeth start falling out, so that's anywhere from 4 to 7. if you want to FF that is you're business, and i won't judge you for it, but i will try my best to BF as long as i can.
@brookemhowell LOL, and what do you base that "until milk teeth start falling out" off of? Mammals usually NATURALLY start weaning when the "milk" teeth start coming in and wean their offspring far before they start falling out.
@ImFlareonBitch that's the information that was given to me through an article about a child who was born with teeth, based on your information he wouldn't have been fed? (the mom bf'ed by the way)
@brookemhowell Which is obviously not a normal occurrence. Name one other species that weans after the milk teeth start falling out. Every mammal I've ever heard of, raised, or bred weans shortly after the teeth grow in.
@ImFlareonBitch i dont know of one, but why is it ok to drink milk out of a cows boob forever but you can get to be "too old" to drink milk made for people?
@brookemhowell I agree on the cow's milk thing. I'm just saying it isn't natural to drink human milk forever either.
Most of the world doesn't drink milk like we do in the US. Here, it's pretty much part of our daily diets. The majority of adults across the world are lactose intolerant - we just keep drinking it here for some odd reason.
i dont think its right for a child just to walk up to his/her mother and pull their shirt up or unzip them, there has to be boundries. these kids are being spoiled. these mothers should say "no. your a big boy now, you have to drink from a cup like big boys" this is just not healthy for a child, mentally.
Personally, I breastfed, but don't believe in it after they're 1 year old, and what the Hell is wrong with a woman using a nursing cover!!! I NEVER just flung my breast out to the world, COVER IT UP, its not a big deal to cover it up. Breastfeeding past a child being 12 months old is just pedophilia behavior. By that point a baby is fully capable of eating & drinking on their own and do NOT need breast. Just GROSS!
@birchfieldd1 unfortunately, a lot of third world countries don't have the means to even by food or milk so they use their breast to supply milk to their infant, toddler or kid....i personally don't see anything wrong with breastfeeding your child in public without covering yourself up...it's natural and it doesn't need to be double looked at....
I feel bad for the older children of the mom with twins. They feel neglected because mom spends so much time (especially at night) breastfeeding and has no time for them.
Breastfeeding round the clock? No way in hell! What's gonna happen if you have to get dental work or go to a funeral or bathe the dog? The idea of dropping everything to quench the thirst of a child old enough to hold a cup is absurd.
@AntiSocialChannel85 That's actually OPPOSITE of the feminist movement, as they are pro abortion/choice and those who advocate being the first (or most) in post graduate school and making it to CEO of Big Corp. If you had said, "This is pro-Mother Nature", you would have been much closer to being correct.
Ok 2 things wrong with one of the mothers. There's a point when you have to cut back a ton and that's when the. Children start relying on the milk to go to sleep, and when it's taking up all the time you have with your other children. There not to happy bout it to.
i love the idea of breast feeding, i BF my twins, but when you do it so often that you are taking SO much time away from your other kids and hubby its no longer ok. not saying she should stop but she should cut back.... just a little.
I think breast feeding is natural and that every should at least try to do it... But although it is a natural and beautiful thing would u really feel comfortable with some pervert watching? I meen of course 2 u and love ones its fine but I know not everyone think that way and i don't want some weirdo watching my boob while i feed my child... and me personally I think breastfeeding 1-2yr old is ok but 8!! that's just not natural...
I'll agree that children who have passed a certain age, must live on solid food.
How ever, the milk thing can be seen from another viewpoint. What do I mean?
Like many other people I drink coffie with milk almost every day, as I am aware the milk I drink comes from a cow, but what if the milk came from my mom, I don't think my mom has any milk any more? In theory, there should be nothing wrong.
I think that breastfeeding is good but the children have to transfer to normal solid food at some point. Everything has its appropriate time range and so does this. I think after a child passes two years of age it is definitely the time to let go. From this documentary I got the impression that breastfeeding was a tool for mothers with which they wanted to prolong that close relationship that mothers have with young babies. But the babies need to grow up, mamas, so you have to learn to let go!
Whoa... Tristan actually unzipped his mom's jacket to get milk. I think he's a little too old now? Apparently he has a strong relationship with the boob.
And why would Tristan's mom *hope* to breastfeed her new child o.o
That's kinda weird..
Breast milk is there for the nutrition of infants, not for comfort or pleasure in children.
Just my opinion, I've read a number of complaints about this subject and I completely disagree with most of them. If a woman chooses to breastfeed then there should be nothing to prevent her from feeding her child when needed wherever she is. If a woman chooses formula to feed her baby then that shouldn't be an issue either. It's her choice and should not be dictated to either way. Breast feeding is natural, would you perceive a dam feeding her pups as awkward or sexual as some have suggested?
@MaffiasAngelO88 While I concur with your statement, I would have left out the opening, "Just my opinion..." as it demonstrates an element of uncertainty with regards to what it is you stand for. I'd also like to point out that, had it not been for the centuries upon centuries of extended breastfeeding, none of these naysayers would be here to comment, for it is the extended breastfeeding of their ancestors that DIRECTLY sustained their respective lineages.
@usdeptofsmooth All I mean by "just my opinion" is that I have no desire to start an argument, but it is my belief that this is the correct way to view the subject.
And yeah, it is due to extend breastfeeding most of us are here, it's been proven to enhance the general health and intelligence of children, which would have given our ancestors an added bonus on the "survival of the fittest" way of life =)
Whatever!!, you will probably never understand you need to be a breastfeeding mom, read about it and being very well informed. Probably you have never read as much as I had to be a succesful breastfeeding mom. For those moms that like to conver bebe au lite is perfect it allows you to see your baby while breastfeeding
@sinjico Some advice: Don't take these ill-informed commenters personally. There's a reason that many refuse to research the findings so that the facts may be revealed to them. These are the same people who are easily swayed by the journalism that is targeted to control mass opinion. Leave these people alone and go about what you know to be fact.
I think breastfeeding in public is inappropriate due to the simple fact that the act is in a public setting...I would suggest scheduling the nurturing in a private confidential setting, such as a home. ;-)
How can they say no to breastfeeding in public. Is the most natural thing int he world. What are you supposed to do if your baby is hungry and you are in the supermarket far away from home? formula is no the best thing for them. You are supposed to give what is not best for your baby just because some people is annoying? Stupid
@sinjico Theres should be no issue with breast feeding in public, but there should be an issue with breast feeding in public without a proper covering. Men are breast oriented, thats just how they are, some women too, and though breast feeding is a beautiful thing, its also a private and personal thing, and no one else should have to look at your boobs in public. A woman that wouldn't flask her breasts in public for kicks, shouldn't be doing it while nurturing their child.
@FiestyCat86 I disagree with you. Cover or not cover should be a personal choice. Personally I like to cover my baby while nursing but that's MY personal choice, no because I have to but because I want to. If men are pigs, we should educate them to see breastfeeding as natural as possible.
I'm sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention, but what ever happened decency and modesty? Men are geared to look, and being bi sexual so am I, its just the way we are. Its not being a pig, its just something that we do instinctively. Breast feeding is wonderful, its a beautiful thing, but I don't want to see someone else's private parts, be it with a child or without, unless they are family or a lover. But that just my opinion, again I mean no offence, sorry I came across that way.
@sinjico I respectfully strongly disagree with you: I think breastfeeding in public is inappropriate due to the simple fact that the act is in a public setting...I would suggest scheduling the nurturing in a private confidential setting, such as a home. ;-)
personally, i believe the child and mother should both agree on when to stop nursing. but i do think that a child of two or older should only be nursed for bedtime, just for a bit of cuddling and closeness and not in the middle of the day, out in public....public nursing is okay until about 2 but after that it should be private.
There is no problem feeding to around 2, but people who feed older children should be discreet. Unfortunately, we are in a very sexual age, and people will look on it in a sexual way if it's done in public. I breast fed my own children, but I still find it offputting when mothers flop their boobs out to feed older children. With smaller children, you can keep modest. Sophie and her husband obviously don't mind her getting her boobs out for other men to look at.
Two years being the minimum ? Lol so I guesssss it's natural for a 4 year old to still be sucking a bottle . Both breast and bottles has nipples and kids get attached to both . It's just like saying , okay u are potty trained but u can wear diapers ... We as parents should show our children they are okay without the things that make them " feel" secure instead of the easy way out of a tantrum just to make your child shut up .
I think when kids have teeth, you should stop... Ewww you guys shouldnt breastfeed in public! Go in a bathroom! Thank God I don't live in Britain! I would have a fit!
@loraandlaytonsfan but no offense to anyone who does this... I just don't like it because I think it is wrong... Question, why don't you guys just pump the milk into a bottle, it seems better for their age, rather than whipping out the breast...
@loraandlaytonsfan There are lots of problems w/ pumping and bottle feeding. First being that pumping can be difficult and can cause your supply to dry up. Second being that straight from the breast, the milk is sterile. Once it hits the bottle, it's no longer sterile. You then have the issue of your child being sick from contaminated bottles or spoiled milk. Breastfeeding is more than just nourishment. It's comfort, & antibodies. It's beautiful and natural & the way all children should be fed.
@loraandlaytonsfan Feeding your child in a bathroom is exactly the same as if you would eat in a bathroom. It's disgusting and unsanitary. If you don't want to see someone breastfeeding in public, DON'T LOOK. Simple as that.
Ahh Sr. .. In regards of Sophie I do believe that the expression "Have fun like a young couple" doesn't apply here at all; I mean YOU are a mature man I guess about 55 closer to 60, so you are NOT young anymore. You are..., I hope a happy couple but , please act your age and think as a mature man, because a 55 year old acting as a teen or a cool young guy is not just embarrassing but stupid.
"I dont see whats wrong with it to tell you the truth, If its good for both the child and mother why not do it. I understand some people are raised to see breastfeeding as nasty but its not. I think as long as you can you should. Just my opinion.

personally, i believe the child and mother should both agree on when to stop nursing. but i do think that a child of two or older should only be nursed for bedtime, just for a bit of cuddling and closeness and not in the middle of the day, out in public....public nursing is okay until about 2 but after that it should be private.

Sophie and her husband obviously don't mind her getting her boobs out for other men to look at.

breastfeeding is a wonderful natural thing its a good way to bond mother and child

Question, why don't you guys just pump the milk into a bottle, it seems better for their age, rather than whipping out the breast...
loraandlaytonsfan 1 year ago
@loraandlaytonsfan There are lots of problems w/ pumping and bottle feeding. First being that pumping can be difficult and can cause your supply to dry up. Second being that straight from the breast, the milk is sterile. Once it hits the bottle, it's no longer sterile. You then have the issue of your child being sick from contaminated bottles or spoiled milk. Breastfeeding is more than just nourishment. It's comfort, & antibodies. It's beautiful and natural & the way all children should be fed.

you are so right...the only way I kept up my milk supply is with a hospital grade pump $450.00 ON SALE! just simply nursing direct was way easier.
