I agree that the US version isn't as gritty as the UK original, but this ISN'T the original... MOST of Showtime's re-creations stray from the original concept and change more and more through the seasons. The Pilot was decent but then it became slightly dull for a few episodes. I stuck with it and now its "shameless" indeed! Plus, the younger actors, who seemed robotic or maybe nervous at first, are actually starting to grasp their characters. The finale will be pretty INTENSE..

US version is so clean, watch the UK version it's classic. Its like the US are to frightend to take it to the bone, when i saw they where making a US version i know it would be like this. in the UK there are people living like this and we are not scarred to show it on TV.

I just watched the first episode (U.S version) and it was really good, but there is no f*cking comparison with the UK version, that's what we call SHAMELESS!!!!!!!!!!! In my opinion, people should watch first the british version. I'm not even English, btw. But it's soooooooooooo good to hear the british accent... people getting angry, insulting each other and... f*cking 24/7? haha. I love this show. And this guy is amazing!

As much as it pains me to say, cos i dont like remakes, the US version is really good (i've seen the first 3 episodes). Its different than the uk version, i think its less gritty and might find it harder to relate to it, but thats because its ment to relate to americans. Some of the characters are different, Veronicas boyfriend is nothing like the british one, hes kinda goofy and stupid in this, and frank is not the lovable, comical, mess he was but comes across as unlikable in the US version
