  • The first time I ever played this song in front of people, they said "Why the fuck are we listening to Elvis??"

  • One of my favorite *_*

  • Comment removed

  • I like the description : "nice song, no vid." Instead of "FUCKING BEAUTIFUL SONG, no video, but what the hell for ?!"

  • I want this video on my SP65 unit.

  • Your vid went viral on Bangkok

  • hearing this while eating noodles is so epic

  • "I would still lay down my life for you"

In spite of all of this, I'll still die for you all, b/c thats my job as a soldier.

  • Sad war poem/song. D:

  • such a beautiful song..... <3 Muse

  • this is like listening to Queen in the 21st century, totally awesome

  • THE song for remembrance day/Veterans Day.

  • Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

  • @Damonsalvatoregdr fuck off if you hate muse bitch

  • This song reminds me of the song from the Social Network trailer.

  • @0neofthem That' radiohead's creep. Not all piano songs are the same song.

  • @0neofthem Because the song from the Social Network trailer is an altered version of Radiohead's "Creep"...in other words, both are great songs!!!

  • Goosebumps! Haha

  • I cannot stop listening to this song! It's so beautiful :'D

  • *-*

  • such beautiful music

  • Once you heard this song listen to this:

    Everybody Hurts - R.E.M

Can't help falling in love - Elvis Presley

P.S: i'm not a hater, i do love muse, i just think that these 3 songs are the same :D

  • @Bluedragon1211 same key and close to tempo, but its still apples to oranges. When picking chords like this, you need to follow the chord progression. REM for instance cycles between two chords during the verse, with a slight change in the prechorus alternating between two chords, one still similar to the the first. Where as here, the verse consist of at least 6 chords played in a melodic fashion. Id say its much more closely related to elvis presely's song than REM. Good ear though

  • @Bluedragon1211 If you're talking about the sound I can tell what you're saying a bit, but lyrics are way off.

  • @Bluedragon1211 hahahahahha i actually laughed out loud when i got to elvis. hahahahaha

  • @zetakai13 that song is a really good oldie by elvis you know

  • Does anyone else notice that the beginning of this song and Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love" sound the same?

  • what a sad song

  • Is it me, or does this sound a lot like Ave Maria?

  • @imwhitennerdy I KNOW RIGHT?

  • @imwhitennerdy IT TOTALLY DOES

  • @imwhitennerdy Damn I was just thinking of some similarities between them lol xD

  • @imwhitennerdy please dont tell that about Matt's song >:(

dont confuse my friend, Muse is mora than religion, is the Supreme Sustance

  • @imwhitennerdy for me it sounded like elvys presley I can't help falling in love with you haha

  • @imwhitennerdy no... IT DOESNT!!!!!! -_-

  • @imwhitennerdy Is it me, or does Hip to be Square sound like Power of Love. Party of Love (Steel Panther) sound like Livin' on a Prayer (Bon Jovi). Doesn't Zoey Deschannel look an awful lot like Katie Perry.

    It Happens.

  • @imwhitennerdy It actually does a bit... I'll try to compare closer to see to which extent

  • @imwhitennerdy No : only the start.

  • JESUS, call all papers that HD stuff WORKS!!!

  • this is a BEAUTIFUL song. I just started to actually listen to it a few days ago. I love the lyrics and the melody & stuff.. If this wasn't a song. it could easily be a poem :D ♥

  • I misread this as "Soldier's Porn" :]

  • even though i wish that this song were much longer, i can't help but feel it's perfect just the way it is

  • @tracysorto I share your same idea, I think it should have been long time this song is great, do not speak English, but only gives a feeling of listening to a lot of feeling, I saw the letter translated into Spanish ...

  • Good to know that a musician who has probably never been to war or even thought about it can write a song about the thoughts and feelings of a soldier. Not all of us think our mission is wrong and in fact I have seen and done more good over in Iraq than I have ever seen anywhere else. It's true though, you people don't deserve your freedom, you have squandered it away and cried injustice over the most trivial things. People are starving and dying the world over while you sit comfortably.

  • @OIFVET13F :great to know what are armed forces think of their citizens.....

  • @hellokittyy96 Well first things first, my comments are a matter of personal opinion and doesn't necessarily mean they are shared by all members of the Armed Forces. Second, my position sits that when I came home from two tours in Iraq, very proud of the Iraqi people for making such progress, and ultimately patriotic and believing in the mission, I come home to my own people, who are unappreciative of anything we have done and can only complain about and focus on the most trivial things.

  • @hellokittyy96 so do I hold some resentment to alot of civilians, yes I do. However, that doesn't extend to all civilians as I know there are plenty out there who are making the best of what they have and are very appreciative of the freedoms they are given. They are people who are willing to stand up and produce, to make something of themselves, instead of being parasitic sponges, constantly grabbing for the next government handout while spouting off some rhetoric about a war they never fought.

  • @OIFVET13F Oh, I can understand that, and can respect that you have gained a stronger perspective being as you saw things from both sides. And yes, i agree that many Americans do not give the due respect to its armed forces and focus on the unimportant things. But to your resentment, i say to try and understand that we have only expirienced complete freedoms and know no different, thus we spend our lives focusing on insignificant aspects that many of us do not understand to be trivial.

  • @ShadowGhostNinja enjoy your journey into muse, my friend. if you like this one, check out: hoodoo, Sunburn, Ruled By Secrecy, Sing for Absolution, Butterflies and Hurricanes..then rock out to Knights of Cydonia, Map of the Problematique, Plug In Baby...well the list goes on and on and on.. you'll also notice that their live recordings are better/fuller/more flavorful than their studio recordings. enjoy. i'm jealous that you get to experience it all for hte first time. :)

  • this is luvly!

  • And think, this heart, all evil shed away, A pulse in the eternal mind, no less Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;

Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day; And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness, In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

  • This song is based on the Soldier by Rupert Brooke

If I should die, think only this of me:

That there's some corner of a foreign field

That is for ever England. There shall be

    In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;

A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware, Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,

A body of England's, breathing English air, Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.

  • @Jdog0496 really? that's interesting!

    thanks for sharing!

  • Bellamy is God.

  • The best 2 minutes and 4 seconds of my life...

  • @OmNomNomNom96 i say

best 4 minutes and 8 seconds of mi life

  • 8 People dont deserve their freedom

  • "Let's loose ourselves, cos there's no one left for us to blame. It's a shame we're all dying."

    So ironic ;)

    Wonderful song.

  • too short....it's beautiful.

  • Commence.. "Raping the play button" in 3.....2.....

  • i was in a dance to this it was incredible

  • Love the backing vocals/

  • Brilliant.

  • Such an awesome song, totally calms you down

  • This song was playing in my room when I heard that my grandfather past away;P my father ran into my room crying then left to the hospital, there I was alone with only soldiers poem...

  • Ceux qui aime pas pourquoi il vienne voir bande d'handicappé ! --'

  • Amazing.

  • i sleep very well at night knowing that at least if there was no Muse, Matt would make a very very good poet <3

  • @TVGirl96 Matt said in an interview that if he hadn't become a musician, he would've been a pornstar

  • @InsanityIsNecessary ........exactly

  • In the end, a human's ultimate goal is to lose it all, so others can do the same. Yet there is a solemn beauty to the cycle, just like this song. :)

  • Damn you Muse you just made me piss my pants and cry

  • I want Stockholm Syndrome played at my funeral. Then everyone would rock out on my grave.

  • @nachoblaha2008 Me Invincible :D

  • Chanson jouée aux funérailles de ma mère... <3

  • beautiful. that is all. nothing else to describe this. just beautiful.

  • 1:37 Queen! ...

  • love it! very radiohead-ish

  • @karencuss people always say that whenever muse writes a soft rock song of any kind. radiohead doesn't own soft rock you know :P.

  • @ThePhantomCorrector you know why? cause radiohead came out first, you know....that's why. :)

  • @karencuss Yes... They did. But they didn't invent soft rock, as far as I know. I'm merely saying that it is not muse songs sounding like radiohead, it is radiohead and muse songs sounding like soft rock songs, and that we should not be comparing them to other bands, we should be appreciating them as muse. Not as 'radiohead-ish', but as muse. And, as a person who likes muse, but not radiohead, I begin to get slighly peeved when I hear people going on about how they sound like radiohead. Y'know?

  • @ThePhantomCorrector hahaha whoa I do love radiohead <3 & I understand. sorry to "provoke" you, seriously. but it was inevitable to me. though you got a right point of view.

    It's so beautiful!

  • But take it back to the roots : this song is beautiful !

  • Wow, you're all arguing over OPINION. If the man doesn't like it.....then it is his lost.....

  • How can you not like this song?

  • meh

  • I am a muse fan but dear muse if you are reading this then i say this song sucks sorry, but all another your songs rocks specialy starlight.

  • @audzis75 You aren't a real muse fan if you don't enjoy their softer side as well

  • @audzis75 this song does not suck, get some culture man.

  • @audzis75 This is one of their best songs.

  • @audzis75

If you think this song sucks then there is no point in arguing with you about anything. Because you're retarded.

  • @keeto14 LOL. agreed...poor aduiz getting flamed

  • @audzis75 you call your self a fans but u doesnt like their song....???? well u must be a posers or something

  • @audzis75 Well some people should ear ALL MUSE albums before posting comments like "i'm a muse fan"

if you dislike this song, what about "unintended" ???

Oh sorry, this song is on a too old album for a MUSE fan like u

"Sodier's Poem" rocks as KofC, Plug in Baby, Cave, Hypermusic (amazing bass line), and so and so, but in a different way and i would set "Starlight" not far from the end of my list ...

So dear "fan" of MUSE, just be open minded or you may not understand a word of those songs

  • @InspecteurDerrick59 So what, if you are a "pure" muse fan, or what-so-ever. If people like "starlight", then just be happy, it might just have saved them from Justin Bieber!

Personally I like "Plug in Baby" just as well as "Resistance". So my point is, if a person like "starlight", then let them listen to that song, it's just another muse supporter!

  • @ChocolateFromHell In fact, it's the word "sucks" that i can't stand ... i think that people should have more respect for any song, of any band ... If it "sucks" so just create your own universal album (containing songs like this one or "Starlight")

And i never said that i dislike "Starlight", I just said that there are MANY songs before this one to enjoy ...

But i agree, this is MY opinion.

And I'm totally happy that MUSE saved another goat from Just Teen (forever) Bber ;)

  • Replay, replay, replay...

    Perfect song for sad moments

  • this song makes me think what if i died on my deployment over seas makes me sad

  • I'm addicted to MUSE there are like a drug that I can't get off of! gosh there so darn amazing!!!! And i totaly worship this song ♥

  • @universalservicesllc so ture, so true

  • @universalservicesllc, I'm just now hearing Muse's music, on a recommendation; hmmmmm. I'm wondering what you might think of Bucketheads vast array of dreamy-ambient compositions(not the more 'hard' compositions). Also the band Tennis, Two Wounded Birds, The Drums....

  • @universalservicesllc

I have a feeling ur a christian. Am I right?

  • who else listens to this because of the gears of war commercial?

  • @cshk16 Which one?

  • The angels are backing vocals for Matt.

  • i love this song

  • idont understand why people dont like this song, is so beautiful, live sounds amazing.<33333

  • this song is soo beautiful!!

  • Does anyone know if this was actually written by a soldier?

If so, please provide reference, I'm curious about the song not political opinion

  • @jackpurvis No, I don't think it was written by a soldier, probably by Matt Bellamy.

  • Dios mio! Que letra tan triste y tan cierta! definitivamente no hay justicia en el mundo! :(

  • *ahem* excuse me, nice song? im sorry.... i thought this was great

  • sweet tune

  • HD FTW!

  • more like elvis's cant help falling in love

  • Wunderschöner Song...

  • how can anybody dislike this beutiful song?

  • woah is anyone else getting like a beetles vibe from this song

  • @disasterwave Yep, but not so much at the beginning. The end backing vocals do have that flavour

  • MUSE LO MEJOR DEL 2010

  • I admit I'm selfish and mean sometimes, isn't everyone?

  • This is one of the reasons Muse isn't selfish about their feelings, Matt doesn't write about his life and feelings, but to the soldiers everywhere.

  • @muse7690 wrong, matt actually wrote neutron star collision inspired in the feelings he was having when he first knew his long time girlfriend, actually sad :'(

  • @muse7690

  • Deep Song

  • This reminds me of Christmas somehow :)

  • @HeyHelloJulie omg. so true. i can't unsee it anymore...

  • I want this song played at my funeral.

  • @slipknotmaggot4eva1 I was just thinking the same thing.

  • @slipknotmaggot4eva1 the part about there being no justice in the world is going to make everyone cry.

  • @slipknotmaggot4eva1 thats bad because you will not be able to listen it xD

  • @slipknotmaggot4eva1 I want to die to this song!

  • I was listening to this song while i was sitting on a ledge from which I could see the entire city.

    it was magical

  • this song made me cry. THe lyrics are so deep and true. Plus, the voice blending is so f**k!ng awesome!

  • @Jtapangxx90 eat shit you fucking cunt

  • This is why they are so magnificent. They can record this and Hyper Music and Exogenesis Symphony and even Undisclosed Desires and they will still be as fantastic as ever. They just can't fail.

  • Some asswipe artist name asobi seksu stole the piano part from Muse. They put in a song called Thursday off the album Rewolf. what a fuck

  • This song should be longer.

  • It's not just that they do a variety of genres - a lot of bands do many genres. It's that they do an expanse of genres so successfully.

I think Muse and The White Stripes are the best bands of our generation. And I think Muse is better.

  • Oh myyy... This song is soooo beautiful *_*

Matt Bellamy's voice in the heights makes me think a bit of Mika - to me they're two of the best singers around :D

  • reminds me of Because by Beatles....but still a gd song

  • I llove it!

  • The vocals remind me a bit of queen at a few points.

  • @mutantbread

A lot of songs from Muse have similar vocals to Queen, especially United States of Eurasia sounds exactly like Queen! I love it!
