my '99 SL2 is limited to 117 mph. its amazing how fast it can get there. i live in the rural midwest where the little green spinach (as my gf puts it) can stretch its legs almost daily.
Strangely my stock 01 SL2 was quicker than that. The auto trans in mine shifted way way faster.. And they're governed to 114, the SC2 is 124 due to the tires the two cars came with at time of purchase.
i have an sl2 with the rev limiter and speed limiter removed also has a cold air intake it tops at 127 but the tranny cracked so i bought a sc2 gearbox fits perfect and can get to 130+ wish i could give an exact number but i ran out of speedometer

my 4dr 5spd saturn before I did cold air intake pulled 118 before I had to slow down so I didn't run into this Jeep that cut me off, but my car was still going strong, and after I put 2" spacers on the rear tires, got a Spectre cold air intake in my car, i was able to go 125 no problem...
@mrperson123 should learn to take care of your car...my Saturn has great pickup speed, and has 138k miles on the motor, recently replaced the clutch and slave about to do the master, but the car is perfectly fine and very reliable

I have one, too, and no you can't. They weigh about 2300 lbs, and they'll hit 60 in a little under 8 seconds. Even the first wrx's, the slowest ones, did it in the mid-5's. and the quarter mile difference would be way more dramatic than that. Don't get me wrong, I love my saturn, it's the quickest 38 mpg I've ever driven. But they aren't meant to be performance cars. They're quick enough to be fun while you get from point A to point B, and that's all they need to be.
Saturn's are the worst cars to buy, they are not fast, they re not reliable , and they have a gay design. I will post a vid of my Sti shitting on an sl2. Better yet, i will just walk faster than your POS.

Did they reprogram the governers to 110? My '94 SL2 can do 125 with an automatic and the performance package, it could probably do what the speedometer says if I took it off.
It was offered on all twin cam models, but for only the automatics (the manuals didn't need it). If you're ever in one that has a little switch next to the shifter, that's the performance button. It makes it shift harder, faster and holds it all the way to redline. It also allows it to downshift faster.
It makes a big difference, believe me. It makes it hard to drive in rush hour traffic, though. It feels like it unleashes an extra thirty horsepower whenever it downshifts.
It won't blow it up if you don't floor it all the time. The most it could hurt in everyday driving is your neck, it kind of jackrabbits into the next gear if you rev it up too high without the gas floored.
I want to see how fast my stock 99 SL2 Saturn can go so bad, it maxed out at 105 while carrying 450 pounds of camping supplies, and 3 people. I want to do it sometime with just me, or me and my friend (who ways 101 pounds) Nice car!

i have done 116 befor the fuel cut-off kicked in .. and with out fuel cutoff a 19 Lbs turbo exaust and intacke itll play with 130-135 all day my dad built these cars for 25 years at he saturn performance plant in southern MI, the are all governed between 115 and 120 depending on the fuel

wow thats pretty sad my eclipse V6 will do 122 MPH in 4th gear at the redline be4 i have to shift nd the fastest ive ever gotten my eclipse was 130+ MPH but wont go any faster caz my tires are rated 4 135MPH......lmao

what do you expect your comparing a 1.9 four cylinder saturn to a v6 eclipse. and let me guess you have a turbo in it too when this just has an exhaust and intake.

i have done 116 befor the fuel cut-off kicked in .. and with out fuel cutoff a 19 Lbs turbo exaust and intacke itll play with 130-135 all day my dad built these cars for 25 years at he saturn performance plant in southern MI, the are all governed between 115 and 120 depending on the fuel
