Ik vind deze snelle versie wel goed, alleen soms walst hij een klein beetje over de noten heen zoals bij 1:01, maar dat doet verder niet heel veel af aan dit geweldige nummer.
At first, I thought "I like it fast," but then I realized that the German "Geduld" means patience, and so perhaps there might be something to say for a slower pace.
I never heard a tenor who could do this passage life without shouting or vibrato. It's very very hard to do, almost impossible to sing, I think this tenor is doing a pretty good job...
Aria - Tenor
Geduld!
Wenn mich falsche Zungen stechen.
Leid ich wider meine Schuld
Schimpf und Spott,
Ei, so mag der liebe Gott
Meines Herzens Unschuld rächen.

Beautiful.....although a little too fast for the way I personally feel it, but still sublime!!!

@xp145 Yeah, but it' better like this. The cello is rushing and the vocal is calming it down. And succeeds at 0:49.

The betrayal of Petrus!!

Oh my gosh the cellist is crazy!!!
I wish he'd accent some of the melismatic passages less. He sounds a little like he's shouting.

In her defense, I am sure she has discussed it with Koopman and they so decided on the interpretation. I like it.

I'm talking about Geduld!, by the way.

There's too much flutter in his vibrato...that's when he's using it, anyway.
There is also absolutely no line in his voice. It's just jerky, bad singing...at least to me.
This aria is amazing, though.

Ein grölender, hauchender und kaspernder Tenor.

El final, desde el minuto 7:41 es bellísimo. Que melisma tan impresionante. "Und ging heraus und
weinete bitterlich." " Y, saliendo afuera, lloró amargamente."
Realmente es un llanto.
