  • According to the WABC survey from September 30th, 1969, this song went to #17 on the survey, and it was in the NYC Top 20 and it was considered a minor hit after Frankie Valli left to go on his own.

  • That was a great song!

  • Frankie excels, as usual, on this old Della Reese tune.

  • @kirko1954 touched by an angel the 45 was on the crewe label

  • This was one of their best releases, but IMHO, it might have been a bigger hit, if it had been done and released about 3 to 5 years before 1969. Beautiful song, though!

  • A fantastic version of a '50's song as performed by Frankie Valli and company during the summer of 1969! Definitely should have been a far bigger hit than its Billboard peak position indicates. If memory serves me right, I believe it topped out #33 (and an additional top 40 hit for these "Jersey Boys") on the Cashbox singles chart.

  • This song is great!

  • This was a fairly competent cover of a song originally done by Della Reese. Too bad this video was yanked before others could really discover it.

  • The song was huge in NY when it came out, one of their best - but they have so many great ones that no one's ever heard.

  • @ChevyGreaserGirl WABC played that song back in 1969, and it was a big hit in New York, but it wasn't a hit elsewhere.

  • @ChevyGreaserGirl bob crewe the 5th season made a fortune handclapping on records

  • Worth the extra click, folks, go check it out!

  • A beautiful song!...I'll be looking to buy this one if i can find it on a CD.

  • @dburr13 It is on the "Half and Half" cd. Out of print but still out there.

  • Truely a lost "Gem" ! One of Frankie's best vocals. It would have gone higher if released a year earlier since it sounds similar to the Vogues(My Special Angel).

It was released in the fall of '69 when the group did not have a major label deal and was released on producer Bob Crewe's label. A Top 10 Gem "LOST" by Oldie radio.Far better version than the Della Reese version. Thanks for the post and the music memories, Great as always Mike.

  • Great song. Very underrated.
