everyone who says using two weights wont do any good are idiots. you use the obliques every time you bend to the side, correct ? If so, having one 35 pound dumbell in each hand is the same as adding 35 pounds of extra fat on both sides of your body. 35 pounds that wasnt there before. Meaning your muscles have to work to pull your bodyweight + 35 pounds extra. Fools.
@KennAndJoshieGoRawr It doesn't matter if you add another 35+ pounds, since ( as robjbray stated) Its evenly balanced). Sure It will make it harder to make the movement ( or atleast feel like it ) But you're not really adding any weigth to the motion. Since gravity works on both sides and both dumbbells wants to go down. Having 35+ pounds of fat evenly stored around the body ( Butt, belly etc ) will make the exercise harder yes, but not that much.
lol, You do these to build muslcle in your obliques, Sure if you are a fat cunt you won't notice the difference, Go diet and cardio, But i know for sure when i'm doing these at the gym today i'll notice the difference soons.
@blitzik another person who dosnt know what they are talking about...adding muscle size makes the fat in that area spread out more as there is more area for it to cover. eventually that fat layer will become thinner, making the area more toned. The same reason you look thinner as you gain height, more area.
@keltronzero it builds strength in the sides for movements like, "human flag." It is not designed to remove fat from the sides, more aerobic activity would do that.
Typical nigger.... He has the basic form of exercize right but having a dumbell in each hand makes it so you don't benefit... I don't blame him he's black so isn't expected to know.
@keltronzero This excercise might even enlarge your "love handles". However, who said it would get rid of it. This excercise is a great one anyhow. If its done CORRECTLY which the dude in the video i NO. You should only use ONE dumbell. In either case this excercise is better done in cable.
yes you HAVE to you one weight at a time.... it doesnt work with two weights... the weights balance eachother out, and ur not forcing the lift with your own weight..
you can use 2 weights for this exercise, they are called seesaw side bends,.but this guy is doing them wrong,he should be doing them one side at a time

There's no such thing as "toning". There's muscle and there's fat. If you have more muscle and less fat, you'll look toned. Build muscle!

1- use one dumbbell and do one side at a time
2-you are using your arms to assist the bend
3-i know this is just a demo but that small amount of weight wont do much
eonaxes 1 year ago
@eonaxes it doesnt matter about the weight when toning.

Thats so stupid, use one weight at a time duh!
other wise it makes no diffrence from having no weight cause you are evenly balanced?
robjbray 3 years ago 15
@robjbray thats kinda of stupid, using one at a time would end up with uneven mucle tone
XPARKOURXMA 1 year ago
@XPARKOURXMA That's why you do an even number and alternate every 5-10 reps.
