This is a risky idea, yu could press too hard and yu could fuck the solder around the GPU or CPU which in turn will kill your xbox or it may work.... Word of advice if your xbox is still under warranty your better off sending it away, if not just open it up and repair with RROD kit

that. OR, you can all make a custom high powered fan ti put on your systems. thats right, fresh out the box, use a fan with it. i only say this because my 1st xbox was a launch system, i had no fan on it. after that one died and went e74. i used fans from there up, never had a system die again..

To fix your xbox permanetly you gotta get use the towel trick for 5 minutes to heat it up, then get a hammer (about the size of your fist) and line it up with the motherboard. Next, hit it (not to hard) but just hard enough to make a hole, then turn it on and let it sit for 5 minutes, the hole will cool down the xbox. next, buy a new case and replace it with the broken one, thumbs up if it worked :)

My thought on why this works: Theres this padding on the GPU (almost like a bandaid type) and they use this to cool it down. Usually, this just ends up killing your system. What this may do is either

A) provide some heat release

or

B) loosen the padding so it comes off

just to add to my previous post,did this and it worked for about 10 days i tried it again it worked for 1 day,so i took it apart used a hair dryer to heat up the mother board on revers side everywere but mainly behind the cpu and gpu for about 4 mins then let it sit there for bout 30 mins to cool down flip it over and do same thing on the top side let it cool again for bout 1 hour put it back together and its working like before

I could have turned the camera to the wall on the right were i had 4 other boxes thumbtacked to the wall. It was simply for show. i have a halo edition 360 and caught the 3 rings, it just worked for me.  but after the action starts poppin off in C.O.D (explosions, grenades, etc..) the system freezes :-(

Ouch, that sucks man. Yeah usually that type of action is the hardest on GPUs. What really sucks is theres not much you can do past what you've done without opening the console. It's a shame Microsoft hasn't fool proofed the 360 yet. It's been 4 years, and it's not exactly Rocket Science.

i had red ring of death on 12 september 2009,an on the 14th,I dont cus i tried this method yeah he sounds like a stoner but it works i used my thumbs like he does but i put it on the floor so you can see the bottom that normaly goes on the floor and put a firm amount of pressure on it with the palm of my hands and held it for about 10 to 15 seconds and used my palms in this way about 4 times while it was pluged in an its workin,ill let you know how my xbox is getin on in about a week

This actually worked for me. I had to perform it 3 times at first, and then the next day it had the RRoD again, so I had to perform it 5 times actually. However I think the trick is once it starts working after this start playing a game, and while the GPU is really nice and toasty after working hard on a game (while still on) press down on that same area the GPU is in like you do here. For me that's what has kept it running I think, for the week or so before I've gone on holiday without it...:'(

It actually worked long enough for me to put a game in and have it lock up on me and give me the red ring again. It is progress though.
