  • I've seen that title in a music book somewhere in Georgia, USA.

After hearing it I wish I'd bought it!!

  • Cheers For The Comment :-) Hope you get it sometime!

  • @Georgiaorganist Please send me a copy Bob Addison 17 Charlton Dr. Hampton Va., 23666 Thanks

  • Thanks Rob Charles. Please, please find the music written by Samuel Crossman, tune by John Ireland both Englishmen. "My Song Love Unknown" Lovely you must post on You Turbe

    Thanks

  • Thanks Very Much, can you help me look for this music if you can?

  • Yes! I'm still trying to find sheet music for Rhosymedre. Been trying for a year no sucess. Must be exclusive sheet music for England not U. S. If you ever listen to Corssman's piece it is so lovely you'll tear up

  • Cool Thanks.

  • Rob Charles have you found Samuel Crosman tune by John Ireland "..My Son Love Unknown" Yet? Post it please

  • Where can I find it ????

  • Perhaps I can help clarify the misleading information.

I think what is intended is "Love Unknown", a setting by John Ireland (not Samuel Crossman), to Crossman's WORDS "My song is love unknown".

It should be in almost any hymn book from AMR onwards (although English Hymnal predates the tune); most certainly you will find it in AMR, Hymns Old & New (Anglican), Songs Of Praise, Hymns & Psalms, and Rejoice & Sing.

Nice instrument you have there; I play a smaller modern one.

  • superb. Thank you. I grew up in Rhosymedre, which is a small village near Wrexham in north Wales and after which this organ piece and the hymn is named. It is an un-assuming little place, not aespecially pretty, but it has mountains beaming down on it and the scars of industry. Certainly not as beautiful as Vaughan Williams' piece, but there is beauty in everything isnt there. I am fond of it.

  • Thanks.

  • I love that song, i played it with my orchestra at my school

  • This is where I made my youtube fame to stardom back in 2007!

  • We are getting ready to play this piece as a part of a collegiate group that I play with -- I'll try and post it as a video response. Nice job!

  • Good Luck And Thanks!! Check Out the updated video of this somewhere in my profile.

  • We are playing this in memory of the lead Trombone player who passed away this week in our concert on Tuesday. I am glad to hear it sound so beautiful.

  • I meant... he passed in some other way... and the concert is this coming Tuesday... No he didn't pass at a concert.

    Oops...

  • i love this piece were playing it in orchestra! so pretty

  • We are listening to this piece tomorrow at our church during communion as part of Vaughn Williams day - thanks

  • I couldn't help but notice at about 3:10 that looked like a bad place for the transcriber or whatever to put a page turn -- but you handled it gracefully. :-)

I work at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis and also help out in the concert and jazz bands, and we're playing Rhosymedre this semester in concert band (BTW, I play the tuba in concert band at MoBap).

I gotta be honest and say that until this fall, I hadn't heard of this piece before, but I must say I like it! :-)

  • Thanks for the comments - in the process of editing a new version of this demonstrating the choir organ.

  • Even better this time RobCharles!

  • Thank you!

  • Hi Dave

Thanks for the compliment, I love playing this piece of music I learnt this all by myself through hard practice and as you know its not an easy one to grasp, but when you certainly stick at it you know everything falls in to place.

Il'e keep that in mind, as long as you have big organs same as the the Organ I'm playing here! :-)

    Regards

    Rob

  • Rob

Excellent, well played. One of my favourite pieces, makes a real change to hear it played on a 3 manual pipe organ. I'm in North Devon, so if you want to cross over the water and try some of our parish organs round here let me know.

BTW like the new photo pic!!

  • Thanks!

You will have to mail order it I don't know if you have a local music shop you will need to ask to order or google it Sheetmusic plus??

  • This piece is so lovely, it flows so beautifully. Where can I get the sheet music?RobCharles?

  • Awesome job!! I love this piece. Played it in band back in the day.

  • hi Rob thanks for your post about my playing I like your posts, keep up the good work!

I play this and enjoy Whitlock,Smith,Rowley,Thiman also

2008 marks the 50th anniversary of Vaughan Williams' death

he was organist of the Church of St. Barnabas, South Lambeth.

  • Yeah its my favourate too, not easy mind as some might say, you just got to keep playing it and practicing it and an idea also is to listen to CD Recordings so that you get the idea of what it sounds like.

  • A favourite of mine - but not one I've attempted yet. I keep tossing the sheets up onto the rack, shaking my head in dismay after a few moments, and putting them back in their folder!

  • Ahhhh my favourate!
