Why aren't we investing in solar power? We have plenty of sun all over Kenya. Where are we going to store nuclear waste? Kenyan lives will be at risk. We can't even contain a simple petrol spill, how are we going to contain the nuclear waste?
Kenyans are such hypocrites, we want to develop and to get electricity but yet we don't want nuclear energy. What is the cheapest alternative? yes I thought so Nuclear...people need to understand as the energy demands increase then we need alternative form of energy and nuclear energy is the cheapest. The rest we do not even have the knowledge to come close to adopting that kind of energy.
it is a committee not a plant. please Kiraitu stop fooling Kenyans. Lets first use the money on areas that are a priority like proper schools, hospitals and roads. Committee is just another way to embezzle money. I am not holding my breath here. nothing will come out of it.
The fat cats are grinning cheek to cheek about the possibility of huge kickbacks. Lets just say it will cost twice as much as the estimates fellow Kenyans.
so if we use 1300 megawatts why we need to produce 15000? ..they shud only do this if it will be run by a foreign company.. we all know how it will end if run by the government... what happened to the major wind turbine project in lake turkana that is currently under construction and will cover the electric shortage..we are constantly been used to fatten european pockets for projects we dont need for kickbacks to ministers and the country is left to pay the bill..no wonder we still colonized
If we can afford Ksh 4.2 trillion to build the required nuclear power plants, let's go for it. But with the big fish in the mix, the power plants might end up costing twice or more. This could also be an avenue for the new fish who feel it's their time to eat. God forbid. As for risks associated with nuclear power plants, they're minimal because there are levels of safety measures. Just Google.
This is the way to go!..those who don't like this project are really serious about the our Country moving forward technologically, the project will bring more positive things than the just wastes some are propping here!
Its all good lakini weka hiyo reactor karibu na kwenu....
Its not fear but the track record of you folks leaves alot to be desired...Traffic tao inaleta noma now this white elephant ambaye haitaki upuzi..One mistake na radionuclides kwa atmosphere contaminants kama idiodine; plutonium isotopes..Chernobyl gives me the creeps..
I know France will advise & r one of the best in the market and deriving 75% of its electricity from nuclear..but Kenya at this juncture needs to reassess its priorities
There is nothing wrong with nuclear power and indeed it is a very positive step in the right direction. Education about this project is the number one goal. However Kenya needs to understand that there are no shortcuts while operating a nuclear plant. Shoddy maintenance, poor work ethics, corruption etc... and we will be the Africa's first Chernobyl...
Why are kenyans mocking this? This is a very viable project and we have nuclear scientists in Kenya. Do some research before you expose your ignorance...
Like a child wanting to walk before he/she has mastered how to crawl. For a country that hasn't mastered dealing with sewage how & where are we going to dump nuclear waste
Where are we gonna borrow that cash from? Uncle Sam? EU? Qatar? And in case we get it, who do we entrust on such a budget? Uhuru? We have too many troubles to even dream of nuclear power!

It is possible to raise that sum. Am sure many Kenyans want a stake in that project.

I hope we are also prepared for the nuclear waste too. We have NOT been able to workout our sewage system yet, remember.
