ehmm not offence but. this guy draws really bad... he bought that wacom because he got the money or he actually use it as artist or professional and here he just joke around???
I'm not offended by your statement... I'll admit I'm not a great digital artist. But I take issue with your ignorant question, did I just buy a $5000 Wacom Cintiq to doodle?

why are lcd tablets so expensive whereas the components are ultra common and cheap ?!
an ipad costs 500$ yet it is a full computer, with cpu, graphic card ect... not just a screen. and it's still cheaper than a monitor and a graphic tablet bought together !
a full hd monitor 150$
a graphic tablet 200$ max
why can't we excpect a tablet monitor for less than 500 $ ?
@Metapharsical the problem with that right there is i am a technology person and so is my mom but we dont have enough darn money grrrrr lol i need to win the lottery lol my mom is getting me the bamboo pen and touch tablet for very cheap(thank god to ebay) lol how much was that thing you were useing
@zecle becuase you have to think about creating it and these are SPECIALLY DESIGNED you can just take apart a graphics tablet and put it on top of a lcd screen, there is much different technology going into these than you think,
@RhodderzX i know i cannot. of course they are specially designed. i'm not talking about putting 2 complete finished products together... but... really ? is using a lcd glass whose surface matches EXACTLY the Active surface of a graphic tablet really a different technology ??
@RhodderzX i will rather go with an argument someone gave me on another video: there are not enough customers for this kind of stuff so they have to balance in order to not lose money...
in other words , it's OUR fault lol.. if we purchased tablet monitors instead of trivial graphic tablets, the prices may go down...
@zecle If you can find the parts used then a graphic tablet can be made for less than $500. Not all tablets are created equally. If you just want to doodle then a tablet with 512 levels of sensitivity can be found relatively cheap. If you want 1024 levels expect to pay more. Also, the size of the tablet make the price fluctuate. You also have to consider paying for the labor of making one. Remember this is custom piece of equipment and not mass manufactured.
None smaller than the Cintiq 12"... You could make one, but bear in mind that a small screen is going to be aggravating to do any real work on. Though the resolution of the Wacom pads is VERY high in comparison to the screen.
@XxLightNTheDarknessX You are not the only one, >_> If you run into anything plz let me know, I will love you forever!! @_@ not to sound creepy or anything. XD
@lolvely1 sorry to dissapoint but i sorta just settled for a wacom bamboo pen tablet. doesn't work the same as this one but i like it so far(yeah for like the two days i've had it XP lol)
@XxLightNTheDarknessX Sigh Unfortunetly I'm not ready to fork out 1000 $_$ for a graphic tablet just yet, but I was thinking of settling for the bamboo for right now. I'm not giving up!! there has to be one Graphic tablet in this big god greeen world that has a screen on it!!! There HAS TO BE!!! O_O
The Wacom software interfaces with Windows and Mac operating systems. So it works as a mouse as well as having pressure-sensitive abilities in software that specifically supports the Wacom tablets. For example photoshop... As for Gimp, I'm not sure, but it might have pressure-sensitivity.
Oh sweet okay, So how is the jitter? I got a cintiq 12wx, but im thinking of making one like this. I really dig your case. Do you have a detailed write up on materials and stuff anywhere?
Hey Metapharsical, I was curious, does your DIY cintiq have the whole screen as the working area? I thought that it would only work as big as the tablet was, rather it be 4x6 or A4 size or whatever. How did you make it use the entire 22inch LCD? What tablet did you use?
The screen is backed by a 12x18 Intuos3 which is almost exactly the dimensions of a 22" 16:10 ratio monitor. Just a few mm's of sensor left beyond the screen.
I really gotta put new videos up now that I have painted and chromed the stand. I'll do a better job showing off the drawing surface as well.

@zecle
The short answer: Market economics.
Companies will charge as MUCH as people are willing to pay...
Professionals in any trade will pay big money for a high grade tool.

@Metapharsical convenience too
and also most people have no idea how much it costs them to make the things.
or how cheap it would be to make their own

raceme914 2 years ago
oh, I didn't buy it. I built it myself, combining an LCD and a Wacom drawing tablet.
Google DIY Cintiq and Bongofish and you'll find the forum that got me started. They're very helpful.
If you're lucky, you can find the parts for cheap and make your own [smaller] one for less than $200, maybe alot less if you're lucky.
