@TheDippaDappa : A Dunlop GCB-95 workd fine, and they are fairly cheap. The Vox wah's have a different "voice" that some prefer. Go to GuitarCenter and try them out. =)

Consider the fact you are better then Steve Vai or Richie Sambora @ covering this song shows some "great" players are overhyped big time. I watched their video and got sick to my stomach. It was the hairband version I guess yuck. Only Slash and SRV have been better so far than you so keep rocking. Mind you I've on seen 8 attempts on video so there alot I have not seen yet.

@sam350999 : You could get close with an SG. Even Jimi played an SG and a Les Paul for about five minutes. He also playes a Flying Vee, which had humbuckers. There 'ya go!

It is based around an E chord, which is the simplest chord to lear, a bend on the second fret of the g, and a pull off from the third fret of the e to second fret of d. Jimi used that structure ALOT (It's too bad, hear my train a comin, voodoo chile (not slight return), midnight lightning (kind of) etc.) Everyone has their own style of playing...I shy towards Jimi more than Stevie Rays, although I do take a few licks from him. Just do your own thing.
