  • I'm a beginner, and Jimi Hendrix is one of idols, it sucks that most kids my age don't know what good music is. Yea, I think I grew up in the wrong generation. But anyway, that was an awesome cover, and that's a cool strat you got there. Thanks for posting this.

  • @poisonsox3 : Thank you, poisonsox3! Learn to play Jimi's music, and take it to the next generation! Peace~

  • @poisonsox3

you sound like you want a medal for liking hendrix. you're nothing but a self centered prick but guess what...there's millions of people like you living on an island called 'i am the only one'.

  • “Music is a safe kind of high.”

    ― Jimi Hendrix

  • Hey motorpsych0, I've been watching your videos (this one in particular) for years now and I'm wondering how I can learn it by myself, did you have any video/book/tabs to teach yourself? if yes which did you use?

    thanks in advance

  • @lorencoo : I learned this by ear. It's all about memorization for me. There is a tutor DVD for AxisBoldAsLove for sale on GuitarWorld dot c o m. It is a great tutorial.

  • @motorpsych0 awesome, ill check it out thanks a lot!

  • Motorpsych0 Someone once told me that we are our own worst critic, while there were a couple "blips" if you didn't say anything about them most listeners wouldn't even have had a clue...Again great job, also great tone. As close to Jimi's as you can get....

  • @SpareParts54 : Hey man, thanks for that!

  • Suicidalcamo69 I guess we all can't have perfect pitch ;-)

  • @SpareParts54 : =)

  • Motorpsych0 are you tuned down 1/2 step?

  • @SpareParts54 ; Yes. =)

  • @SpareParts54 its kinda obious :)

  • Sweet job--inspiring

  • Yeah sweet but listen, you're like me, I'll ask how many mistakes did I make and people say none when playing i can find 5 or 6.. haha

  • very nice cover, very nice guitar

    great job man !!!!

  • @KieranR1000 : Thank you!

  • great job! what is your gear?

  • @Qoooba95 : Thanks! My gear is listed earlier in this thread.

  • tom seleck?

  • Yes, very nice cover.

  • @JuliansGuitarCovers : Thanks! =D

  • I really enjoyed!!!!!! Can't be easy with Jimi himself looking over your shoulder. :-)

  • @michaelharmon1962 : Yes, Jimi was making sure I did not mess up his song!

  • I really enjoyed!!!!!!

  • good video editing,,, lol those comment made me refrain from pointing them out here on my comment!

  • @suli559 : LOL, thanks for watching! =D

  • i always get an orgasm at the 0:45-0:48 sec part, with every version/cover of this song

  • wowowwwwww!!!! your awesome >:Dwish i could play like that :D

  • @wkd0 : You can do it! =D

  • thanks for posting man it helped me out a lot when I learned how to play!

  • awesome stache.......

  • Hey man, I was wondering if you were using any pedals besides a wah-wah?

  • @NicTolby93 : I kick in the lead channel on the Mesa DC-5 for overdrive sections. On top (left) of my amp, I am using a Alesis NanoVerb unit. I use one of the "plates" reverb choices.

  • smoooth

  • @mrhappy003 : OK, thanks! =D

  • wow very cool!

  • is that a fender mustang in the background

  • i like this a lot nice cover keep it up.

  • Had to laugh a little at your in sheer honesty *eeks* and *acks*. Nicely done, dude. Fun to watch and great to listen to.

  • @mtraas3 : Thanks!

  • I'm pretty sure if you tried playing voodoo child on anything else besides an american made fender strat your hands would explode and your dick would shoot out your ass

  • @MrBlondeEmo I tried it and.....well, let's just say i dont like to talk about it, xD

  • @MrBlondeEmo I play it on a mexican made fender Telecaster and none of that has ever happened. lol

  • @MrBlondeEmo Try watching the Slash and Zakk Wylde cover.

  • best

  • badass cover!

  • dude youre money!

  • Amazing.....

  • love your cover. was gonna ask what amp and whatnot you were using, but I don't really care. sounds good whatever you are doing.

  • im thinkin of getting a wah pedal...got any suggestions what i should buy? i play mostly metal/rock...dont know does that really matter :p

  • @TheDippaDappa : A Dunlop GCB-95 workd fine, and they are fairly cheap. The Vox wah's have a different "voice" that some prefer. Go to GuitarCenter and try them out. =)

  • @TheDippaDappa any crybaby ,their gnarly

  • The fender is made in USA or in Mexico?

  • @fisoangusmarde : USA model. (1996)

  • Awesome cover man! Wish I could play it as well as you someday!

  • dooon ramoooonnn

  • you're so talented, how long have you been playing for?

  • @ppppdmt : Thanks! I've played as a hobby since my teens. I'm just a do-it-yourself player! =)

  • ur fucking legend you need to put some help vids on here and teech us your methods ur almost better than hendrix himself dood :)

  • @MrTomatoseed : I WISH! Thanks for the comments. =)

  • Thanks for the reply my friend. I want to learn how to play the guitar and then be a guitar ace. I do have a good ear to music, which,is how I know when someone is a scrub. Good luck

  • wow you rock my socks off. You are dedicated and it pays off.

  • @Gspotkemps : =D

  • You are pretty good for an amateur player doing it on your spare time. Consider the fact you are better then Steve Vai or Richie Sambora @ covering this song shows some "great" players are overhyped big time. I watched their video and got sick to my stomach. It was the hairband version I guess yuck. Only Slash and SRV have been better so far than you so keep rocking. Mind you I've on seen 8 attempts on video so there alot I have not seen yet.

  • @rjackson1371 : Thanks, RJ! Those players a TRUE players, where I simply mimmick the greats like Jimi. I do, however, take pride in attempting to ace their tone, feel and phrasing. It's how I roll! =)

  • Most people can't get Hendrix feeling or soul when they play his music. You did great man!

  • @tylerlovesthebeatles : Thank you for the comment, Tyler! =)

  • you should do some duane allman stuff!!!

  • @Glassandcandy : Hmmm. =)

  • I wanna play like you someday, that exact song.

  • Is the guitar tuned down a halfstep?

  • @Luckyisdaname : Yes.

  • Wow, not only are you a boss on the guitar, you actually look like Boss from Meatl Gear Solid.

  • i love that wah sound. ayeee i want a wah sooo bad

  • And they call 'em "old timers" eh?

  • Does anyone know how this would sound using Gibson SG with the right effects? I'm getting a multi effects peddle soon and just wanted to know how I could get it to sound right with using a strat. Thanks. Great job by the way, sounds very professional.

  • @sam350999 : You could get close with an SG. Even Jimi played an SG and a Les Paul for about five minutes. He also playes a Flying Vee, which had humbuckers. There 'ya go!

  • @sam350999 I play a Les Paul and I got no problems getting the right sounds, just experiment man.

  • Nice =)

  • you are surely having a great time honouring Jimi, don't you ? and no need to be so hard on yourself regarding mistakes...all those improvising greats make mistakes too...playing from the heart is much more important and that's what you do. kudos !

    peace & love from netherlands...

    henny

  • @henny66306 : Thank you, Henny! Hello from Texas, USA! =)

  • Hmm.. many famous guitar player have checked out this fine performance such as Frusiciante, Jimmy P, Eric Gonorrhea.. or clap-something etc. - no wonder 'cause Zappa plays Jimi 8D

  • Nice hendrix replica ;) and great sound ast the start :)

  • god dam i wish i chould play this i dont got the time to pratice anymore. real nice

  • i hear he painted his room olympic white back in 1996 and now its fading yellow too.

  • The source of your power comes from the mustache am I right? I don't see where else the awesome could be hiding!

  • @ZKDanika its good. but the singing is debatable

  • @JFrusciante12 thanks , yeah , couldn't find a singer . so I needed to do it ... but someone had to :)

  • is that mexican or american standard?

  • @JFrusciante12 : It's a USA Strat (Corona Ca.) 1996 model.

  • @motorpsych0 nice i just bought one of those. same color. sounds great

  • @JFrusciante12 : Cool! =D

  • Hendrix number 2 :-)

  • Eargasme(A)!!

  • No need for the running commentary of fuck ups, no one wud notice! Fine job!

  • Nice sound!!! Are you using a Cry Baby?

  • @SpareParts54 : Yes, a standard Cry Baby.

  • Hey man dont get too nervous haha we all mess up sometimes but its all good, great song and great job by you man.

  • badass cover man

  • your video would be soooo much better without comments popping up! Your playing is great...be proud man

  • Relax! I barely noticed your mistakes. Besides, I've been playing guitar for most of my life and I make little mistakes like that all the time.

  • Just came back to anjoy!

  • @SpaceGuitar69 : Thanks, man! =D

  • Great stuff!

  • love it!

  • @ra2yuri4 just learn it with the heart. It is based around an E chord, which is the simplest chord to lear, a bend on the second fret of the g, and a pull off from the third fret of the e to second fret of d. Jimi used that structure ALOT (It's too bad, hear my train a comin, voodoo chile (not slight return), midnight lightning (kind of) etc.) Everyone has their own style of playing...I shy towards Jimi more than Stevie Rays, although I do take a few licks from him. Just do your own thing.

  • Awsum.

  • what tabs did you learn it from?

sick playing man, love the tone and is that a tele? lol awesome~

  • @ra2yuri4 : I learned it by ear. No tabs used at all! That's how I roll. =)

  • @ra2yuri4 yeah, the whole idea behind the song is improv anyway

  • @jimmyp73 Yeah, I'm a guitar player for 11 months, I kind of rely on tablatures for most of my music. I really need to take a class some day, lol. I'd really love to get into learning Purple Haze and Voodoo Child some day.

  • @ra2yuri4 tabs okay tolearn by but u should never become reliant, you need to bable to 'feel it' and not just play the notes

  • @ra2yuri4 lol course its not a tele

  • @TehSxeNerd lol, holy crap. I wasn't looking at it properly, lol. The neck skin kind of threw me off.

  • @ra2yuri4 haha ll once i thought a les paul junior was an sg

  • dude your a beast, sick cover

  • @detroitpistons00 : Thanks! =D

  • i would kill a man to get that tone. i would take a life for it. i would.

  • @Glassandcandy : It took years to find this tone! Thanks for watching. =)

  • Wow, nice job :) and Nice pic of jimi behind :)

  • @PriemelFriemel : Thank you! =)

  • Lovin' that tone, old timer. Keep rockin' hendrix :)

  • Hendrix used amazing chords on the blues form, full of surprise he was.

  • @drwinkle101 : YES! =)

  • It takes a lot to impress me lol; Iv'e been listening to music for a long time( I.am a huge Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull Led Zep etc. fan)...consider me duly impressed.

  • @BloxorzWizard : Hey, I appreciate the comments! =D

  • Funny stuff man - if you didn't point out the mistakes, most if not all would go unnoticed! I'll take feeling over technical precision anyday and ypou were feelin it! KILLER cover man - I really enjoyed this alot. Peace
