@jewish: i do have to agree that this sounds a lot like haydn but y is that surprising? after all, beethoven did in fact study with him so it wouldn't be a surprise for him to be influenced by haydn's music.
I see more instruments than needed though! While 3 French horns usually isn't a lot anymore for today's bands and orchestras, 2 was enough for an early Beethoven piece like this. In fact, that's the only amount of parts Beethoven wrote for the piece, 2. It was the same with all the wind parts, so I don't know why I see more than 2 of a bunch of these wind players.
Also, those harpists look pretty bored sitting there, I'm positive they didn't have a part for this piece. :P
oh,and you think you can do better ?!you are going to be immortal like him?who are you ?are you a great composer?are your compositions played all over the world?it's so easy to speak right?ignorant and frustrated !!!!
The little intro Beethoven uses (The violin solo hesitantly playing bits of the G mixolydian scale) is superflous in my opinion---Beethoven could've just skipped it,and it would've sounded better. Also, besides being debted to Haydn, this symphony owes a LOT to MOZART.Listen to his Conceretos #13,21,and 25 and his Linz Symphony(All in C major) and you'll hear a lot of the chord progressions of this symphony .Facts are Facts--Beethoven started out as a Mozart wannabe.
at the end, the last couple of quarter notes(for the trumpets) should be a little longer. Not staccato. (the ones after the decending arpeggio type thing)
I know this becasue i play the trumpet (duh) and know the part. We played this our orchestra and they're like Beethoven quarters or something...that are held a little longer/full value to have a resonance sound. Especially since it's the end of the symphony. =P
Everyone was amazing. Except for that long haired 2nd violin player near the back. I think he ruins the whole piece. I'm just guessing but is his name CJ? Yeah I think so. What a dumb name..I bet his parents hate him and he has no friends.

This is a fine effort by a young orchestra. You can find far worse performances of adult orchestras on YouTube.
