Most likely a 8V71. The reason I think so is because the 92 series engine came standard with both a supercharger and a turbo charger. Buses equipped with the 71 series engine only had the super charger and not the turbo charger. If that engine was a 92 series you would hear a slight jet engine like whistle coming from the engine compartment.
Both engines are good but the 92 gives you the best of both worlds.
sounds like a 6V92 the idle is to slow and low pitch sounding for an 8V71. I rebuilt plenty 6V92Ts in MC9s. that air conditioner is going full tilt. you can hear the fan up by the front tire.
You know I can recall back when I was little and the Riverside County School District was still running those old Crown School Buses with the old 8v92's in them.Man those engines could scream.
Gotta love these Detroits...I will be posting a video of a long ride inside a Greyhound-style MCI bus like this, only I don't think it had a Detroit Diesel...Thanks for the vid!!
Very nice!

Definitely an 8v71. The pitch is too low to be anything else.

This bus does have the Detroit Diesel 8V71N engine with the Allison HT-740 automatic transmission.
My city doesn't have that many MCI MC-9 coaches anymore, including the MCI-102A3 coaches.

wow, you know your stuff

Bus looks too old (MC-9) for an 8V-92. More likely an 8V-71.

On a trip to Seattle in 2005, or shutte bus a Gray line MC-9, sound like it was powered by a 8V-92.
