God I miss this game I have not played it in so long, I remember when me and my sis made Dio and Jotaro's spirits got at it with the punches it was so much fun. I want to find and buy this game again.
Not really. Jotaro, Kakyoin, and Shadow Dio are hands down the most used. Dio is in the middle with characters like Chaka, Polnareff, Abdul, Hol Horse etc. Maybe slightly more.
Dio isn't that popular of a character in Japan because he has medium difficulty to play but he's only mid tier. Whereas someone like Jotaro is less specific, easier to play, and is top tier. Characters like Anubis Polnareff, Shadow Dio, and Young Joseph are more common picks because they're such easy characters to play.
Hmm? He's talking about the instant kill in the final round. @ chickenbone, yes, it's a bug. You have to specifically set up a combo so that they die AFTER you've started timestop, because the game cuts off input immediately upon KO. AFAIK doing anything to them in the next round will kill.

Pretty sure this is the arcade version, but if you're looking for a home console conversion the Dreamcast one's the best port.
There's also a version for the PS1, but it's vastly inferior.

Whoever was playing Dio on the 3rd match was trying to be a little too flashy with the time stop attempt. He payed the price for fail on that one.
