@Bryan62601 I just did the update yesterday. My phone is faster (like he said in the video) and the anims are smoother. The best thing so far is the camera is A LOT faster at taking pics. The only thing I don't like is they reversed the colors for contacts list and such (was white text on black background, now it's black text on white-ish background). Viewing sucks when you open your contacts list at night! Other than the color change I mentioned, I like it.
excuse the question, but I had not heard that since you can hack the system efuse of Motorola, this is the system that lets the phone work with software other than the original, as is done to install the android 2.3?, as I so that the phone does not hang?
@Targetsyou thats been happening to me too....the only way i can listen to music now s if i listen in airplane mode then urn it off when im done with msic..its so annoying
The Droid-X Gingerbread Blue Themed Notifcation bar + Blue-ish Dialer is the best looking in my Opinion. I'm dispoainted with the Droid Charge's theme coloring on Gingerbread ( yellow, orange, grey ) ... cmon but again I have never used TouchWiz before so maybe they are used to it.

I expected more from Droid-Life... you can long-press any apps in your app drawer to pop up the option of adding to the home screen, sharing, adding to a group, or uninstalling.
@Spikeman23 Im sorry to say... But the Droid 2 Global towers over the Droid X.... Droid 2 Global is exactly the same as the Droid X but we have 1.2 Gigahertz processor, as the X only has a 1.0. . . . Oh, and if you go out of country, even if you have roaming added to your phone bill, you wont have service. Across country, they use different phone frequency's, And that's what our SIM card is for in our Global. So, before you say it "sucks" Do your research. Thanks (:

VZDub has already had to exchange my Droid X once because of the massive problems with it. Dozens of soft resets and 3 hard resets. So far, just tonight, I've uninstalled apps, and still had to soft reset it about six times. If I keep uninstalling apps, what the hell is the point of having an Android? I wish that I had never updated, and I can't even go thru VZ for another exchange because it's not an issue with the phone and they'll tell me to contact Google. This sucks.
Phone is laggier than ever, not responsive, when I start a new search page say google I have to wait 10-15 seconds before it unfreezes everytime, keyboard sucks, more force closes, clock on the home screen falls behind sometimes hours behind real time, not getting all my notifications, battery life is absolute garbage now dead within hours with moderate use, 3g goes away and comes back all the time when still in the same place, camera wont start at times have to reset it...hmmm anything else?
@vvette917 Damn bro sounds like you got an issue w/ the phone. You know I don't have any of those problems BUT I did in the past! From my own stupidity. If you have a custom home launcher i.e ADW EX. Make sure you did not leave all ur widgets on your original home screen. This is what I did not knowing and I installed launcher pro right over it.....My batter life cut in HALF as well as all of the issues u describe. After fixing it I have had 0 problems. Battery life on the X is 1 of the best..

@TwistedHumorist yeah. i had the text box disappearing issue as well. i found the solution to that was going to the settings and turning off word prediction and highlighted words. my sister has the freezing issue as well, but factory resetting hers fixed her problem.. i just got a new droid x a few days ago and mine's working properly (for now haha), but hope that turning off word predictions works for you. i never had the camera problem though. Just get the advanced task killer widget it works
@TwistedHumorist I think u just got a bad phone man LOL. The 3630-1000 OMAP flies through shit. The home screen o 2.2 was a bit laggy but 2.3 fixed that issue. That had nothing to do with the CPU, it was software issue. No way to turn off apps in the back round?? What? Yes there is. However you don't need ot because the phones memory will easily handle programs. You would have to be doin some crazy shit 2 deplete the phones memory. My phone has yet to stutter handling pretty much any APP.
@ItsssQuade - **TEXTING KEYBOARD ISSUE FIX** - Clear the saved words cache in the keyboard settings. Also can try changing to swype method and just dont swype. Clearing the cache worked for me though.

It's alright, but I can't really tell since I was currently having fun using a Launcher. The wonderful thing was that I could finally access 'Data Manager' easily versus the slow process of accessing it to turn on/off 3G.

Notably, I love most of the changes. However, there was a change with the Swype keyboard that you didn't mention - there is no more smiley/emoticon button when in the txting app! They've changed it to the "enter" arrow that you'd see when browsing. Now, if you hit the menu button you can choose an emoticon option and choose from the new cool looking green smilies. It's really upsetting though that they've made getting to these a longer process, when a majority of txters use them quite often.
You never added an app from the tray onto a homescreen. Instead of the icon just moving onto the homescreen, a menu pops up to add it to a group, uninstall the app, add it to homescreen, or to share it. When you add it to a homescreen, you can change the bottom four shortcut keys too. If you want to delete an icon, you move it to the top instead. The music player also added genre to its categories and in landscape mode shows the albums like iTunes and HTC Sense player do.

I did my research<--- Droid X owner, the 2.3 software is being delivered to different models of phones in batches, the Droid X is going to be one of the first phones to get the update, they send the update out to random people so you will eventually get it no matter what.

@onlychicanomex Lol. IDK if going from the X to the charge will make a big difference 4 u. I'm pretty sure they have right around the same performance specs. I think the X may even be a bit faster in processing power? Not 2 mention the X looks better than the Charge 4 sure. If it's storage problems just get a big micro SD and u can move 90% of ur apps 2 SD with 2.2 and up. Justa s suggestion but u will add some "snap" by movng ur apps 2 SD.
i have 2.2.3 runing on first generation droid thanks to a custom rom fast i went from 2.1 to 2.2.3 and the battery life is so much better now and is fast too
hey, i have questions so i know what i'm in for. does the lock-screen still lag? does the gallery lag (with the improved version)? do the wallpapers still flicker when you scroll on your home-screen? and lastly do the wallpapers make the phone molasses like? they have probably all been addressed but i just want to make sure.
Well, I must say...this ish is awesome. F#CK Iphone. I was rooted on Froyo, and I did the update to Gingerbread from DroidXForums for rooted users. The phone is so much nicer now, and I still have my root. Free wi-fi baby!!
the multi touch keyboard has been completely overhauled. it's now the best keyboard on the market. after typing several words and sentences the system saves your words, so example you type "meet me at the mall" the next time you type meet, it will auto prompt and every word in that sentence will pop up if you want to finish the same words you've typed. in essence the keyboard now acts with memory of your most used phrases.
You keep saying Blur but there is no Blur on the Droid X or any of the current Verizon phones. Blur requires a login account before you can even access the homescreen. I'm just saying since I work for "M"...
@fmfpower20 yea ur right, rooting ur phone does not mess up ur phone. but everything after that if not done correctly will! flashing something wrong, flashing the wrong thing. flashing the right thing but its not 4 the rom ur on. honestly its extremely easy to mess up ur phone. but on the same note its also very easy to fix it. thats y i told him to read b4 he did. cuz its better to know how to do things before u start panicking if u do mess up. there was no intent to scare anyone out of rooting

I did my research<--- Droid X owner, the 2.3 software is being delivered to different models of phones in batches, the Droid X is going to be one of the first phones to get the update, they send the update out to random people so you will eventually get it no matter what.

@onlychicanomex Lol. IDK if going from the X to the charge will make a big difference 4 u. I'm pretty sure they have right around the same performance specs. I think the X may even be a bit faster in processing power? Not 2 mention the X looks better than the Charge 4 sure. If it's storage problems just get a big micro SD and u can move 90% of ur apps 2 SD with 2.2 and up. Justa s suggestion but u will add some "snap" by movng ur apps 2 SD.

i have 2.2.3 runing on first generation droid thanks to a custom rom fast i went from 2.1 to 2.2.3 and the battery life is so much better now and is fast too

hey, i have questions so i know what i'm in for. does the lock-screen still lag? does the gallery lag (with the improved version)? do the wallpapers still flicker when you scroll on your home-screen? and lastly do the wallpapers make the phone molasses like? they have probably all been addressed but i just want to make sure.

Well, I must say...this ish is awesome. F#CK Iphone. I was rooted on Froyo, and I did the update to Gingerbread from DroidXForums for rooted users. The phone is so much nicer now, and I still have my root. Free wi-fi baby!!

the multi touch keyboard has been completely overhauled. it's now the best keyboard on the market. after typing several words and sentences the system saves your words, so example you type "meet me at the mall" the next time you type meet, it will auto prompt and every word in that sentence will pop up if you want to finish the same words you've typed. in essence the keyboard now acts with memory of your most used phrases.

Not enough of a change to warren unrooting my droid x to get this update.
I can do most of that by changing to a different home launcher .
am kinda disappointed in gingerbread.

This update is so easy just
1. Download gingerbread using the DROID X browser
2. Go to the files app and look at the folder that says downloads
3. Find the gingerbread app move it to the root( the page with all the files a.k.a the files front page) and rename to update.zip
4. Turn off phone
5. Press the power and home button at the same time till it turns on and there is a yellow triangle
6. And update manually
No pc needed and no root needed hope this helpa

You keep saying Blur but there is no Blur on the Droid X or any of the current Verizon phones. Blur requires a login account before you can even access the homescreen. I'm just saying since I work for "M"...

@fmfpower20 yea ur right, rooting ur phone does not mess up ur phone. but everything after that if not done correctly will! flashing something wrong, flashing the wrong thing. flashing the right thing but its not 4 the rom ur on. honestly its extremely easy to mess up ur phone. but on the same note its also very easy to fix it. thats y i told him to read b4 he did. cuz its better to know how to do things before u start panicking if u do mess up. there was no intent to scare anyone out of rooting
