  • Why does this fade out???? One of the best parts of the song is that final organ chord!

  • Magic stuff. My mate used to go out with Alan's cousin. True. I just had to tell someone.

  • Such a great song.........what a voice. Love The Associates.

  • I am 55 years old. I heard this (Associates) song on the same day it was first released. Yesterday I got my car stereo fixed. So ALWAYS my test song for car (and home) stereos is this. At ELEVEN. Incredible. One of my five favorite bands of all time.

  • @skipking and the other 5? :)

this is one of my fav songs by the associates. incredibly produced.

  • No one has written any

    thing like this since!!!

  • Sinister sounds more like the stuff you heard in Doctor Who in the 70s mate. Nothing like Kitchen Person whatsoever. You want to get your ears cleaned-out.

I was always a Kitchen person myself........

  • kingboy69, you were there? My best mate used to go out with Alan Rankine's cousin! So there!

    Jaybird xx

  • This song is a once in a lifetime. This was the most awesome dance/club track back in 81. I was there!

  • This track oddly reminds me of a slichtly sped up version of The Residents' song Sinister Exaggerator. Have a listen, I think there's relationship there..

  • Forget about the last post about emigrating. I'm taking it all with me. Sorry if anyone got excited.

  • Oops, double post, sorry.

  • I've got just about everything on vinyl by the Associates. I am emigrating to Oz in a few months. Don't know how much I can take with me so if anyone wants to buy a rare collection, let me know. Jay xx

PS for what it's worth, my best mate used to go out with Alan Rankin xx Just a though, t post script.

  • Love this song - I'm pretty sure they stole the rhythm (boomba-boomba) from the end of 'Jigsaw Feeling' from the first Souxie and the Banshees album (tape loop). I bought this single unheard - the B-side is 'An Even Whiter Car' - I figured a tune with this name had to be good, still have it.

  • Alan Rankine released a solo album when the Associates split called `The World Begins to Look Her Age` and the title track has exactly the same audio carnage as Kitchen Person and is a real gem, can someone post it (I've got the original album but have no idea of how to post it for the rest of you to enjoy!).

  • Got to be my fav', total mayhem....... never better.

  • My favourite Associates song. Areally powerful number i can play again and again.

  • Kitchen person must be one of the greatest songs. Love the speed of the song and trade mark Associates sound. where to from here??????

  • when this came out, it was the sound of my head - drama, life, happiness, up and down. a moment of ecstatic genius

  • The Associates should have done more tracks like this.

  • One of my favourite songs - and lyrics - ever. Thank you for posting it. :)

  • I find it extremely difficult to make out the lyrics on that song

  • Associates rock !!!! cool slideshow :D
