  • They are already going to be charged with the child's death, I am sure. I am a Christian and I have no problem with that. I don't think the charge will be murder, but manslaughter or negligent homicide. As to indoctrination, any education concerning such things can be painted as indoctrination. Once they are in the public school system, they are being indoctrinated daily AGAINST Christianity because of that bias in the material. Not to mention the anti-Christian bias on tv before that.

  • @ronarprfct It is far from proven-and this is an important point-that children who are truly raised in accordance with all the bible actually says are any less happy as an adult or any less capable of deciding for themselves what to believe than children who aren't raised that way. I know plenty of people who were raised Christian and later decided for themselves that they didn't believe in God or in Christianity.

  • @ronarprfct I was raised as a Christian. When I got older, I decided I didn't believe the bible or in God for several years in my late 20's/early 30's. I then came back to believing on my own and was given a true and pretty much unshakable faith in God by personal experience with him. Once you've experienced God's presence and seen him work in you to make you better-once you've actually felt the Holy Spirit's influence-you no longer can disbelieve unless you are trying to.

  • @ronarprfct Of course, it will always be just subjective and you can just describe people like me as delusional. But you can not-in a country with guaranteed freedom of religion-tell Christians that they can't raise their children as Christians. The bible actually commands us to raise them as Christians. If any law of man ever tries to stop that, the bible also tells us we are to obey God's law rather than man's.

  • @ronarprfct I am sure that-if a new law was enacted that said you had to beat your daughter twice as much as your son-you would then do what YOU thought was right and disobey that law. In truth, if anyone tries to make a law against raising children in Christianity, I've little doubt that a war will ensue-even if not all Christians join it-or that-at the very least-the law will be roundly disobeyed by any true follower of Christ.

  • It is obvious from the fact that 1)Timothy was instructed to take a little wine for his stomach in the bible and 2)The wine was made by man out of materials provided by God that it IS OK to used man-made things to treat physical illness and difficulty. God isn't going to miraculously heal us all the time or even often-he has already provided us with the means to heal ourselves quite often and expects us to us them. Besides, he is probably more concerned with our spiritual health. usually.

  • As an Atheist, I have to disagree on what you said about the girl being better off because she's dead. I believe if should have survived her parents idiotic bullshit, she would grow up to be a better person, having to endure the fumdamentalist torment given by her parents. There are victims then there are survivors.

  • amen PoR. I was raised by ignorant parents and I do sometimes think that id rather have never been born. You very well may be right about her being better off dead as it will save her from walking around this earth with only half a deck of cards.

  • Let's not dance around what this is. This is murder, plain and simple.

They watched the child die while it was within their power to prevent the death.

    This was premeditated murder.

They should be prosecuted for Murder 1, and if the death penalty is avalible in their state, executed.

  • Your a complete fucking idiot. Please go kill your self. You should seriously fucking die.

Is telling your kids to eat healthy "child abuse" also you fucking idiot? They cant decide that for them selvs.

Please go die in a gulf oil fire

  • great points - thanks for standing up - faith is excuse and justification within hope and self-disempowerment to claim self-interested self-delusional temporal protection from reality what always bought by money only by those who have - such inequality is simply unacceptable - equal life and basic physical support must be valued above all and for all - otherwise it's all compromised from it's core starting point

  • I've thought ALOT about this. People who warship christianity (or most organized religions) are proof of darwin. Christian scientists will die off from not administering medicines when needed. Jim jones did one HELL of a great job! Marshall applewhite? Cut off his nuts before he died (thank god that fruit-loop won't procreate). I hate to say it, because I DO feel bad for the kids, but....they'll end the blood line eventually. Darwin was 100% correct, and I Believe he was thinking of Christians.

  • this makes me sad...someone giving up there faith...yes i admit that the parents were stupid to not give her medication...but that is NO REASON to give up faith

  • agree with the murder part. They are murderers.

  • i totaly agree with you.somthing close to faith is dumbluck

  • O:<

  • All children (and those mentally challenged) all go to heaven for they are innocent, and they do not know. I pray I go before my son. If they turn away, from God all we can do is pray for them, to return. However, even if you accept God and turn away, your salvation is not lost. Everyone dies. I don't understand it, or like it. I get angry with God, but he says it ok to get angry. You just have to trust that HE knows best. I wil l pray you change ur ways!

  • hrm.. i think anyone with any reasoning could come to the same conclusion without you making a useless video ranting about stupid bullshit. If they can't your stupid video isn't going to change them. Thanks for standing on a pedestal and wasting my time.. Hypocritical bullshit. Mind you I'm not a religious person, but for someone to say "there is no god" right after going on a rant about how you shouldn't tell anyone if there is or isn't a god or whom the god is.. total hypocrisy. give up.

  • nearly as bad as atheists ripping up babies in the womb, or sucking their brains out with a needle, or sucjking em outta womb with a suction pump, do u really think religious groups are wrong and sceptics, atheists and agnostics are right,

youre a daft cunt, go and lick ya govt arses cause they far worse than any religion

  • @magnusalexa

"nearly as bad as atheists ripping up babies in the womb"

It's a bunch of fucking cells...

  • You are so right...some years ago in Italy an Earthquake brought a Cathedral down killing many people. An old lady said (Through an interpreter) HOW COULD GOD ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN? Blind faith. She thought people would be safe in the house of God.

    Arthur from the UK.

  • dont 4 get the 1 in haite

  • Religion is like a deadly virus it kills it causes war suicide fuck brain washed people who try to push there believes on others they should go to jail did you know you get in trouble for trying to kill your self and this is murder killing your own child cause you think your right well your not lol stupid ass people

  • Religion is putting ones ignorance on an altar.

  • man im not pushing my view but if your kid was dieing you would try anything the parents arent ignorant they just wanted her to live.

  • I think this porr little girl's parents should be ashamed of themselves. Imagine just giving up on your child like that? you would do ANYTHING for you child to survive. You would not let your pet suffer with an illness - you'd get them help - let alone a child. These people are murderers - insane, ignorant and sick.

  • Your a fucking tard. What is going through that little brain of your that them being idiots reflect on their religion. Because they're idiots that means all of christianity iws full of idiots. Seriously your a fucking moron. You can't group people together like that it makes you look like a moron. That's like me saying you being white makes you a racist. IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY MORON.

  • i agree

  • Those are the weird christians, god tells us not to do that, those christians are dumbasses.

  • Please do some research on how many children do die with diabites, even with treatment. You will find the numbers staggering.

    Treatments are not cures.

It is also, within the Patients bill of rights to refuse treament, The decision that the parents made was difficult, and heartbreaking, and yes, basied on their faith. They have lost their daughter. Unless you have ever lost a child, you have no idea the pain that they are in.

And yes. there are documented cases of faith healing people.

  • im really glad christianity is stoping dead in its tracks with me and my bro mike in the murk family. hopefully my other two bros will come around. christianity is a joke , and is a waste of time. its for the gullable.

  • So you have a problem with thou shall not kill, steal, honoring your parents... etc...Okaaay, remind us what neighborhood you live in so the rest of us are a safe distance away from you and live elsewhere. XD

  • Oh it's gullible because you don't believe in it? What a Nazi thing to say you fucking loser.

  • I can live with religious freedom, but this case just makes me angry. Humans have evolved (pun intended) to the point where if someone is sick, the *first* thing to do is to see a doctor. And that medical technology is the best way to fix whatever is wrong with that person.

Faith healing should *only* be used as a last resort, aka *only after traditional medical treatment has failed*!

I'd like to see the Bible passage that states that if people are sick, they should not seek help from doctors.

  • Something as immoral and sick as this happens and STILL you try to rationalise your belief? The way that religion can brainwash people never ceases to amaze me.

There's another angle to this. We have a situation where two strictly religious parents were praying to their god for the health of their daughter. Surely they deserved to have their prayers answered but their god failed them and the girl died. Take a second to think about what we can conclude from that.

  • Yeah and the way you people try to brainwash others into believing what you want is fucking idiotic.

  • lol so god gives the doctors the ability to cure her... Why did he make her sick in the first place? God is not a nice guy.

  • God didn't give her a sickness moron.

  • Yes he did. God has a plan, remember? Everything is god's plan.

  • Your full of shit moron. Don't preach about something unless you know its tenents

  • That's not very religious of you, is it?

  • Wow you can't think of an intelligent retort so your trying to piss me off how pathetic.

  • Your is possessive. You're means you are. It's an extremely simple rule and only extremely stupid people get the two mixed up.

And there was nothing to respond to in your comment. You just say "you don't know what you're talking about" and swear a bit.

  • dont fuck with peoples religions just to be an asshole, it's a more serious matter than you think it is

  • No it isn't. Why do people believe that religion is sacred and should never be examined or criticized? It's stupid. Why are people so threatened by other viewpoints? I don't try to shut up anyone who criticizes atheism. I don't particularly care what they think of it. What is up with religious people and their insistence that nobody should ever say anything bad about it ever?

  • im technically agnostic but i guess u could call me a christian and its not that at all, lots of people need something to believe in, something that makes them comfortable knowing that death isn't the end, whereas i have panic attacks when thinking about it, knowing logic is telling me that heaven, hell, afterlife may not exist at all, its depressing thinking about it and the only way someone can truly die happy is believing it's not the end even is it's all a lie

  • I understand that and I don't try to convert people. But saying that I shouldn't talk about it or criticize it is just kinda stupid. People can believe whatever they like, and I'm even willing to respect those beliefs, but when people start dying as a result of these delusions, I'm gonna start getting really honest. Religion may be important to some people, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be talked about.

  • i understand completely, when people start manipulating people through their beliefs like Osama or old English king's is where everyone should draw the line, although u really shouldnt be criticizing christianity as these types of religious related incidents are now very scarce, the actual enemy today in the guidelines of religious manipulation are the scientologists, do some research on the things these bastards are getting away with, it's a cult and its getting out of control

  • "these types of religious related incidents are now very scarce"

    You are kidding right?

Religion is out of control, ALL religions. Catholic church buying up all the hospitals in an attempt to deny reproductive health care to all women. Some cities you have to drive for hours to find a hospital that is not run by the Catholic church.

They defrauded Blue Cross so much that Blue cross dropped them all from the PPO.

The Pope is the richest man in the world, tha is sinister.

  • show me proof that the big bad pope is out to get you and whoever -1 our conversation down there is a complete dickhead, im not taking your word for it, srry

  • Look it up, never take anyone's word for anything.

I don't know what paranoia you have about -1 but it wasn't me

I was just answering the part where you said that religious related incidents are now very scarce. Lots of people die every day from religion related incidents, kids die from lack of medical care, abortion doctors are murdered, mosques are blown up etc. Most of the suffering in the world is directly related to religion. They interfere with everything from science to education.

  • lol i meant someone gave a negative review on my conversation below and it was a dick move, only a small percentage out some billion people take religion to that extreme, think about it, .7% of 5 bilion is some 350,000 people. At first it seems like a major number of people but when compared to the whole it is barely anything at all. Now if you were to say that this was the number of people that did this horrible deranged stuff, then they are the lesser of the whole and easy to manipulate

  • i still firmly believe that most of the people are level headed and not so easy to take advantage of because of their insecurities, like seriously who would take the word of some random man claiming to have divine power yet never displaying such things over some hundreds of years of research into the human body, the answer is only and idiot would do this, after all i was raised under such religious circumstances. and even went to church school on wednesdays yet i believe a doctor over a priest

  • @Freecell82 You don't have to be stupid to get 'your' and 'you're' mixed up! I'd be very surprised if you never do that. If you're gonna debate with someone, at least have the curtesy to critisize their *arguements*, not their grammar. It'll get you more respect.

  • There was no argument to criticize.

  • @Freecell82 Yes, I saw that. In that case, point that out politely, and if they can't come up with anything then let it go. Then you still claim the moral high ground.

  • God's plan is one hell of a mess!! He creates man with "freewill" (major mistake), then he creates cancer for "his children", birth defects, mental illness and incurable diseases. Yes, god is truly wonderful (NOT!). Religions and beliefs in gods has been, and will continue to be, a root cause of killings and deaths in this world. Like the age old question.... how many people have died in the name of god???

  • Religion is a cause of many wars because it's convenient. If religion wasn't around, they'd find some other way to scare people into joining wars. Maybe not as effective as religion, but they'd still find a way.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true by the wise as false and by the rulers as useful.

  • well you're an idioit

  • So true. It makes me sick to have to agree with you. I wish you were wrong, but you're not. Good vid.

  • Great video ★★★★★ Theists need to be made aware of their delusions.

    Katalyzt

  • Life on earth doesn't suck....well it does for some people but life is basically what you make of it. You don't have to play pretend to have a fulfilling life and it's actually a good thing to raise your children with open minds. I am going to allow my child to study all religions instead of teaching that only 1 is true. That way they are not only educated but they will have more understanding of other faiths. I know people who weren't raised Christian and they aren't confused.

  • well what about your big greese hero.

    and 1 thing thats different:

that there was no treatment thats against these desise i think.

and sometimes there is alot pain in some treatments - or to not be with friends...

u will die - dam alquida jerk

u got no right to judge anyone for a sandcorn - while u cost 100 trillion dollares - and assist saudiarabia -

    baby kidnapping . -

    kindergarden rape..

and terrorist production - by child hostages . talk about child labour.

  • luife on earht is actualyl awsome.. u need 2 stop looking at all the bad stuff and look up tot he good stuff and 8u cant say life on earht sux BECAUSE UVE PROBLY NEVER EVEN BEEN OUT AMERICA and plus ur not fully a christian becaus eu just question god...

  • I have an anxiety disorder (check my page.) Sorry about that comment. I really am a happy person, I was depressed and hadn't taken my meds. And FYI questioning why God does what He does doesn't mean you're not christian. It means you're HUMAN. It would take a long time to completely explain my religous beliefs.

  • i think the little girls parent dint take the little girl to the doctor because of the money medical charges

  • I stand up and come to pathofreasons defense. Most religious people are extremely dysfunctional due to their own absurd self-delusions. They are in complete denial of scientific/medical/psychological evidence. People need to grow a brain and use it for once.

  • amen to that

  • DUDE you got problems.Besides it sounds like to me the parents wanted there child dead.i mean "faith in god?" pfffff hahahhahaaa! anyways besides dude its not enough to just say forget about god and save people yo. and one more thing there is alot of people who think like you and i can tell you they can care less shat of you because there selfish.and about that feeding crapp if theres a child stupiidd enough to even listen to a crazy person such as yourself then they deserve to be well stupidd.

  • I agree that these parents should be brought up on charges. "It's god's will" is not a good enough reason. Could it maybe be possible that it was gods will that man created cures for illnesses? That man create hospitals? Isn't penicillin derived from a form of mold? Mold, that stuff created by god,you know? I just imagine god(if there is one)listening to the prayers of these parents and saying to himself "Hey,assholes,I gave you legs and arms, use them to drive that damn kid to the doctor!" Maybe

  • Well that is one way to look at it, Another would be that due to the progression and evolution of the human mind we have discovered on our own the ability to fight back against naturally occurring sickness and disease. Which in another ironic way seems to be a way to keep our population in check.

  • Shame on those like yourself who indulge in blissful ignorance in the name an inane superstition.

  • Praying doesn't do anything for your child because there obviously isn't a god. and where's the proof that the stupid bible is right? Tell me, Medicine does do good because i used it. i never prayed.

  • zeitgeist movie, archarya, truthbeknown (DOT COM), humanists

  • Better than you.

  • Isn't this event just complete total proof that Christianity is false. Why the fuck you are Christians stil praying to your God? It is clear that he is not listening.

  • society puts too much emphasis on this earthly life. Christians know the eternity of life that awaits them, and aren't concerned with spending massive amounts of money to cling onto a few decades. John 15:18-19 fits this situation perfectly. more folks should pray and leave the decision about their life and death up to God, and give their money to the needy instead. there's no greater love than to lay down your life for another, so says Christ.

  • You're joking right??? Please tell me that your just messing around..??

  • THIS PERSON AND EVERYONE WHO THINKS ANYTHING LIKE THIS NEEDS TO DIE RIGHT NOW.. IF THE PARENT OF THIS GIRL WERE MY NEIGHBORS I WOULD KILL THEM IN THERE SLEEP

this also happened to a 16 yr old boy in my town of one of the most painful deaths possible...im going to find there adress

  • What an idiot

  • r u high or or incredibly stupid

  • I'd like to find those people and kick the shit outta them.

  • I agree with you 'bout 98%... but, don't you think that everyone believes to be true what they teach their children? For example, you believe in evolution. Wouldn't you teach your kid that evoluiton is true? Or, would you not address the issue until one day your kid came to their own conclusion? Whatever we teach our children is in a sense "forcing", because they believe us. I feel the issue of this couple whose daughter died is more about lacking common sense than anything else.

  • I don't believe in Evolution. Evolution requires no form of belief. I would explain to my child what Evolution is and allow them to research the evidence for themselves. I have found more times than not in regards to religion..it's usually teaching absolute truths and relying on faith as the only evidence to support the claims.

  • I have been out of school a while now, which is the limit to my research of Evolution. My question, is there now a direct link to modern man in the Evolutionary chain? At one time there was this "missing link". Has that been resolved? If it has, your point is well made. But if not, this is where a form of belief is required.

  • I can answer that! The missing link is a creationists misunderstanding of evolution. Implying we came directly from monkeys. We have compiled skeletons and parts of human like creatures in the hominid fossil record. Proof we share a common ancestor to chimps is retroviral DNA in a spot in our genes that are in the same place in the chimps genes. Showing we have a common ancestor.

  • Retroviruses are viruses that combine their genes with genes in our cells. It changes parts of our genes. We pass retroviral DNA onto our children. They speculate that our common ancestors with the chimps were affected by a retrovirus and when us and monkey's evolved from this ancestor, both our species obtained the retroviral DNA. The chances of us and monkeys getting retroviral DNA in the exact same spot individually is 1 in 3 BILLION.

  • fully agree with u

its probably the most serious problem with religion(forcing it on little kids)

  • I wish you could go say this directly to the parents of Madeline. But then again, they wouldn't listen. I like your philosophy, keep doing what your doing.

  • I agree with this guy 100% I couldnt have said better myself. Butthere are some people out there that are crazy and other that are good religious people.

  • My mother is catholic all the way, but me, Im dont belive in religion or in its practice, maybe some of the morals are great but she tought me that medicine Dr.s and so on are Gods angels, that is him helping us threw us.Yet we are so blind and erogant.

  • The angel lookd confused and said "he did come to your rescue, he sent a boat and a helicopter, yet you denied the help"

  • The family denies help becaus is agains their faith "GOD WILL SAVE US"said the father. They die, then in heaven the father asked the angels, "I prayed to be saved from God, why didnt he come to my rescue?"

  • M mom once told me a story and it goes something like this-

A flood leavs a family stranded on the roof of their home, they pray for help from god, a boat shoes of and a helicopter shows up.

  • I am a religious person and I do believe in the power of prayer, but I also believe that if the technology or the power to save my baby is there, I WILL use it, regardless of my faith or belief. I will do what I can or find others that will do what they can to save my baby. I'd rather burn in hell (if it's even there) because I went against my faith, if I knew my baby would live to grow up healthy and happy.

  • Why do you think some people don't take that extra step beyond prayer? I mean obviously you believe in the power of prayer but you also believe that technology can help. But why do some people not make the same connection you do?

  • I think it's because they're either ignorant of the fact that they believe God's will is God's will and that he will do 'almighty power' or the fact that they are afraid if they do anything else they're going against God's will and will face his wrath. The reason I believe the way I do is because, if God didn't really love us or want it there, he'd do something to destroy it or make it not work. I've heard the helicopter story as well.

  • A good example is a Jehovah's witness. They'd let their child die because they don't allow blood transfusions because it's WRITTEN in the bible. They are so fundamental in what they believe they lose sight of what is REAL and REALLY happening. They also are ignorant that the bible WAS written by falible man and God or 'Jehovah' INSPIRED. You don't see them denying themselves technologies such as cars and TV's, but it says in the bible to be afraid of worldly materials.

  • They readily discard Christmas and the spirit of giving and just stay home segregated and watch TV or play games together. Where is the joy of that? Share and hold a soup kitchen or something lol. I'm not only saying that Jehovah's Witnesses are like this, all religions are. I know a lot of Catholics that preach about NO birth control, but will make their daughter have an abortion, even though THEY'RE against it. To me it's dumb, live and let live if it's not hurting anyone!

  • completely true.

  • I am a cathlioc And i have never heard enything sooo bad as dat !! :(

  • Completely agreed. People like this shouldn't have kids. I understand that there should be respect for certain groups and their beliefs. FOr instance if you are a Christian Scientist you don't have to have your kids vaccinated - a good thing, if you knew anything about the dangers of vaccinations - that is not life or death. If it's a matter of life or death and the child is a minor, then there need be some guidelines.

  • Those parents denied their daughter of medical attention that could have been used for a treatable condition. The parents need to be bashed in the head with with hammers repeatedly till there's nothing left. Religion is bullshit. More people die in "the name of God" than any other reason. Parents are so stupid these days that they need to qualify by law first to be a responsible parent.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's nothing more then mind control to tell a young kid that he/she belongs to something. No child should be put through that, which is exactly why lots of primary schools dropped out christianity teaching.

I grew up with that at school, however I also grew up with parents who do not believe in christianity or any other religion.

I just hate people who would be so ignorant and rob a life from a child......

  • i hope atheists out there don't go nuts and use this tragic news as a way to push their beliefs/agenda on faith/etc. cause that'd just be plain sick. I'm not sayin that you are, just saying. the point here is religious zealots need to be dealt with, and children should be protected by the government from their nut parents. if even religious polygamy is illegal, why do parents have the right of using faith healing on their children? both are forms of child abuse.

  • I agree and I don't want to lump all Theists together with Zealots. I just wish moderate Christians would stand up more to the people like this. Jehovah's witnesses for example don't allow their children to receive blood transfusions! We have to get court orders at the hospital to give em blood. Their parents kick and scream the whole way. It's scary to think the child has to be raised in this environments.

  • omg

jahova's witnesses have been following my familly everywere

they just cant take a hint

  • religious fanatics are the bane of existence. if we didn't have these religous zealots, this world would be a much better place. think about all the terrible events in news today that's tied to religious extremists. these parents are evil for KILLING their daughter die. type 1 diabetes is the deadliest form of diabetes, and has stringent insulin requirements. for all you religious ppl out there, think of it this way: god gave us a brain so that we could take care of ourself, so use it!

  • These parents should be held accountable to the full extent of the law. Prayer is a bunch of nonsense that does absolutely nothing. You are praying to an imaginary deity with its only source of existence being the human mind. These people are stupid ignorant idiots. They murdered their own daughter due to a cult belief and should be given the death penalty. Religious people are a bunch of stupid imbeciles. People this is the year 2008 not the beginning of the 1st millenia... wake the fuck up!!

  • are americans realy that stupid?

  • I am an american and I have the answer.......Yes! Well not all of us just the STUPID ones.

  • drackbaby

im catholic but ive never heard of such stupidity

i gues its coz i dont live in america

  • Agreed, the parents in this case were really fucking stupid, but lets not let their stupidity have people to judge the rest of america. This has nothing to do with what country they were from, but what their religious beliefs were.By the way I am of no religion and I have heard of such stupidity, all over the world.

  • Being an intelligent atheist for the win!

  • You have an issue with a particular strain of Christian theology (Pentecostalism) with which most fundamentalist Christians traditionally disagree and have voiced their disagreement over for centuries. If you pride yourself on your rationality, then kindly learn something about historical theology before tossing around irresponsible generalizations and standing on a soapbox over an event whose context I'd wager a good sum you don't understand.

  • No I do understand. These parents are delusional. They wanted their imaginary friend to save their child and nothing happened. Pentecostalism is what I was raised in. Their core beliefs come from a verse that was actually added by scribes, not found in the original manuscripts. Miracles are not real, the only intelligent and rational thing these parents should have done is bring the child to the Hospital! Stop making excuses for them.

  • I made no excuses for the parents, PoR. At most, I questioned your internal logic.

Besides which, you haven't really answered my criticisms. Namely, Christians HAVE spoken out against faith healing "enthusiasts" for centuries, and they continue to do so--just look up "prosperity gospel" here on YouTube for a sampling.

You want to know why Pentecostals are so anti-intellectual? It's because people like you open your mouths and alienate them before doing your homework.

  • You're trying to distance your brand of religion from the actions of these morons because you condemn 'faith healing'. That's nice, but do you still subscribe to the Magic Wizard in the Sky theory?

The problem with religion is not the occasional homicidal acts of its adherents, but that it's based on patent nonsense.

If you believe in deities at all, you're just as likely, in the right circumstances, to do things that will kill innocents, because your weltanschauung is simply not sane.

  • Hear hear!

  • What do you mean exactly? A child died because of the parents negligence. They could have easily taken the little girl to the hospital and still prayed. So when you say....."an event whose context I'd wager a good sum you don't understand." are you talking the history of christian theology or what happen to the girl? Because if you are talking about the latter, then PathofReason is right, it does sound like you are making excuses.

  • I'm talking about the latter in context of the former. With respect to their negligence, simply explaining their behavior as "parents are idiots" is circular and gets us nowhere in the analysis of the event. Considering their negligence in light of historical theology gives a better understanding of what drove their thinking and muzzles one from making accusations of non-action on the part of other Christians, accusations that have no substance whatsoever.

  • Moreover, in a scientifically deterministic universe, "thinking for oneself" is an egoistic delusion -- a mentalistic conceptualization that masks the reality that all one's beliefs are decided by a cascade of lawful molecular events. Therefore, what grounds do you have to express behavior that is consistent with the prescientific construct of "angry"? Others' beliefs are just as fated as your own.

  • well said PathoReason

  • Great video sir. Hearing about that poor girl prompted me to write a very extensive blog. I 100% agree with you

  • After much thought, and consideration of your words. I think you are a HYPOCRITE. Where is your heartcry, and passion to speak out against the aboritoriums that kill, and have killed millions, upon millions of children. What kind of PATH OF REASON is that?? I would have taken my child to the doctor if she was sick, but it is very evident that you have been indoctrinated by the "RELIGION OF HUMANISM".

    WHEN DID YOUR LIFE BEGIN????????

  • truthwatchman if you were a true beliver, you wouldn't take your kids to the hospital if they were sick.

  • Bingo.

If God is good, powerful, and answers prayers, then he should heal your sick child if you pray. The only reason to take your child to a doctor is if you don't belief one of these three things - he isn't listening, he isn't good, or he can't help.

Now, if you just taught everyone this (we don't really belief in prayer) - instead of teaching how to pray, rewarding those who do, etc. - maybe there wouldn't be folks who really think it will save their child?

  • Your comment is living proof to PATH OF REASONS comment that ignorance gets passed on, and on, and on. Apparently you have been indoctrinated as PATH OF REASON speaks of. Unless you have surrendered your life, and applied yourself to the pursuit of God, Not Religion, but to the pursuit of God, you will remain ignorant, and pass your ignorance on, and on. Wlak away from ignorance, pursuit Jesus, not religion. You will discover the person you were always meant to be...

  • Let me get this straight, you want me to surrender myself to God but not religion? However, you then want me to pursue Jesus? And how do we know Jesus is the son of God without reading it in.... a religious book.

And why should I follow God (and your version of God in particular) rather than the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Name one thing which God can do for me which the FSM can't?

Religion in the belief in the supernatural. Belief in God is religion.

  • "The only reason to take your child to a doctor..."

What a red herring! Theologian John Calvin (1509 -- 1564), writing in response to the Libertine faith healer Monsieur Antoine Pocquet, expressed the opinion in his Treatises Against the Anabaptists and the Libertines: "He [Pocquet] says that medicine came into the World through the suggestion of the evil spirit. I say... that it came from God, inasmuch as it is a knowledge of carefully using the gifts of creation which He gives us."

  • If your God is real he is the biggest abortionist of all time. Do you know how many miscarriages and still births there are in a year...in this country alone? If life begins at conception your God sure has some explaining to do. Do you have any idea how illogical you sound? I think we have better alternatives to having abortions but this video was about a mother who let her child die hoping god would save her....Guess what happened? Logic and reason win over delusion any day.

  • How in the name of anything that is real, can anybody thnk that this is good?

  • "Unfortunately things like this need to happen or the deterioration of our planet will happen even faster."

No they don't. Little girls need not die horrific deaths due to religious nut-case parents in order to control the population of humans. You don't even need diseases, wars, or mass starvation either.

Perhaps you haven't heard of BIRTH CONTROL? It is a nifty invention which allows long productive lifespans, free of disease, war, or starvation, while limiting human population.

  • Yes but who says that they had more children? Maybe she was an only child. I'm sure everyone that reads this has heard of birth control however that isn't stopping people from PURPOSELY having more than two children. The only thing that could possibly limit that is the government, but we know that wont happen so until people start thinking smarter about the future of humanity and start controlling the population crisis them selves I hardly see your view as a valid argument.

  • Not to mention birth control does nothing to stop war. You think we wouldn't be at war with Iraq if we and/or the Iraqis were forced to use birth control methods? I doubt it other than George W. Bush may have been an accident.

  • Madeline has two older siblings. However, that wasn't my point. The point is that limiting population by murdering 11 year-old girls is unnecessary (and stupid to even say to). Western countries have negative population growth baring immigration. Little girls can life as long as they wish.

As for wars... lower population would prevent most. Much less need to fight over oil, water, land, food, or any other resource if the world population was one billion instead of over six.

  • I would love to see anyones response to this. I am by no means religious, however he did mention that forcing beliefs on a child is like a virus. Well in that respect humans are just the same problem. I agree that it is sad when a child dies however if we were to keep everyone on this planet living there would be no room for any of us at all any more. Unfortunately things like this need to happen or the deterioration of our planet will happen even faster.

  • Not only that but you missed the bigger point which is that "god" gave us the power to create the medicine so we should use it when available. Like the joke goes "A man was drownding and as he was drownding an ox walks by and asks the man if he needs some help he says no and that god will save him. A second ox walks by and asks him if he needs help the man says no and he dies. when he gets to heaven the man asks god why he didn't save him and god tells him 'I sent two oxen to save you dummy'"

  • There are some people who believe all death and disease is a result of "original sin", There are other who think that any science against gods punishment for us are of the devil. The mentality that all this pain and suffering's results from eating a fruit that condemned humanity is the problem.

  • We need people to understand that these stories are myths. That they are nothing more than the product of an ancient cultures understanding on life. People living during a time when anything out of their realm of understanding was attributed to gods. When volcanoes erupted then...they blamed "God" when people had disease...It was the "gods".

  • Very nice commentary... I can totally relate to your conviction against religion being imposed on children and its being like a virus, but I think that there should've been a third option besides the child being abandoned to the psychotic mercies of her parents, or being dead:

Child protective services. It would be nice if the community would come together and just plain yank the child away from those so-called "parents", drunk on delusion and ritual.

  • This is murder. And religious reasons for a murder should lead right to the electric chair.

  • I agree completely.

  • And all religious folks having their child circumcized should go to jail for assault. And all religious folks saying that god will answer prayers should be in jail for fraud. Faith healers for practicing medicine without a license. Religious leaders for spreading false medical advice about condom use in Africa.

We allow religious folks to get away with hundreds of crimes which we don't allow for any other belief system. Why this case and not the millions of others?

  • I totally agree this is at the very least extreme neglect. But moreover its premeditated murder. Perhaps if they were crazy religious cultists I may have given them mercy for being mentally retarded but they claim they weren't very religious jesus.

What drives me absolutely insane is that the police refuse to remove th other children because there is no sign of "abuse". For fucks sake isn't letting your daughter die atleast abuse?

I feel sorry for the other children, if they become gravely ill

  • I agree w/ BW022,

I also think religion is a virus, but she is not better off dead. Everything else you said was good, but who knows what that girl could've ended up doing or being. It's a good video, but just be more careful with your words next time.

  • virus ............... more like aids

  • I dislike religion also, but...

    She isn't better off dead.

Being dead is worse than being religiously indoctrinated. The later can be reversed. The former can not. You might rather be dead than religious, but I'd rather this poor girl lived. Perhaps she would have realized that science was keeping her alive and broken free from her parent's faith. However, even if she wasn't going to, I'd still rather she was a living [insert label] girl than a dead [insert label] girl.
