Yea this last episode does sound really scripted, but the producers probably just needed a way to transition to all of the different clips/flashbacks, so they had Nick and Jess say certain things to set up the clips.

Nick treating her like a kid did not help her to grow up. she was too young when she got married ...never even lived on her own. After the divorce she certainly looks like she grew up a lot. Nothing like broken heart to make you grow up fast. Too bad it had to happen that. I feel sad for both of them, wish they could have worked it out.
