First of all, I can read texts and look at the road at the same time, it's called raising your phone up.

Second, I can text without looking at the phone. I just type and click enter on my phone's qwerty keyboard. Message sent, no attention lost from the road.

@modded2007 When you learn how to drive, you learn to take every precaution. You imagine the worst happening and you're supposed to be ready for it. At least that's right in my case, since I took driver's ed.

When I text, my eyes are never off the road. Fastest I've gone texting and driving is 90mph. Still alive for going fast on an empty freeway :)
