i mean, i know i'm no Picasso but, do you think my music would sound better if i sidechained? i have a couple of songs on my channel. i only post them as i can be sure no one will steal them because nobody wants them. i just have them posted for my own educational purposes. Should I Sidechain? or is there a problem elsewhere? thank you i subbed you!!
It is really rare to see someone like you to unselfishly share the knowledge and also to sound great. I also watched the video you made from where you and the other artists started and it's pretty much self explanatory how iron will and strong persistence can lead to a greater cause.
AWESOME tutorial! I have been searching around for a while now but can't find anything good, until I saw this! :D Please check out my music on my channel. Maybe you will notice that the mixing isn't that good ;) THANKS!
Question though: When I route it the way you say, my kick goes through the bass EQ (which I added on the bass track in the mixer) which I of course don´t want. Am I doing something wrong or am I right? Best regards, Charles
Without doubt one of the best tutorials I have ever watched! So direct and to the point. The mount of expert tutorials I see that start going off track about beginner info is unbelievable!
Was very informative aswell! I was aware of the new sidechaining method but was not aware that it can be that effective! Was getting sick and tired of having a ridiculous amount of peak controllers open all over the place!
@AdamDesjardins Side chaining is compression, peak controller is actually modifying whatever signal in a direct or indirect relationship to whatever is controlling it.
Best tutorial ever, I didn't have to keep pausing to just keep up! Thanks! Now I can get back to producing! I Thanks again Zirconst. You've got my subscription! Keep up the great work, awesome music btw ^_^
This method is useful but maybe you can help me out with a little problem I am having or at least have an answer for it. For example, in some of the songs i have made i like to tweak the 3xOsc with maximus, reverb, and so on in the mixer slot..
so my question is how can i make it so the kick doesn't run through maximus and the parametric eq? because its making the kick sound really bad.
can you make a new vocal synthesiser because fl 9s sucks and i finally learn how to use a vocoder and my douche bag friend breaks the efing mic and i need some kind of modulator for my vocoder think you can help i got an idea for a new vocals
@HYPNO5IS Nah you typically don't want to do that for sidechaining, because there are some sounds that you don't want to compress :-) I've heard some artists do it but it can sound really tacky.
somewhat to an extent... does this "sidechaining" method ... well lemme say this as a quesiton... what specifically (since i'm hard of listening I guss...) does sidechaining do? .3.
@NostalgiaInOAB Basically turns down the volume of one sound when another gets louder. Used especially in techno/dance/house for that thumping kick- sidechaining turns down other noises like synths/bass to give the kick drum 'room' in the sound.
@Kaburorne OH.. okay.. now it makes perfect sense... this method I should practice with then...I can never hear teh kick thump usually...I always have to turn down other sounds manually...

Dude I write hardstyle and the kicks are 3 layers which are on individual channels. Should I compress only the sub bass layer or all 3?

What's the big difference between sidechaining using your method, peak controller or using the fruity love philter?

-]. If ya still answering questions on this video, I would like to ask is sidechaining on a Drum n bass track a wise thing? .[-
TEMPHUiBIS 1 year ago
@TEMPHUiBIS Well, overdoing it with the kick/bass can make it sound too rough due to the fast rhythm of the kick, but sometimes I sidechain a bit!
zirconst 1 year ago
superb demonstration and explaination. You took you time through it and I didn't find myself constantly having to rewind the vid to keep up. 5/5
well taught!
